This song brings back memories of the park around the corner from me when my friends and I would make flower necklaces and flower head bands, and run on the beach. What peaceful memories. Thank you for uploading it.
One of the best " feel good " songs ever made, and ever written . Gotta love the tight harmony and vocal range of the band also , the musicianship lacks a little but the vocals make up for it in a big way.
I bought this 45 along with Light my Fire by the Doors with babysitting money in 1969 when i was 12. Needless to say my taste in music was at both ends of the spectrum at the time. The Cowsills on AM radio, and the Doors on FM which was fairly new at the time except for classical music. We've come a long way since then. I still enjoy all kinds of music. I've always thought music was a gift and you shouldn't narrow yourself to just one type. Life is short. Explore!!!
@TheMustangsally75 We were blessed!! I was 9 with this one. You are not the only one with the love of 60's, 70's and on and on. I had an older brother and 2 older sisters, so needless to say~I love all of those decades too. Wouldn't trade it for the world. The 80's were MY favorite!
I am still a flower girl I have my grandaughters appreciating that time we cannot bring back also if you havent listened to San Francisco by Scott Mackenzie please do he was ahead of his time also enjoj!!!

I would like to express to y'all that the song > 'The Rain The Park And Other Things' is for me, one of the most pleasant and most beautiful of all songs !!!
it was a groovy time to be alive...a natural high....the world seems to have gotten more serious...more tense.....with bad music creating bad vibes...best to live in a bubble and go back in time.......
Great song. It definitely has The Beach Boys influence to it. I love the flowers in her hair and the harp ( stringed instrument). Classic 60's of a corny, but happy times.
Oh the ass I made out of myself with this song. While daydreaming one day in the lunch room I was kind of lip syncing this song and looking at this girl I was currently infatuated with. She saw me doing it and the rest of my high school days were hell. lol She never missed a chance to rub it in. Kathy? I was nuts about you. Why couldn't you have left it alone?
I love this song -- it's one of the too-rare "feel good songs" and I believe it's timeless, the beautiful lyrics and orchestra -- unmatched! Thank you!
I love this song and video, wow! I was 16 when this came out. Very nicely done, and this girl is very pretty! I especially love the flowers in her hair. Great job.
Nature only gives us so many leggy beauties, seems the French & German's got their fair share. So you must go to maybe Grand Rapids or Woonsocket. Oh I forgot about The Twin Cities; the Swedes!!
this song brings me to my youth.....was 17,,loved this girl and she loved me!!!! life was great.....time separated us and we went our own ways,,still think of her though...my age now 60 years
This is a fantastic song...and it didn't take some 'dumb' movie for me to discover it. Thank God I don't have that association with it. This is a classic, not some track off a stupid film.
@jenzeppelin oh arnt you just fantastic? This is a great song.It was a great song before Dumb and Dumber. It is a great song now.But who cares if dumb and dumber is the first place some people heard it? it brings it to a new audience. If you love this song so much be grateful its getting even more attention! And Dumb and dumber is a sublime film-not stupid in anyway other than the two main characters! a razor sharp timeless comedy that is standing the test if time as we speak-it is a classic also
Others; Electric Prunes (Hard), Seeds (Mine), Cowsills (Park), Seals&Crofts (Diamond), Marvin Gaye (Trouble), Allman Brothers (Midnight), Eric Clapton (Father), Chaka Khan (Fire), Deep Purple (Battle), Al Stewart (Cat), David Gilmour (Island), Steppenwolf (Movin), Elton John (Eyes), Olive (Alone), Enigma (Return), Traffic (Walking), Robert Plant (Love), Don Williams (Believe), Collective Soul (Shine), Giles Reaves (submerged), Grateful Dead (Street), New Artist 2010: Jackie Evancho (Pie Jesu)
This beautiful song brings me back to a much happier time. when I did wear flowers in my hair.. OMG I was so blessed to be born in the 50's to appreciate all of the phenomenal music of the 60's & 70's....A time of Wonder & Joy!
OMG i feel so blessed each day , think about it,,,to be a member of the Class of 1974,,the best year in History to graduate high school,,,Homer Simson agrees..
This song was current in Sept/Oct 1967, when I was a freshman in college. It was up against Sgt Peppers and Light My Fire, and yet it was a trenedous hit. I would give everything I own to go there again, but time travel is not available to us. Yet. I am waiting and hoping.

Vietnam was a horrible experience to be sure for our generation in the 60's. However, the topic in the post concerns the fantastic stereo "MUSICAL EXPERIENCE" in the music of the era. Todays liberal public education has certainly made it difficult for some to concentrate on the subject being discussed.
@Classyrepublican This a song. Why do you bring politics up? It's just a song. Vietnam was a total waste of over 50,000 american lives to help a corrupt govt. from being taken over by another govt. Not America's problem.
This song must be heard with headphones. Like so many recordings in the 60's, the microphones were spread around to pick up instruments and vocals separately allowing the listener to enjoy a fantastic stereo experience. Growing up in the 60's was a blessing-America was going to the moon, muscle cars, music, and girls were amazing. It was an amazing and happy time when everyone was growing, experimenting, and loving life.
This song describes "Perfection At It's Every Point", ........too bad american women are no where near this status. So i know my real wife is waiting for me overseas. Other than that, FANTASTIC SONG!!! I love this song, it gets me in a great mood. :)
Ironic the title is "The Rain,The Park and Other Things".....when you remember that one of the singing Cowsills was killed during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
Ironic the title is "The Rain,The Park and Other Things".....when you remember that one of the singing Cowsills was killed during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
Ironic the title is "The Rain,The Park and Other Things".....when you remember that one of the singing Cowsills was killed during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
If ya listen very carefully to the lyrics of this song, it's actually quite a sad little song, 'cos the bloke falls desperately in love with the flower girl, then, he turns his back for one minute, and she's gone, (without a trace)- how sad is that?! :(
Not nearly as sad as if he'd stayed home because of the rain and not met her. When he sings "she had made me happy", we all knew what had happened, and it was just perfect that she went on to make some other guy happy in the next rainstorm.
First heard this song when our neighbor was washing his car and had a transistor radio playing in his gargage. I was very young, but I remember that moment to this day
This song brings back memories of the park around the corner from me when my friends and I would make flower necklaces and flower head bands, and run on the beach. What peaceful memories. Thank you for uploading it.

@Classyrepublican what about the Vietnam War?? That doesen't sound like a happy experience.

If ya listen very carefully to the lyrics of this song, it's actually quite a sad little song, 'cos the bloke falls desperately in love with the flower girl, then, he turns his back for one minute, and she's gone, (without a trace)- how sad is that?! :(
CockneyRebel1979 1 year ago 6
Are you going to be alright? The flower girl has been missing for 43 years now. OK Group hug here we go! Ha Ha!
