Thanks for your comments. To answer your question, it takes a long, long time to create a video. As I get more practice with the software, I get a little quicker. I want to produce high-quality videos and these take a lot of time and patience. But I think the end result is worth it.
As for length, the video is just as long as it needs to be to accomplish the task I want to achieve.
Don't forget that there is a lot of additional material for the videos on my website.
how to learn english very fast and easy like a children song....can you show in a you tube...i m from malaysia....thank you teacher....hope god bless you.
in my opinion this video is cool [but I have to be honest I am not a beginner]
I find it very helpful and for me the pace is very ok-
I guess I would rather listen to English in a quick way, I dont know, maybe my brain concentrates on it every minute much more then in a slow or normal pace;)
Thank you for your comments. I think it's a cool video, too, and probably more suited to more advanced students. But we all have a pause button to slow things down a lot.
The more you listen to fast-paced speech the easier your brain assimilates it and can separate the words. When I moved to Spain I knew no Spanish and listening to it, I heard only a babble. As time progressed, I began discerning individual words that kept being used. Now I listen and understand all.
You say that it is a normal English speech. (I don't speak so fast in my mother tounge.) OK. But in everyday English conversation we don't have so many expressions or idioms concerning one topic. I mean that these expressions here blend into something which is pretty hard to distinguish at the first time. When we learn something new we want to listen to it carefully.
Thanks for commenting. You're quite right. Though this video has proved popular, it can be done better. I hope you find the "its" video a little more comfortable to watch. I'm just finishing a new one, about using "fun" and "funny". It's much better because I've listened to your comments and those of others and am trying to get it just right.
It is fast, but so is normal English speech. I think that the more the students listen to this video, the more they will be able to understand normal English.
I was asked by a Saudi Arabian student if I could make the videos shorter, so I thought I would experiment.
Viewing numbers seem to support me, though the counter stuck at 309 11 hours after posting. I'm sure YouTube will post real figures shortly.
This is not for every student, but we must cater for all needs.
I will continue to create the longer videos. I love making them, and they seem popular. But we ought to challenge students, not make life easy for them. These One Minute English videos will be challenges for those who care to take them.
I have added the audio and the typescript from this video to the podcasts on my website. You can listen to the words when you are away from your computer. The more times you listen, the more your listening skills will improve.
Hi, thanks for commenting on the video. Yes, it's fast, but so is normal English speech. If you never listen to normal English speech, you will never be capable of understanding it.
When we speak at a normal speed - as in this video - some of our words seem to disappear. This is because in normal speed speech we lose the stress on certain words, and drop letters or syllables in others. It is important to listen and hear which words are suppressed in speech.
Bienvenidos! :D
Así que también hablas español, eh? Bueno muy interesante el vídeo, cómo todos los que has hecho!
Saludos!

I`am always wondering how much time does it take to create such one video.
I suppose - very much time, maybe even 8 hours for one 10 minutes long video?
But it is a great job!
These video are very tasty, interesting and useful.
Maybe just I think better time for one video would be ~8 minutes. 10 minutes it is just a little tiresome because of hard concentrating.
But it is doodle. Better 10 minutes than nothing. :)

Why is it soooooooo fast? You have 10 minutes :-)))) not just 1 and a half . It is better to let the sight and sound sink into our memory.

I recommend using your pause button and playing the video several times if you want to improve your listening comprehension.
Please see the comments above.
The more times you play the video the better your brain will be able to understand what it is hearing.
