Quando accadde il sequestro dell'Achille Lauro,gli americani rimasero impressionati dai nostri reparti speciali.

probably you were in Italy when military service was always obligatory,then you found eighteens who had not the desire to spend 1year in the military,while in Usa is voluntary.
But those kids who you found were the nephews of the men of Folgore division in El Alamein,or the men of Xmas who fought with their families bombed by the whole world...americans never tried that and when the 9\11 tried it looked like the war finished...

You might want to substitute someone else for Argentina. They got thrashed by Paraguay when they invaded the first time, and quit the war with Paraguay the second time, fifty years later.
They WERE on the winning side of WW II when Juan Domingo Perón declared war on Germany on 7 May, 1945. And the Malvinas......don't think so.

In WW2 we sent alpini troops in russian steppe! We started a war without technical capabilities (poor armor, no aircraft carriers, even poor small arms...) Proud to be italian, but trying to be objective

And,.. because of such incompitance, Italians in Croatia, ended up as the ultimate victims.
And after 1000s of these refugees turned up on its door step, it was Italy itself, who turned these people away.

haha, my grandfathers were there. They invaded on july 10, and they outsed mussolini 15 days later. they were engaged during this time. And another enemy they didnt not even come close to vanquishing, were the Greeks, who pushed them back into the far reaches of Albania.Cephallonia was another huge loss, when they turned on the Germans and surrendered. They did start winning alongside the allies when the co belligerent royalist military was formed.

WWII was a confusing and dark spot on thier military history. However, the Italian People, proved to be the warriors and heroes of the war, far more effectively. They showed the heart that is deserving of this tribute and pulled their military and country together in time to face the real enemy.

I indeed believe that the Italian army is competent. And the roman history is certenly a proud one. You just had a bit of a bad periode in the world wars but thats O.K. At least it is better then the dutch militairy. I cant think of a more oldfashion and underfunded army than that of holland.

Pur non avendo le tecnologie ed i mezzi ultimo modello come quelli U.S.A. (il nostro esercito riceve fondi esrtemamente esigui) i nostri soldati non hanno niente da invidiare a quelli U.S.A. .
Sono ben addestrati e motivati e motivo di vanto per il nostro paese.
In momenti come questi in cui i vecchi nemici (la Russia) fanno le loro vili prove di forza schiacciando gli indifesi è importante avere un esercito ben addestrato e potente pronto a difendere noi e i nostri alleati.
