I'm 16, this hits me so well. This is fucking awesome, I wish I was born 1960, in U.S. Almost everything except metal music before 90s sometimes 00s are damn great! I Wish music was still like this! :(
This is my chill song... Something as simple as enjoying the morning light, or waking up to someone or something you love... That's what I imagine when I hear this song. Helps me fall in love with life again when I need to.
TheNewsoul2 Oh man I hear ya. I could get a pack of winstons for 50 cents, a candy bar for 25 cents, and a coke for 25 cents. Nobody can tell us about a dollar old buddy. Wish it was some Sunday morning when I was a kid again.
just jump in your car, pop this in your ipod and just throw on the biggest sunglasses you can find and let the world roll on. While you just chill back and stand Outside of the box for a while!
Wow! Where did the time go? Those were the days! I wish I could go back sometimes! Now I have three kids that I love more than life but life is so much more complicated now. I enjoyed listening to this when I didn't have a care in the world. I love The Commodores and this is definitely one of my favorites!!!!! Classic!!!!

@TheNewsoul2 Your description in the info box painted a picture of how this song affected you and caused me to think about the great memories that I have with this great music! Thank you. It's called "youtube" - its for expressing yourself, your way and from your point of view!
@TheNewsoul2 I am a huge metal head but love all music and i for some reason felt the need to look up this song...I was born in 77 and have always wished i could have grown up back then...reading your comment just made me want to be there even more...i literally closed my eyes listened to the song and thought of what you wrote and was able to feel it...like i was right there with you...thank you!!!!
Although I am white, I too was 11, and your description also put me in tears, especially the name of the park, for us it was Somerset Park. And now, I hear this tune, I think of the gang.........That was life! Thanks for posting
@User9787 thank you for the comment this is my favorite song by the commodores and lionel richie is singing with them and i even like brick house by the same group
Ha! I wasn't even born by then (that was 17 years later), but when I read all these comments about life as a kid back then, gosh I wish I'd lived in those times. Not these days in which everything is commercial as hell - people seem to only look at money. Maybe that's why most kids these days get influenced by the mass media and stay inside to watch TV and play games on the computer.
@TheNewsoul2 I turned 9 in the summer of 77, and obviously grew up in a different place from you. But I gotta tell you man, in two paragraphs your words painted a very accurate picture of the way it was. All the cool adults and teenagers too at the time knew what good music was, and this is one of those songs that you could hear blasting out of neighborhood houses frequently :)
this reminds me, of when i went down ,to norfork virgina to be free & what a nice tyme indeed lying on the beach when , this song first came out!!! i did relate to this song to the upmost! thats why i play disss ,song ever once in awhile , to remember the time i had the most tranquility in thoes days!! relaxing & being content~~
I prefer playing out and i am only thirteen. Whats the point of playing football and suchlike with your thumbs when you can play it properly! Pointless!
I just sang this tonight at karaoke for the first time. I've always loved this song, and couldn't be happier that it flowed so smoothly and soulful. Hells yeah to Lionel and everybody else who gets this.
Just listened to the song again, it's funny how a song becomes engrained in your mind, growing up in the seventies was the greatest, even though now happily married for 30 years your mind can wander to another place with another beautiful lady just by a song
@divinegod102 Why do people like you have the urge to get upset over something so simple? So you really needed to curse at the kid, huh? Smh at you and everybody who gave you a thumbs-up. And the song is called "Easy." Lol, how ironic.
@LuanSpiceGuy Damn, so many people these days can't even properly read a sentence. Dealing with such numbnuts like you can be both amusing and intellectually painful sometimes.
@divinegod102 Man... WHY SO HATE? Please... First, you attacks people who ask for thumbs up, I mean, you CAN'T tell people what to do, they do whatever they want, and comment whatever they want, if an INSIGNIFICANT top comment bothers you, you sir, fail at life... I hate arrogant people like you, seriously.
@LuanSpiceGuy Boy, if you take me seriously then I don't even know what to do with the rest of you intellectually inept folks. Just listen to the song, aye? Maybe rub some of those Old Spice deodorants on your eyes.
@divinegod102 You tell me to just listen to the song, but it's YOU who keep commenting offending other people... You think you are the smartest person in the world, the most intelectual and stuff... but you know what? PEOPLE DON'T CARE! Stop offending people and try to be a better person (:
@LuanSpiceGuy I am in tears right now and I am really sorry for proclaiming myself the smartest person in the world. I apologize because I was abused as a child and the only way to cope with my feelings is to start arguing with other people. I am really sorry :(
@divinegod102 Oh sure... The "mark" of pseudo-intelectual people: Sarcasm. Let me try too... Oh sorry i bother you, you are so superior!!! oh my god i can't stand you!!1 Oh please don't say you are going to offend me again please i can't take it anymore!!1
I'm 43 years old and I love all music from Disturbed to The Gap Band But The Commodores and Lionel Richie are my favorite. Hell Yeah! That's music!!!!! I don't care who you are you can't not like this music!!!!!!
I was 16 meet this fantastic girl at the lake, even went up to Edmonton, my first love, we left on sunday morning. This song is imbeded in my life.Wish I'd never left her there that Sunday
Friends of mine had a band in Denver called 'The Motivation Machine' back in the 70s & 80s and they used to do a great cover of this song. Just want to say hi to Joe, Steve, Pete and the keyboard player Scott. Thanks for the good times.
This is a best music to listen with a special woman... YOU MY GIRL. Really, I desire that you, my love, read my message and don't forget: I'm crazy for you.
When people say to me, "I wish I had a time machine..." I always tell them they already do...just sit back, put on a track from your childhood like this one, close your eyes, and be instantly transported to that time again.
For me, this brings me back to summer in Philadelphia, ever changing groups of kids riding bikes, catching bugs, pickup games of touch football and stickball, going down the shore with grandma and grandpa (R.I.P.)...
MY SISTER DIED IN 06 OF LUPUS, THIS WAS HER FAVORITE SONG, WHENEVER I HEAR THIS I THINK OF HER COOKING BREAKFAST PLAYING THIS SONG R.I.P. MS. COLETTE McDONALD
they are literally just puppets, its the music industry that decides to change the image of music in general and the music itself of course
If you look deep into their personal life they were just regular people with passion for music. But of course again the media portrays them like they are nothing which leads to people judging them so quick without even thinking.
This was, perhaps, the biggest song of the summer of '77 and I fully understand why so many folks associate this song with good times. For me it was a "guilty pleasure" that I really didn't admit to my friends I liked. But, I couldn't help liking this great song. It made me proud that this band was from Alabama, my home state. This is a world class ballad with a fantastic break that includes really tasty guitar and brass accompianment....Don't forget the background vocals as they're great.
My Dad Is Mexican American And He Grew Up With This Music, I was Born In 1989 And He Played This, Earth Wind And Fire, Ect. To the Point I felt That I Was Back In those Days...Thank You Dad, For The Music!!!!..Memories
@TheNewSoul2 I was 13 in the Summer of '77 but I have similar memories of those times. Now or Laters! Ha! My mama threw my white butt out at 9am and I didn't come back in until supper and then back out again. Kids used to play outside all day long and it was a punishment to be kept inside.
You are right about that soundbytten, I would have rather got whipped than told not go go outside. Kids today would rather stay inside the house what a shame
@TheNewsoul2 We didn't have PC or X-Box at the house in those times. When this toys came out later - we all moved from the streets and stayed at home the whole day - trying to catch Turbo Pascal codes or playing Hired Guns or Laser Squad on 8-bit ZX Spektrum. Tdy with all that high velocity internet connection you simply don't have to go outside to hang up with your friends. :-D
@soundbytten So true. The outside was pure enjoyment. I hated when the street lights came on. Inside you had to go. Those were the good old days of peace and total enjoyment.
@soundbytten I was 13 too. I know exactly what you all mean! Being a girl though, I had chores to take care of first before I went outside - (hispanics put the house chores mostly on the females - at least back in the day they did) but it was great afterwards. Thanks for the memories.
@soundbytten I was twelve and same here!!! Couldn't wait to get down to the crick and catch my painted turtles and frogs and poly wogs!!! I would bring them home and show them to my mom and dad and off to set them free and climb the trees the next day... God I miss the best times of my life, if we only knew... lol

gaga, perry , bieber, pink. britney...WHY??????
paquitomoralles 7 months ago 2
@paquitomoralles its not them
they are literally just puppets, its the music industry that decides to change the image of music in general and the music itself of course
If you look deep into their personal life they were just regular people with passion for music. But of course again the media portrays them like they are nothing which leads to people judging them so quick without even thinking.

Favorite song by the Commodores along with Sail On from 1979

This was, perhaps, the biggest song of the summer of '77 and I fully understand why so many folks associate this song with good times. For me it was a "guilty pleasure" that I really didn't admit to my friends I liked. But, I couldn't help liking this great song. It made me proud that this band was from Alabama, my home state. This is a world class ballad with a fantastic break that includes really tasty guitar and brass accompianment....Don't forget the background vocals as they're great.

I still listen to this song and it takes me back.

@soundbytten
"punishment to be kept inside"

God I miss the best times of my life, if we only knew... lol

@soundbytten the funny thing is its punishment to go outside and now they would rather be whooped then leave the house
