I used to be a horse groom for a Harness Racing farm here in michigan so i have some experience with caring for horses and this is pure abuse your doing to these animals, its sickening to watch, thanks to Shark and Steve for documenting this.
Horses in this "race" arent wild, the only "wild horses" left is the mongolian pony and theyre almost extinct, the feral horses the government rounds up are branded and under contract, not one has a brand and if they did you be in violation and these horses would be taken and charges brought against you. I own a bunch of mustangs myself, also not one "wild" horse acts like this :/ youd have to beat them awful bad before theyd be anywhere near this aggressive.

The only rodeo I go to is bull riding and barrel racing, and to excite the bulls, they poke them with blunt sticks. They don't have any of this "bullshit", no pun intended! How can I send a donation?
They're so stupid! They're doing the opposite of what they should be doing. yanking on the halter and tangling up it's legs isn't going to get them anywhere....The only way you can ride is if you respect the horse, and don't hurt it. If this was a race to show who could keep the horse calm and comfortable so it can be ridden then maybe it wouldn't be so cruel, but they seem to enjoy just yanking away..
What a waste most of those young horses are really nice looking and built well, any one of them could have made a great riding horse if they where just properly started and trained. Now they will have the baggage of this event on them for the rest of their lives. Disgraceful to all the great colt starters out there.

Reading these comments makes me confused. Personally I think that all types of rodeo is animal abuse - but some of these comments claims that there is some types of rodeo that's pleasant for both humans and animals.

Ok, The Cheyenne Rodeo is like the only rodeo that has treated there animals like that, and just one rodeo doesnt make all the others bad, i do rodeo and i rope steers. NOT all Rodeos are like this one, just remember that

i go to rodeos but mine does not have abuse just bareel racing bull riding and bronco riding i dont think my rodeo is abuse but this is scared young horses i havfe horses i would not make my horse scared that also means my three year old horse this is abuse
Thanks for the videos. I had no idea of the cruelty and all for sport (money). The event seems like such utter nonsense that it' hard to tell what the point is other than scare and man-handle beautiful animals. But, where there is money to be made, cruelty abounds.

@MyMonty55 Sharing our videos & info with everyone you can helps gain awareness. Also, check your state's animal cruelty laws. If there are exemptions for rodeo and livestock in them, contact your legislators and demand all animals get protection under the law.
im srry but i have2disagree with the "no going2rodeo" thing. im still going2go... jus bcuz only a few r harming animals doesnt mean every single1is. no horse is born wild, only that treat animals this way can make them agressive, i dont even think they are agressive if they get a time off with someone who love and care for them-i think they are death terryfied and not understanding a thing what is going on..from begining i believe that those animals was most willing to cooperate to someone they thought to live happy with and make pleased not someone who forced them to act in violence for their own survival ...
@marty6947 Good point. We're optimistic hearing from people who say they never will, or will never again, go to a rodeo because of the abuses we expose. It shows our tickets to get in and film actually takes money out of rodeo's pocket.
These animals are so beautiful. It's a pity they lack enough aggression in these situations to charge at the men and run them over til they're all paralysed. This is so sad.
@sarahoaks i do rodeos too. i am a junior compeditior. and rodeo has a STRICT code and conduct. if we do not treat them right we get fined. rodeo's in australia are very safe for the animals.5 weeks ago, an animal was hurt. the cowboy was fined and banned from 10 rodeo's. for example, the horses are left in a big long pastured paddok and 1ce a month are bought to the ring to see if they are healthy and well. they are then taken to a rodeo. the rspca is at every rodeo and vets are always on call.
I understand that these things happen as pictured here. And yes, this needs to be stopped. I would never go to a Rodeo that treated their animals in this manner. But I do enjoy Rodeos and many times I root for the animal. I don't believe they are all treated like they are in Cheyenne. They have taken this too far. But don't put all horse handlers in this group.
I doubt real cowboys would go out of thier way to harm the very livestock that means thier livley hood. Real cowboys care for thier animals, working day and night to care for their needs. If those animals are not well care for or at risk of injury it means the loss of that ranchers lively hood. The last thing a real cowboy needs is an injured animal. Real cowboys would never be seen doing these sorts of things in such away. What you see here are stupid pretenders.
Without a doubt, the most barbaric and cruel of all the "sports" rodeo enjoys torturing their animals with. These horses are deliberately terrorized, and brutalized, and "mugged". By humans. Historcaly on ranches they did break horses like that just FYI. And those horse are wild they are usually horse that have tried to be broken the easy way but were to wild.

@SHARKonlineorg telling people not to go to rodeos is utterly wrong because not all rodeos are like that. you don't have to watch the wild horse race and its "cruel" way of doing it as you say but what about the barrel racing and the calf roping i cant tell you that my horses are pampered as barrel racers and calf ropers and i help out in the rodeos and i can tell you that not one animal is abused
@ilovewranglerbutts11 We have plenty of video documentation showing calf roping for the extreme brutality it really is. Contorted bodies, strangled necks, broken limbs. Animals unable to walk anymore they need to be carted out of the arenas.

@hsalton- I train horses the natural horsemanship way. I have NEVER had to "break" a horse. I have never had a horse freak out like this EVER. It's all about respect, partnership, and trust. You don't get that from a horse by "breaking" them. Take some classes from some professionals and educate yourself. I have also halter broke many horses and they have NEVER EVER behaved this way. This is a complete lack of patience on the human's part, and all about forcing submission.

You really need to give more information. Most of your videos say the exact same thing every time. It's hard to get the footage, but what we need proof of is behind the shoots. You would think though by the first video it would all be shut down, but thats just not the world we live in today. I can't bere to see this happen, if you don't relize this is horse abuse what will show them? You also need to contact a higher up company, not just get donations and youtube video veiws.
@WondersCreated We are constantly in contact with law enforcement, state officials, media, etc. The reason rodeo has not been 'shut down' is because many states exempt rodeo livestock from cruelty laws which is what our videos are working to change through awareness. With these exemptions in place, the abusers are protected against prosecution and answer to no one for whatever they want to do with these animals.

At my country (Portugal) as in Spain, France, Mexico etc., bullfighting comes with the excuse of "cultural" and "art" as if the torture of a (helpless) animal could be any form of art or as if torture could be a sigh of culture.
Today it's much "better" of what it was (even in the beginning of 20 century) as horses when hit by bulls had their viscera put back inside the belly, mended as a bag with a needle and rope and rode again at the bullfight until drop death. There are photos of this.

@thekenniewitch Let's say you have this wonderful horse that you love to peices. He gets stolen and you find out who did it and go to the cops to get him back. How do the cops know he is yours? He doesn't have your brand, he has no other iteams of identification. You lose your horse and no one can help you. Branding, freeze branding, or marking the hooves is to keep your horse safe from being stolen, taken to an auction mart and shipped off to other parts of the country never to be seen again.
@13loyalex13 The answers to your questions can for the most part be summed up in one word - money. The town, and the businesses in the town make money from visitors with too much time and money on their hands. Cheyenne has sold its integrity for a show that abuses, maims and kills animals.
If the cops don't want to get involved is there anywhere higher you can take the pictures/videos? Do any animal welfare groups attend these events? I know if you did this to your own horse you would be fined, so why does it make it ok to do it on a mass scale? I'd say Karma would catch up with them, but I really doubt someone is going to take these people, terrify them, rope them up, hurt them, drag them break their legs and leave them to suffer with their injuries without medical attention.
@13loyalex13 Animal cruelty IS illegal, and yet look what happens to rodeo animals, the animals that are raised for meat, the animals that are raised for their skin and fur! Don't place too much faith in "animal cruelty" laws.

@SHARKonlineorg you obviously don't know a lot about horse buying. Slaughter houses and slaughter house buyers only pay up to two hundred to three hunderd for a horse. and IF you want a horse that they buy you ask them, and nine times out of ten they will sell the horse to you. My mum has done this on several occasions. Our one horse Willy was three monthes old when his mother was sold to the meat house. The meat buyer ASKED my mum to take him because HE didn't want the colt to go to slaughter.
@MistrusEvi No kidding kill buyers pay as little as two-three hundred for a horse. That's on the high end. Many people are happy to unload these precious, dependent animals for a measly 50 bucks. Just to wring as much out of that life as quickly as they can. Need gas money for their atv's, or the next rodeo entry fee. Or beer.

I've ridden and handled the horses that once were part of events like these. They sell the horses after they are done with them. The club I used to be part of trains them to be ridden by children. Interestingy, the training is minimal. The "wild" horses are in fact mustangs. They only act as they do in the rodeo because they have been terrorized behind the show, out of sight. Who knows what they do to them! Nine year olds can ride these horses and love them, why can't these people?

Reading these comments makes me confused. Personally I think that all types of rodeo is animal abuse - but some of these comments claims that there is some types of rodeo that's pleasant for both humans and animals.
Can someone please explain this to me? What kind of rodeo is "nice"? How do you treat the animals in that kind of rodeo?

Ok, The Cheyenne Rodeo is like the only rodeo that has treated there animals like that, and just one rodeo doesnt make all the others bad, i do rodeo and i rope steers. NOT all Rodeos are like this one, just remember that

@sarahoaks i do rodeos too. i am a junior compeditior. and rodeo has a STRICT code and conduct. if we do not treat them right we get fined. rodeo's in australia are very safe for the animals.5 weeks ago, an animal was hurt. the cowboy was fined and banned from 10 rodeo's. for example, the horses are left in a big long pastured paddok and 1ce a month are bought to the ring to see if they are healthy and well. they are then taken to a rodeo. the rspca is at every rodeo and vets are always on call.

I understand that these things happen as pictured here. And yes, this needs to be stopped. I would never go to a Rodeo that treated their animals in this manner. But I do enjoy Rodeos and many times I root for the animal. I don't believe they are all treated like they are in Cheyenne. They have taken this too far. But don't put all horse handlers in this group.

I doubt real cowboys would go out of thier way to harm the very livestock that means thier livley hood. Real cowboys care for thier animals, working day and night to care for their needs. If those animals are not well care for or at risk of injury it means the loss of that ranchers lively hood. The last thing a real cowboy needs is an injured animal. Real cowboys would never be seen doing these sorts of things in such away. What you see here are stupid pretenders.

Without a doubt, the most barbaric and cruel of all the "sports" rodeo enjoys torturing their animals with. These horses are deliberately terrorized, and brutalized, and "mugged". By humans. @hsalton- I train horses the natural horsemanship way. I have NEVER had to "break" a horse. I have never had a horse freak out like this EVER. It's all about respect, partnership, and trust. You don't get that from a horse by "breaking" them. Take some classes from some professionals and educate yourself. I have also halter broke many horses and they have NEVER EVER behaved this way. This is a complete lack of patience on the human's part, and all about forcing submission.

You really need to give more information. Most of your videos say the exact same thing every time. It's hard to get the footage, but what we need proof of is behind the shoots. You would think though by the first video it would all be shut down, but thats just not the world we live in today. I can't bere to see this happen, if you don't relize this is horse abuse what will show them? You also need to contact a higher up company, not just get donations and youtube video veiws.

@WondersCreated We are constantly in contact with law enforcement, state officials, media, etc. The reason rodeo has not been 'shut down' is because many states exempt rodeo livestock from cruelty laws which is what our videos are working to change through awareness. With these exemptions in place, the abusers are protected against prosecution and answer to no one for whatever they want to do with these animals.

At my country (Portugal) as in Spain, France, Mexico etc., bullfighting comes with the excuse of "cultural" and "art" as if the torture of a (helpless) animal could be any form of art or as if torture could be a sigh of culture.
Today it's much "better" of what it was (even in the beginning of 20 century) as horses when hit by bulls had their viscera put back inside the belly, mended as a bag with a needle and rope and rode again at the bullfight until drop death. There are photos of this.

I also noticed that one horse was branded. Branding is burning and should not be allowed.
If cowboy tradition is cruel, it should be done away with. Anyone who can see any "entertainment" in these events is either ignorant or a sadist.

@thekenniewitch Let's say you have this wonderful horse that you love to peices. He gets stolen and you find out who did it and go to the cops to get him back. How do the cops know he is yours? He doesn't have your brand, he has no other iteams of identification. You lose your horse and no one can help you. Branding, freeze branding, or marking the hooves is to keep your horse safe from being stolen, taken to an auction mart and shipped off to other parts of the country never to be seen again.

@13loyalex13 The answers to your questions can for the most part be summed up in one word - money. The town, and the businesses in the town make money from visitors with too much time and money on their hands. Cheyenne has sold its integrity for a show that abuses, maims and kills animals.

If the cops don't want to get involved is there anywhere higher you can take the pictures/videos? Do any animal welfare groups attend these events? I know if you did this to your own horse you would be fined, so why does it make it ok to do it on a mass scale? I'd say Karma would catch up with them, but I really doubt someone is going to take these people, terrify them, rope them up, hurt them, drag them break their legs and leave them to suffer with their injuries without medical attention.

@13loyalex13 Animal cruelty IS illegal, and yet look what happens to rodeo animals, the animals that are raised for meat, the animals that are raised for their skin and fur! Don't place too much faith in "animal cruelty" laws.

@Appaloosapinto Not until they get out of rodeo's hands. And then they're usually slaughter bound, no doubt to the highest bidding kill buyer. Whichever way they can make the most money off these animal' lives..

@SHARKonlineorg you obviously don't know a lot about horse buying. Slaughter houses and slaughter house buyers only pay up to two hundred to three hunderd for a horse. and IF you want a horse that they buy you ask them, and nine times out of ten they will sell the horse to you. My mum has done this on several occasions. Our one horse Willy was three monthes old when his mother was sold to the meat house. The meat buyer ASKED my mum to take him because HE didn't want the colt to go to slaughter.

@MistrusEvi No kidding kill buyers pay as little as two-three hundred for a horse. That's on the high end. Many people are happy to unload these precious, dependent animals for a measly 50 bucks. Just to wring as much out of that life as quickly as they can. Need gas money for their atv's, or the next rodeo entry fee. Or beer.

ya know i gotta say it - for them to be "wild" they sure look well groomed don't they. i mean if they were so wild i doubt they could get a hand on them. an obviously my comment is a bit of sarcasm cuz they are not wild horses.
Someone else mentioned them being mustangs - which would not surprise me after all the BLM is just as dirty as the cheyene rodeo so it would make snece if some animals were illegaly sold for this abuse to them for such an event.

I've ridden and handled the horses that once were part of events like these. They sell the horses after they are done with them. The club I used to be part of trains them to be ridden by children. Interestingy, the training is minimal. The "wild" horses are in fact mustangs. They only act as they do in the rodeo because they have been terrorized behind the show, out of sight. Who knows what they do to them! Nine year olds can ride these horses and love them, why can't these people?

Honestly what a real waste of such beautiful horses, honestly none of them deserve the title COWBOY if they're wasting horses like they're weeds or something..pampered? I'd love to see them run a spa with their so called "pamper" skills and see how far they get with that...
