  • Captivating storytelling! Thank you for sharing your work like this. While I agree that your writing is good enough to publish, I must admit I do quite prefer the special charm and delivery that you add in your videos.

  • you should wright books!

  • Thank you for making these videos, i am a 16 year old boy in america and i agree with c0000lcat with him saying that i would rather watch your videos than any other stupid things!

  • Like this if you think This man should be a Author/Writer

  • My phone began ringing as you got into the story_ ignoring the phone's demanding ring tone was easy, so well did your story telling hold me. However much truth or the lack thereof, thank you for the drama. Excellent!

  • Having just finished a creative writing class and communications, I will be the first to attest to the difficulty of writing and editing a paper under time constraints. You did a wonderful job and your deliver was spot on. I look forward to more of your short stories.

  • Wow, your technique for telling a story changed--very good. Like the dramatic special effects.

    Happy New Year!

  • Excellent story, masterfully presented Peter! There's been too many boys who have met an early demise in just such a situation.

  • You are such a cheeky devil. I thought "what the hell is the matter with him? Where is this story going to lead?" and then came the unveiling of the story. Beautiful. Peter, you are a lot of fun. I wish I could meet you some day.

  • good suspense and imagery! I enjoyed this :)

  • Thank you for an interesting story again. I listen to you whenever I have time.

  • happy new years peter, and many more to come. <3

  • Great Peter!

  • Great story and great reading Peter. Thank you. Have a splendid New Year, Ciao.

  • Aw GrandDad, Thanks so much for sharing with us.. You are very talented and combined with your voice and demeanor, I always thoroughly enjoy your stories. I wish you would recite more of your stories on a regular basis or compile a book of stories. I for one would be very interested in purchasing it.

  • @Tessietots Im not saying this with flippancy but I do really love you and consider you a GrandDad. My online GrandDad and have been watching you for years. May God Bless you this new year and I hope to see and hear much more from you. x

  • is this a true story or are you making it up

  • @basicloner Elements of the story had some truth in that I did stay with the son of the Reeves family when they went out with my parents but the rest is imagination.

  • @geriatric1927 do you watch dr who.......theres 40 years of episodes you have to like some of it

  • what a great story

  • i like this! is there more?

  • This was so great, you are so cool.

  • i just turned seventeen, and i swear i would rather sit down with you and have a cup of coffee and just listen to you tell stories about the past, or even ones like this, instead of going out and partying, or watching tv all day long. more teenagers should watch your videos.

  • @c0000lcat Thank you, it is nice to know that some young people like yourself look at my videos. I have written many more stories but they are too long to read and keep the attention of many.

  • Would love to hear more of the stories you have written :0)

  • Thank you Peter, and have a lovely New year celebrations :)

  • Excellent story! You should share more like this! Happy New Year to you!

  • Thank you, Peter. That was a great story. You reminded me that at that time, when I was just a toddler, and we lived in Gorse Rd. (you know it), my father was in the Home Guard. He was a reserved occupation engineer working at LSE. We had a ditch at the bottom of the garden, formerly a cesspit, and my mother made him keep his rifle in it. She would not allow a gun in the house. Those days were so long ago, but your stories always bring back those memories as if they were only yesterday.

  • You had me hook, line and sinker waiting for what would be in that suitcase! To my relief I am pleased it wasn't a body...lol

A great story and well told. I did enjoy your pauses for refreshment, removal of your tie etc. So relaxed and homely...altogether lovely Peter.

  • You are a very talented man. Be proud.

  • What a very interesting story Peter! I love the stories of your youth!

  • I love your stories!

  • You are such a good story teller! I love how you did those dramatic pauses. I was hanging on every word!

Oh yes, Merry Christmas to you and a Happy New Year!

    Love,

    annie in NH USA

  • Bravo, nicely done...

    O,

  • Great story, I had no clue what he was pulling out of that case, Keep going I love to listen. Love ya Happy New Year!

  • Dayaaam! You are such a good story teller!!

  • BRILLIANT!!!!!!... Well Done!

  • @Gorguruga Our sessions were over a two hour period I think, some of which was discussing previous work so perhaps one and a half hours of work, scribbled down in long hand but we did do a little editing at home before presenting the piece for criticism the following week. I don't think that I edited this piece very much as it is a true story....apart from the ending.

  • Hi, Peter, It's been awhile since I've visited your site. I'm glad to see you are still enjoying social networking and sharing yourself with the world. You have a gift.

  • Oh what a nice story, Iremember my mom told me so many stories about the war from her childhood in Toronto during WW2, some sad, some funny, some unbelievable compared to how it was when I was young, and my dad telling me some stories about how it was in Quebec City during WW2, all memorable, take care and have a good day!

  • The Sweeney Todd reference worked for me, due to Tim Burton's movie (starring Johnny Depp). Praise be to mdern cinema!

And I know that, as a kid, I had my share of kinda distorted views on certain grown-ups + their ways, too. Looking back today, nothing much of that remains, of course, but back then, you could not have talked me out of it.

Unlike the subject of this story, though, I never had such an experience. The war had been over to long (thankfully), and I didn't live in the USA, either..

  • @Truedantalion

Addendum: "and I didn't live in the USA, either.." - in reference of weapons to be found there in way more households there than I will ever be able to understand.

  • Even in the 70s, Adults were always refered to as Mr or Mrs... And the best friends of Mum & Dad were refered to as Auntie or Uncle. My dads best friend was about 7ft tall, he went everwhere on a bicycle. A realy great guy, Always called him Uncle Harold, He would probably be in his late 90s, if he were still alive. But if he was he would still be Uncle Harold. Such a great guy he was. A bit like you being "Grandad" To so many.

  • Great story Peter!
