@aninjaboy11 No this guy is beast in wushu. Due to many ignorant people not undersstanding the difference, please do not mix up the two. It could be offensive to those who practice Kung Fu. (I am actually serious I am not trying to be sarcastic).
I miss the martial arts scene. Alex is great though. I love the Wushu forms. Jet Li is incredible at it. I took Tai Kwon Do for almost 3 yrs. Loved it, but had to go to college and didn't have time to continue. I wouldn't take it now as I'm too old to begin again. At least I still get to see some great martial arts movies.
@XanderZane You shouldn't give up because your age. Some of the greatest martial arts masters are older. If you think it's fun then you should definately go for it. My uncle is in his 40's and he has I think 4 blackbelts and is still taking classes. It's also a sport, it's good for you, and great for self defense. Some people become blackbelts in only 3 or 4 years. If you start now, maybe in a few years you can be a blackbelt too. Like they say, better late then never :)
@Verlast actually drunken boxing is derived into wushu (competition)... its originally part of kung fu(not compeition). but you're not wrong in your statement.
@JookLumFist theres this guy from pirates of the carabian and the korean guy from harold and kumar 1 and 2 this are the ones that came to my mind right away
They may dissappear as did Jason Scott Lee, sighs........ The day Caucasion women fatasize of asian men, is the day real asian americans get into hollywood.
@BehindUMan what? ive never seen him in anything other than on fight science, maybe he's a stunt man but he wasnt in any major role cause he's deffinetly not harold i'd recognize him right off
1st is modern wushu as we just see in this video, modern wushu do flip like gymnastic. Unfortunately, they cnt be use for a real fight as this was design for demo competition.
the 2nd is tradisional wushu, they did not flip in the air, mostly use hand and leg.they are deadly and design for a real fight, like Bruce Lee learning Wing Chun.
tradisional wushu have many types like Wing Chun,Chin Woo,n Chu Kar.tradisional in chinese called Chuan Thong while modern wushu called Taolu
Kung fu means refined skill or perfected art. So theoretically you can have a kung fu in cooking or a kung fu in sewing or gymnastics. However we aso see kung fu as a martial arts which refers to the tradition chinese fighting form and the 5 animal styles as well and its many many other styles. Wushu is mostly kung fu but more competitive.
whoop dee do, he may have some vietnamese heritage. is that relevant beyond that it may be his heritage? (careful, if you say yes, you may be a racist)
yeah, it was just a question, i never said that the question he asked was racist, i said that if someone believes his heritage is relevant beyond a few minor attributes might be racist.
Alex Huynh..yeah I didnt see him in Pirates as well but I was very fortunate to see him in Nat Geo Fight Science. This guy is so amazing and for those who had the time to meet him, you guys are so effin' lucky. I really want to meet him. He really has a heart of a warrior
Actually, as one commentor said "kung fu means 'hard work'". To an extent he is correct, but kung fu does not only apply to the martial arts. It is a life devotion. Someone that has devoted themselves to painting, that is their kung fu. Wushu encompasses China's martial arts. Their are many forms of wushu, such as nanquan (southern fist) and changquan (long fist) to name a few. While kung fu can be used to describe the martial arts, wushu is a more appropraite term as it directly relates to them
you seem to be unaware that wiki can be changed by anyone who knows how to work a computer.... wushu is the modern form of kung fu. kung fu means "hard work" and as said one commenter kung fu can mean a an artists painting. wushu is just another form of martial arts and anything you choose as a career will be your Kung fu. therefore wushu and everything else = kung fu
kung fu is just the martial arts term of china, like i said before kung fu means skilled person and it can be placed into any skill a person may have. for the martial arts of china the determine the style by what it is based on like tiger, the five style, eagle, or wolf so on and so forth.
@GrapeFruit0point2 Wushu originally meant "art of war" and meant any type of martial art. Modern Wushu however is just demonstrative, not a traditional martial art, actually not a martial art at all: entertainment, not for fighting, and can only be considered kung fu as in "hard work", pretty much the same as being a chef or breakdancer is still kung fu, which is true, just not a martial art.
You can't compare the strength of a strike from one style to another since the phyisical strength depends on the practitioner of the art, not necessarily the style.
LOL, you guys are all haters. None of you have half of the discipline to do what he does. Most of the time, when people are talking about how much someone else sucks/cant fight/how much of a better fighter they are......turns out that 99% of the time, they're just running their mouths....yes, I'm talking about all of you

@JookLumFist alot of Asians do get into Hollywood and are getting leading roles.
CrimesonWitcher 2 years ago
I would love to see that. I am Vietnamese myself, so I'm all for it.
My brother has a theatre major and its not easy. I still believe there is a bit of discrimination.
If there are lots of asians getting lead roles, most likely they are hot women like Kelly Hu, or that gal on Melrose etc...
Same goes for music, anyone hear of Coco Lee? discrimination to a mild degree....

Modern wushu is for demo.
Real kung fu men call kung fu gwok sut.
this means country's martial art.
bak mei, wing chun, southern praying mantis, etc... I do give credit to wushu's physical demands, but that's only half the battle.

frost310 3 years ago
wu shu is a modern art of kung fu
labargan 3 years ago
yeh its a lot of the same except more competitive
aldaan33 3 years ago
wu shu 是中文武术的发音。Kung fu是李小龙发明
的一个英语词汇,特指中国的武术。
Wu Shu is the pronunciation of martial arts. The word "Kung Fu" is the invention of Bruce Lee,which means Chinese martial arts.
My English is not good, please forgive
