  • Seattle Grunge is here to stay!

  • cameron is grooving like a beast

  • @Killerkdog12

    you arent alone im 14!!!

  • Saw these guys back in the day live at the civic center in Fitchburg MA. What amounts to a high school hockey rink. It was as awsome as you are probably imagining. The guy from Jesus Lizard got arrested for showing us his junk..but that's another story...

  • @woodsyowl1975 I would have showed my junk and got arrested and spent the rest of my life 1000 ft from a school, just to see that show. :P

  • Kind of sucks for me to think there's not many 15 year olds like me listening to great music like this...

  • @Killerkdog12 well, I know two ;)

  • I had a stupid debate about That Alice in Chains were better than Soundgarden.

    Not!!!!!

Greetings from Amsterdam and somebody stole this cd from me!

  • STP is definitely in there. Originall named Shirley Temples P****

  • @thazenmasta well, I love STP, too: I don't think I'd go as so far saying their new stuff sucks, well for starters, they're my favoritest band in the world!

  • @thazenmasta oh my gosh! I love you for saying that! ^-^ <3

  • @thazenmasta not sure about that one dude, i've tried giving them a chance, to include them in that league, but I don't think they cut it to be honest

  • @willzer808 Try out their albums Core, Purple, Tiny Music...Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop, and No. 4. Their other albums...not so much. Good heavy and grungy guitar riffs in them thar albums. But you should appreciate both, instead of being a fanboy for only one band. They approach music differently and won't be on the same "level" as you put it. Both good bands, glad to listen to them both.

  • epic road trip album. It got me through a buch of them.

  • Chris Cornell at his peak cannot be touched.. by anyone. Amazing vocals.

  • LD!!!! For sure...

  • I always think of my boy Vitaly Petrov whenever I hear this song :)

  • @RandomFilmStudiosHSZ hmm i wouldnt really say alter bridge is a post grunge band altough i would say they are alternative

  • grinning? like a shit eatin possum. THIS is music

  • Only 60,000 views? This is real music.

  • Anyone think the solo sounds like Death Magnetic-Kirk Hammett style?

  • I see the people that listen to SG, AiC, PJ, etc as a group. The last remaining still listening to quality music, as if we were the last templars fighting for grunge and good ol' rock.

  • @Wtfpwned90

    So, so true!!!

  • @Wtfpwned90 We come from all walks of life, on a noble mission, to restore the formal glory of 90's music! lol I find my self bugging my friends to listen to SG.

  • @Wtfpwned90 I git SoundGarden, Alice In Chains, but who's PJ? I don't think I know that one I listen to SG and A.I.C. I even have the old music bank from them so help me out on that PJ one thanks.

  • @civicmaneg6 Pearl Jam, buddy.

  • @Silvianoshei I know I remembered last night while I was sleeping i'm like how could I forget Pearl Jam they had some good shit, But thanks for the info my friend I guess the old age is catching uo too me.

  • @Wtfpwned90 The anti-pop. Don't be close-minded, though, there are a lot of bands fresh out of the '00s that are really good.

  • @pineapplebaron It isnt about being close minded. Simply enjoying music and im sorry, the current pop is far from the quality of music i like to enjoy.

However, to each its own and everyone has their likings.

  • @Wtfpwned90 I don't like pop, and I didn't say anything about liking it. I said grunge was the anti-pop. I'm referencing the numerous post-grunge 00's bands out there that are quite good. Not pop.

  • @Wtfpwned90 The Last of the Musicians like The Last of the Mohicans XD

  • @jfoley715 LOL xD

  • @Wtfpwned90 Nirvana, Screaming Trees, STP, Mudhoney...

  • @Wtfpwned90 Yeah, you're really "fighting" for the saving music, making comments on Youtube, as if it needed saving anyways. People like you annoy the hell outta me, that listen to grunge and don't give modern rock the slightest chance at all. Seriously, no one wants to listen to your "music today sucks" rant, I see shit like that on a daily basis. I'm not calling you ignorant, I'm just saying your perspective when it comes to music is very close-minded.

  • @DieHardGardenFan finally someone with a brain.

  • @DieHardGardenFan Thank you.

  • @Wtfpwned90 indeed

  • @Wtfpwned90 Certainly will be teaching my children! :)

  • @Wtfpwned90 Not templars, more like Assassins. ;)

  • probably the best album in rock history

  • Only happy when you hurt.

  • kim thayil is a god

  • Thumbs up if this totally sounds like the love child Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin.

  • @Tylermanguy this was the actual selling line of their music lable back then :)....well not exactly but it said something like "robert plant's heir" hehe

  • @Tylermanguy WORD!! MLB!

  • to us there is not a definative Soundgarden album...they have kept the off tempo rock theme all thruout their carreer that keeps them "Soundgarden"...but there are a few tracks that are "SOUNDGARDEN" to the fullest....every fan has their soundgarden favs.....

  • cocksucka!

  • down on the upside is the best SoundgardeN's album definitally

  • @BanOxyCred I'd say Superunknown is, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

  • @NintendoFiringSquad Superunknown is a great album but Down on the upside is bag full of diamonds!

  • There's only 2 genres of music: What you think is good, and what you think isn't. Case closed.

  • This is no genre... Soundgarden, Pearl Jam... all great bands have no gender, since they only make music from their souls, and for the souls. Healing pieces of feelings, put into a song. No style, no pose: music in pure state.

  • lyrics are fucking fantastic

  • Thanks, Joey Diaz !

  • @DelbyC what about him?

  • @Babric420 He tweeted this.

    I loved it. I'm grateful.

  • Wow, I had a really bad image of Soundgarden for two reasons, "Black Hole Sun" makes me sick because of how much it was on tv; and I'm not that fond of Chris Cornell... but this song blew my hat off. Awesome.

  • i wish this was on their anthology

  • 2:00

  • There were a great band. Awesome live!!!

  • How about this? Prog-grunge

No, it doesn't make sense, then again it is Soundgarden...

  • miss them so fucken much! Saw them at lolapalooza when lola was tha shit wonderful show phenomanol band especially live!

  • Band: Soundgarden.

    Genre: Soundgarden.

    ...

Soundgarden are from the same planet as Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Rush. They laugh at your puny categories.

  • great song about a man, or person for that matter, who acts friendly on the exterior but is just down to the bone has the personality of a rhinoceros. you know, that person who never really offers you anything thing except when you have a flat tire or cant stand up straight. makes me wonder if soundgarden knew someone like this or maybe at one point one of them were like this themselves. great tune! do not be like the rhinoceros. live and laugh and love onto others!!

  • @ wizzoo22

try listening to The Ocean by Led Zeppelin @ a49 seconds in, that could be what ur thinking of also.

Oh, and yes, great song. Soundgarden kicks ass!

  • y is a comment on the comments the highest rated comment? I cant stand any of you fuckheads either way around, because when i read your comments i hear such a stupid voice inside of my head from some dork who is a slut for respect. you guys suck. im going to play a rusty trombone, and tab dance out of here now

  • @Wiltallica Probably because his comment made sense.

I'll translate it for you, though: SHUT DA FUK UP N LISTEN 2 DA MUSIK!

  • @Wiltallica I throughly enjoy communications like this, because you get to contradict yourself. Whenever I type, I don't curse too much, repeat my words or act like an "Internet tough guy" -- That's you, right now buddy.

Learn to relax and mellow out. I heard it's good for your blood pressure and promotes longevity, not that you need to live longer from the looks of things, anyway. Take care! :D

  • Are you kidding me? This song is STELLAR....could be the best on DOTU/S.

This is my fav song on my fav disc by them. Cornell is unreal and Kim Thayil will someday be recognized as a one of the best lead players around. Trying playing over some of their off-time songs? Love it man!

  • Don't know why, but everytime i hear this song, i imagine a big mug of beer beeing drunk by a hairy man with a big mustache...hahaha!

i simply love this fuckin song!

  • Standing with my enemy hung on my horns.

  • @wizzoo22 a part of the verse sounds a tiny bit like the intro to Paranoid by Black Sabbath

  • My favorite SoundGarden song.

  • God how I love the first 7 songs of this album.

  • JUST EPIC>>>>

  • Anyways......this is a Soundgarden comments board, so back on topic........great song and great solo. It's weird though......I'm a guitarist, and I have a friend who's a drummer; however overall, I prefer Matt Cameron, while my friend prefers Kim Thayil (I have the deepest respect for him though, and he's great in this song).

  • @MetroidFan621 I find it funny that you're restricting conversation on an internet board. If a topic comes up, why restrict it? I understand the premise, but I just think it's so much easier to just let the conversation work itself out.

  • @ThePufferFash Eh? Good point. No reason to be fascistic. I just felt like getting myself back on topic. Agreed there's no huge problem with going a bit off topic on an internet comments board (as long as it's at least REMOTELY related). If it seems unnecessary that's the kind of thing people shouldn't be posting.

  • @MetroidFan621 Don't worry about it. I didn't mean to crack down on you, and I agree that it was unnecessary. Just curious, is all.

  • Greatest Fucking Title Ever.

  • Great song! It's has a feeling on the chorus, i imagine a bar on a small, calm and happy place, in touch with the nature. And everybody is drinking a lot and chating...i don't know, this song passes a good feeling...

  • Catchy in such an off way....

    Good ol' Soundgarden.

  • Applebite is a great tune too, reminds me of Head Down.

  • I often can't catch english lyrics but I still understand good music at first listening. Such is real good music. Then I read the lyrics and be convinced what they're saying. No matter what kind of music, the greatness is in the sound, not the words. But I wish I was a good speaker of English. Wanna get perfectly what is sung when I listen...

  • this is the most underrated song.

  • ONLY DEADLY IN A SWARM

  • @GunYou1 True for zombies and bees haha

  • I love Nirvana, Soundgarden, and AIC (The big three, the best of grunge in my opinion, or at least the most notable). Pearl Jam used to be great, but their songs of late just disappoint me, sorry to you Pearl Jam fans. They sold IMO. You know they sold out when one of their songs plays on CNN.

  • @UbCappin just my 2 cents: I hate the word 'sold-out' or 'sell-out'. I really do.

So why do I hate those words?

    Because,

    1) People who use those words think that mainstream music sucks.

    2) They think major labels are leeches.

    3) They think every artist should stay self-funded and stay away from popular music.

    4) If a band decides to sign to a label after waking up to reality that shunning the big bucks and equipment and PR services lent by record labels, they are dubbed sell-outs.

    Lame.

    Lame. Please grow up.

  • @5oulPower Well thats an opinion. I dont think Pearl Jam sold out for ANY of the reasons you listed. I thought they sold out because they started out grunge and their end result is from the grunge that I know and love. If I hated mainstream music, do I hate the Beatles? Zeppelin? They were all mainstream at a time. Man, I used to love Soundgarden too so dont think that Im like a "hater" or something. I just miss the old Pearl Jam lol. But your opinion is your opinion.

  • @5oulPower BTW, my definition of sold out: Trading making good music or music from the heart for money, thus sounding unoriginal. But thats just my opinion. You probably have a different definition, and thats all right.

  • @UbCappin nvm that's ok. Thats my def too. Unfortunately many ppl see signing to labels as trading making good music for money. Which is absurd.... Like Green Day. You can't deny American Idiot was their masterpiece but I hear so many ppl saying they sold out on that album. Sad...

  • @5oulPower Lol yeah I loved American Idiot. People say they sold out but that is probably one of the most meaningful and powerful albums released in the past decade. Its not selling out when they move to a higher record label and still make original good music.

  • @UbCappin agreed. :-)

  • kim thayil has some kick ass riffs that is so easy to get into and zone with, listening and playing them

  • I think Nirvana was the main doorway for all these kinds of bands!!! Seattle Grunge Baby!!!!!!

  • Why I absolutely loved all 4 grunge bands:

Soundgarden - Plain kick-ass riffs. Cool guitar licks. Killer tone. And that killer voice.

Nirvana - They have a certain soul in their music, and permeating through Kurt's vocals. You feel his sufferings and joys.

Pearl Jam - Early career, soaring anthemics. Late career, style that's really hard to get into but has a lot of depth.

AIC - Highly melodic style of metal and grunge. Oh, also there's Layne Staley.

  • @5oulPower like stp? they were my fav.... core and purple just amazing, 2nd soundgarden, last pearl jam lol

  • @it3659 yeah I do like stp too. Pretty cool band. But stp's singer owed his style of singing to Layne Staley of AIC and Ed Vedder of Pearl Jam. For me though I like all grunge bands my personal preference dictates I like PJ first. :-)

And I love both new and old PJ. People saying PJ isnt as good as they used to be, I say that's bullshit. They just evolved. Some fans just cant handle it. Its their own loss. Just my, and many other's two cents.

  • @it3659 Man I love STP! I always thought that they were a little underrated, but they are one of my favorite bands. I always thought Weilands vocals were a mix between Staley and Cobain. What did you think of "Between the lines" and the new album in general?

  • @UbCappin They are defo underated lol weilands voice I think back in The day was the best but was still unique enough, though he sometimes sounded like kirk (creep) new album good! Not as good as core or purple though....

  • Kim Thayil fucks your mother.

    and any guitar he touches.

  • I fucking love you, Chris Cornell. Live long and well, my man.

  • I miss Soundgarden :(

  • @drdontcare123 ehh... they're back

  • @karakenio ha that's great, I didn't know that, I'm not sad anymore, thanks for telling me

  • the meaning of harm....

  • damn, i've never seen so much arguing about genres then i have on this video. it's music, good music. let's stop trying to label every band into it's own little micro-genre and just enjoy it. music is alot better when you don't have it in a pre-determined box of what it should sound like.

  • @nyrangers731 I agree.. the bands that really stand out are the ones that test and break genre barriers :)

  • @nyrangers731 But some people have to put things in little boxes because they have little brains.

  • psst guys go to abmp3.com has a few soundgarden songs

  • 80's & 90's *

  • you know what, I listen to thrash, black and death metal (real death metal), but the Soundgarden is something that I appreciate so much ( Soundgarden is for me only good grunge band), but all this is not to important, the point is... even if I listen to metal I have high respect for 80's & 80's music because older generations grew up on that music... so I can just say Soundgarden rocks ;)

  • @ThrashingBlackDeath Death Metal sucks! I can tell you what Death Metal is, its 150-kilo idiots doubting on their sexuality so much that they have to scream about killin everyone in their way, thats Death Metal my friend, you should stick to Soundgarden!

  • @Ekyvvsaq okay dude, listen to me... first of all death metal for me is a number one music (even tough I really appreciate rock)...

Death metal is second most complex & most hard-to-play music right after jazz & funk... third, death metal have structure most similar to jazz/funk music...

listen for example bands like Death, Necrophagist, Nile or Insomnium... you will se what real music is... they eat little children for lunch, so don't spit on death metal ever again...

  • @ThrashingBlackDeath about death metal, no there is no such thing as a 'number one genre' all genres are equal you just gotta know how to appreciate them. For instance I listen to grunge, punk, pop-punk (the blink-182 kind), alternative, electro-rock (Radiohead), jazz (Jamiroquai), funk, RnB, hip-hop... almost everthing. And also, screaming vocals, lyrics on death, and death, and death, and dying, and death, and heavy ear-throbbing metal isnt exactly everyone's cup of tea. you're wrong.

  • @5oulPower you're right death metal isn't exactly everyone's cup of tea, but that doesn't means that people have to spit on it if they don't know nothing about it...and this is reason why I must react on such things... I mean I don't like rap & techno for example but I don't go around and spit on it... ;)

have a nice day and enjoy ;)

  • @ThrashingBlackDeath I dont like 'em. Not only their music, but their attitude. Like you said, they're the kind of people that eat children, all of their album covers are like corpses and stuff. Sorry, but I hate everyone that tries to make violence, death, rape to a cool thing...

  • @Ekyvvsaq absolutely true. That's what i was thinking too. I can appreciate Metallica and Korn because they don't deal with such sombre and disgusting subjects the way death metal bands do.

  • @5oulPower THANKS! Nice to find someone like-minded...

  • @Ekyvvsaq what? oh my god, you don't even know how deep are the lyrics of death metal songs, just listen Death for example, their lyrics are not about some relentless killing or something, they have lyrics about human mind, way of thinking, social life and other stuff, all I want to say is that no one in death metal is trying to make rape, violence & death to a cool thing, they just see death from another corner that most people are feared of... that's the point of death metal...

  • @ThrashingBlackDeath they are just trying to scare people. all death metal fans i know about are NOT deep. Besides, alot of them are satanists. recently, i saw a metal documentary, and there was this norwegian black metal band whos singer shot himself. the band members took pieces of his skull bone and made necklesses out of it!, deep, sensitive guys? dont think so.

  • @Ekyvvsaq the band you are talking about is Mayhem which is black metal band... and they are pretty sick...

I have a lot death metal friends, and they are intelligent social persons...

Vocalist of Cannibal Corpse George Fisher, is a vocalist of one of the most controversal death metal bands, and still he is a normal man who has a wife and two children... my point is, the music doesn't appoints a man... and no one tries to scare anyone, and satanism isn't bad, even though I'm not religionist...

  • @ThrashingBlackDeath I really can't handle the growling of most metal bands...

  • @jetpoweredgriffin

You're right. It's hard to use logic against people who are ignorant. But I still think it is better than making a comeback that just insults my opponent. I'll just have to be content knowing that both bands made music an art again.

  • @zone1480

Picking on a band because they are more popular than the other is just ridiculous. If Nirvana didn't make it big, Soundgarden definitely wouldn't have. The only reason I had ever heard of Soundgarden was because I heard of Nirvana. Hating Nirvana just because you like Soundgarden more is useless. Just like people hating the Beatles because they like the Rolling Stones more.

  • @halladay3

You just can't make sense out of nonsense.

Logic doesn't seem to get far against emotion.

I think you're right but it seems too many people don't really think or care, they just have to snarl or snivel about something.

Some people just aren't happy unless they're miserable.

  • @halladay3 Is right, hating a band because you like a band more, or because the other band were more bigger is useless, and makes you seem like a whiny bitch.

NO! NIRVANA WERE THE BIGGEST BAND! I LOVE A.I.C. MORE! SO I'M GONNA HATE THEM!

Nirvana is my favorite Grunge band, but I still own every single A.I.C, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Melvins, TAD, Mulfunkshun, Candlebox, and Bush album, and I literally love all tracks from all the albums, including Nirvana's. Don't play favorites.

  • @BackingTracks6661 now that's what i'm talkin about

  • Some songs are better left not becoming singles. This way no one says the song is overrated. This song could have been a great single but it didn't need to. I'm happy that this was left out as an underrated gem.

  • All you fucking Idiots who say Nirvana sucked dont know shit about MUSIC PERIOD!

  • @jizzle765 dude this is a soundgarden video just sit down and enjoy it don't complain about ppl not liking nirvana

  • @cheseeproductions Dude, eat a dick! Nirvana brought this shit in the mainstream! No Nirvana no money for any of these guys. By the way tell you mom to get that DNA done i keep telling her your not my son, but she wont leave me alone! Fuck you im out, you wont get another reply from me so dont bother!

  • @jizzle765 do the words physical therapy mean anything to you?

  • This song seems ready to rip your head off with its ausomeness

  • Nirvana sucked ass.

  • @zone1480 your just trying to draw attention...get outa here

  • @tintin4561 Not trying to draw attention at all. Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins were the worst thing to happen to music in the 90s. Period.

  • @zone1480 dude ur missin the point if there was no nirvana there would be no grunge wouldent hit mainstream nirvana was like an upstart and plus nirvana isnt even grunge theyre punk...just angrier grunge is like soundgarden alice in chains that heavy shit

  • @tintin4561 I'm not missing anything, it's you who is missing the point. Nirvana didn;t start shit nor the grunge scene -The Melvins were the pioneers of grunge. Do some research and learn your history, fool.

  • @zone1480 bud re read what i said sure the melvins started the grunge scene and mudhoney was destined to fame but nirvana put grunge on the map out of the seattle clubs you should learn your history...puffta

  • @tintin4561 Shut up faggot. Go listen to "Teen Spirit" and go the Cobain way. He should have blown his head off sonner (I suggest you do the same), but instead he left a huge shit stain that spurred the whole nu metal movement (MTV videos, etc).

  • @zone1480 YEA DUDE YOUR SO RIGHT im gonna go and blow my brains out just because i like nirvana teen spirit isnt the only song you probly dont like nirvana because thats the only song youve listend too bud just enjoy the music and shut the fuck up because you wouldent be listening to this song if it wasent for kurt cobain to get grunge to play on radios and be in mainstream music

  • @tintin4561 Hey idiot, heard of grammar?

  • @zone1480 haha out of comebacks there champ? i feel bad for myself wasting my time with a brain dead moron like yourself...

  • @tintin4561 That wasn't a comeback at all. Just lending a helping hand to the 'tards' out there like yourself. Your previous post was one long paragraph sentence. It would make the nonsense that you write much more easier to read if you'd use punctuation and grammar. Go back to school little boy.

  • @tintin4561 "i feel bad for myself wasting my time with a brain dead moron like yourself... "...LOL - thanks for proving my point, yet again.

  • @zone1480 im gonna be the bigger man and end this silly convo its really pointless responding im wasting my time...enjoy the music bud

  • CHAULK full of goodness

  • fuck wmg

  • Love hearing these albums... but heaven forbid people should have to pay a band to hear it's music. Such entitlement we have these days. I'm not excluded in that criticism either, but if they took em away and myself and everyone else didn't have the cookie jar in front of us anymore... it'd be better for the bands. I mean you can download audio from youtube if you d/l free software. So in the end it's all stealing. Again love hearing the stuff on here... but we're all guilty nonetheless.

  • I find this album much better than Superunknown. Superunknown was way too polished and at times boring. Down on the Upside isn't my favorite SG album but I definitely think it's their most mature and dark album. Badmotorfinger is my favorite=]

  • the solo is great, but then again the whole song is!

  • I love this song and this album and I've only heard a couple of songs.

  • I love the way he says Only. It makes it so creative and original instead of just saying it normally.

  • Best song off that album fo' sure.

  • god i love the name of this song! lol

  • THEY'RE BACK!!!

  • sounded like yes for a minute there heart of the sunrise?

  • Alice in chains and soundgarden was the true winners of the 90's Nirvana was just overrated in my opinion.

  • @voro122 nirvana is amazing.

  • @voro122 completely agree. Soundgarden was my favorite, they are my favorite band of all time. And then AIC is second. I would have heard many bands before Nirvana. Such depressing, simple sounding ballads the seemed to make. The lyrics were deep, but that's about it.

  • @voro122 nah, their nevermind album was amazing
