@quidsup Actually, i've tried Backtrack4. It's not worse, but I just prefer 3.
I haven't tried 13.37 on slackware, which I think is the current new one.
And upon the topic of Ubuntu, gfx wise it might be behind, but actual bug fixes, 8.10 is WAYYYY ahead.
the 9 series was nothing more than putting lipstick on a pig, 10 introduced more problems than it fixed, and i'm afraid to even attempt to try 11/12......
quidsup i have tried badly to use opensuse which have this 8 months cycle for the last to releases and failed in both times.do you know that mobile broadband is not working since opensuse 11.3 and fedora 14 and scientific 5,i have tried their latest beta and still no luck.never had this problem with the ubuntus and sabayon, sure ubuntu 11.04 was not stable for the first 3 weeks (if you fiddled with compiz),but shaped to be very stable since. rapid release is a must to keep up with lion/windows8
I think Ubuntu should wait 4 years between stable releases like Debian does! LOL Haha... That would piss too many people off! LOL Anyway... Where DOES Mark come up with these cRaZy names! LOL
@TheGeo913 lol. There was a wiki page on the ubuntu website with a long list of crazy names, I looked at it a couple of days ago but its gone today :-(
Google search "ubuntu names" you can still see the cached version

Linux Mint 12 will have Gnome 3, but will also keep the Gnome 2.32 desktop as well, better to use Mint.
johncartwright302 3 months ago
@johncartwright302 They're keeping both? Interesting to see how they manage the packages for them both in the same system

No offense but this is one of the worst review video i've ever seen. Apart from the name of the distro, what information you presented anyway ?

So in that sense, Ubuntu has gone NO WHERE.

Pimpin Penguin would've been awesome x) rofl.
I wonder what it will be like though... perhaps they will use wayland?
And the changes to Unity by that time will be interesting..
testingte 4 months ago
@testingte Wayland was one of the proposed things I heard mentioned a while back.
Alls I would like is faster boot time, faster wlan file transferring, and ability to change number of mouse wheel scroll lines in Gnome.

@Manchunia88 Its on my todo list. Focus for the next few vids will be about Ubuntu 11.10
quidsup 4 months ago
@quidsup A nice hint for you on using 11.10 is how to extend the time before screensaver is on.
Simply use startup manager to manage the time left before the screen dims.
