@UBZUKI Yeah Deon wrote arranged and played bass on the original version. It's on Harvey Mason's album M.V.P. and Harvey played drums and sang backup.
I love this song! It is so haunting, passionate and smoldering at the same time. It takes your breath and doesn't let go until you beg for it. Then you feel such a rush of sexual intensity!!
The only bad thing about this song is that it has to end!!!! Towards the end, he really gets going on the ad-libbing and the song begs for more time!!!!!! They just don't make music like this anymore!!!! Thanks so much for posting!!!!
@MegaTyler98 hold on but wait a minute...while he's singing..right at 2:35 - 2:53...(he's whispering "spell".....) sound cold. I be singing "you got me under your spell..say you will my MAN". Man this song is the coldest....people don't understand this type of music..
where are all the comments and views? this is classic genius. I so miss the 80's. This song was my shit! just reminds me of being a kid and having a crush on a cute boy. Everything was so simple. Music was easy life was too.......
I was in DC the summer this came out and they played this song to death.I was def under a spell the summer of 89! I loved it then and i still do.Nobody had heard it when I got back to school. It took me years to find out who sang this song.
This is my baby boo and I song, i love this cut so much, i love her even more, i just figured out the name and artist almost 2yrs ago, and finally found the CD, i got it for under $20, can you believe it. love is so amazing.
Love this! I have been trying to figure out who performed this song since literally the early nineties when I last heard it on the radio. I'm so glad I finally found it! Now if only copies of the CD weren't so scarce and pricey :)
I would love to post the remix from the promo 12" single! It's absolutely beautiful, beyond even this LP version! But I need to find out how... Does anyone know anything about how to do this? Educate me.
probably the most affordable and easy way to do so is to purchase an MP3 player that has a Line-In recording capability. (e.g. an extra Line-In jack from the MP3 player that can be plugged to either a turntable or a CD headphone jack.) Not all MP3 player nowadays have this feature, though there are stll a few brands out there which has it. Creative Labs and Cowon brands are good examples.
Thanks, NEGUTZCHT. I do have a way to get the audio streamed into the PC. I just don't know how to "YouTube" it, you know? How to actually upload to the web site. Pointers?
I agree totally with johnied8509. "Heaven Help Me" and "Spell" are the ONLY good tracks on this CD. Both of these tracks brings back nice memories from the late-80s, though.
JAZZRAZZMATAZZ: You mean you didn't like "Love Can't Wait?" That was such a good song from this album, very well produced and executed, not to mention great verses that break into a key-shifted chorus unexpectedly! And "Blue Envelope" is alot of fun too. I still listen to this album and enjoy it alot. I love Colin Campsie's and George McFarlane's production (the Giant Steps guys). Yes, "Me Or the Rumours" was kind of disappointing as a lead-off single, but I've gotten used to that as well. :-)
omg...................... i have been looking for this too 4ever and ahhh here it is thx, i would of never guessed, i googled it and found it off of someone eles's search oh yes thx again, im sooo turned on........
I used to love this song! It was underestimated at the time but a beautiful ballad! Thanks for posting do you have a link to the song so I can download it?

I can definitely hear the Earth, Wind & Fire influence on this song ;-)
Something about 80's instrumentation/production that was so epic & moving...
I predict that these kinda grooves will make a comback at some point soon, as history always reapeats itself when people run out of ideas!
Peace & Luv....
