one of my absolute favs in this duo of songs, "hurting each other" being sung live. how lovely. i really liked all of the pictures done as the video to these songs. thanks for the post. well done!
Yes, she was the best. One of the truly great singers with a style all her own. A natural voice, very feminine, warm, tender and womanly. Yet having been criticized for being overweight, she tried to control it. She tried and she tried. Who knew what it could lead to? It is not right to say she took her own life. She did not want to die. I don't think she (or anyone) understood what a serious condition anorexia was.
Now we know. From her tragic death, many have been saved. God bless her.
I can agree with daytodaybiznizz; The other "true talents" are Celine Dion, Whitney, Cher, Steisand, but Karen Carpenter (and Richard) were an unmatched Duo! Truly beautiful music and talent and feeling. I miss the 1970 decade (in my teens) and Carpenters were so much a part of the fun years. Thanks for posting neroli8676.
@LarryStaples Larry, when she willingly kept on not eating for so long because she was so obsessed with being thin and afraid to become fat, she knew it would eventually take her own life. Many advised her against it, but she persisted. Ergo, it could also be a form of suicide, only an indirect one, if you ask me.
I attended their concert in Yokohama while I was stationed at Naval Forces, Japan HQ. It was a magical, fantastic experience and both Karen and Richard were deeply appreciated by both Japanese and US members of the audience.
@johncfl Anorexia is so much more complicate than this------ . Have you read her biography- her mum drove her mad, you know. Happens all the time. I KNOW.
Nunca pasarn de moda, hicieron historia en la musica, ella tenia la voz más dulce y bella que he escuchado.....es una lastima que alla muerto por ese flagelo de la Anorexia tan linda que era.....
From the pictures here I can see that Karen was once a rather tubby child. I bet that is what got her into the anorexia stage, the horror at the very thought of being fat again.
aww this is so great did yuo record the concert version of the song??? that's a good idea, i did that with my jodie foster tribute, a song she sang. but omg i love this vidoe!!! she had the best female vioce in history!!!!
Please, come back :(

Yes, Poeticbee, I understand your comments.
It's just that so many rumors swirl around celbs, I thought you'd heard that she, 'took her life' in some manner.
Yeah, she was such a fragile personality--nobody really understood her pain.
She had such a beautiful voice, and to me perhaps the greatest ever. I could listen to her sing endlessly.
I'm an audiophile, and sometimes the audiophile community can have an air of snobbery--not liking pop singers, NOT SO WITH KAREN, SHE'S REVERED...

Karen didn't 'end her own life'...as in suicide. She died of complications from anarexia...her heart gave out--

good point. they were the 70s, but their sound goes back to the big bands of the 40s, and the pop sounds of the 50s.
talent is timeless.
