Unemployment drops to 9.7% - 20,000 jobs lost

The government is cooking numbers. Trying to hide the real problems from the average american. unemployment is probably closer to 20% for people younger than 25 it is last I heard about 50%.

President Obama is a very intelligent man. He knows these numbers are false. Besides the political implication, what is his motive? Is he as great as you lefties thought he would be? not so concerned with the numbers,but the same people told me that there needs to be +20,000 jobs created every month for the economy to grow.those green jobs are going to take some time,and wont be a easy fix-all to the state of the current economy

besides 20,000 every month for the next 2 years would only be 480,000 jobs when we lost 8.4 million jobs in the last 25 months

There are two components that you need to implement into your formula if you are to understand insanity economics. 1 variable and 1 constant.

1.) Variable (BS) = Politians often lie

2.) Constant (IE) = Idiotic economists that do not understand the fundamentals of math.

Example of (BS) "the fundamentals of our economy are sound".

Example of (IE) "We are experiencing a steady 3% growth". 3% growth is not "steady" if it is year over year. That is exponential growth if you understand math.

Anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together can see the inconsistency with the statement "Jobs continue to be lost, unemployment rate drops". Obviously, the method they use to report unemployment is subject to massive disclaimers. Don't hold your breath for any recovery.

It angers me that they are able to lie to us......I have a college degree, perfectly healthy, my own transportation, excellent work history and I still can't get a job....I've even tried a gas station and 2 fast food places (just this month)!! I have probably applied to over 500 jobs since this recession started....and have only gotten one phone interview and one in person interview. Nowadays I don't even get a call back.

Probably about a million people have given up looking for jobs, so they are not part of the workforce which leads to reduction of total workforce which leads to decreasing unemployment rate. If the workforce is like 1 person and the person is employed then we will have 0% unemployment rate.

I dont really know much about economics but I dont understand how unemployment can go down when there are so many people losing jobs. I live in Southern California and I just graduated from High School and cant find a job nor can most of my friends. I go in and apply for a job and never hear back from them. Anyways, these unemployment numbers dont add up to me. I believe it's a lot worse than 9.7%

the u3 number is the first 26 weeks then you drop off that number.

u6 is the emergency unemployment

after you run out the emergency unemployment you drop off.

My girlfriend got laid off Sept. 2007. Right about the time things started ramping up.

2 weeks ago her unemployment ran out! She is now nowhere in these numbers!

The small business out of business cannot draw unemployment. They are nowhere in these number anywhere! How many of them are out there?
