  • Teisted Matal, Warhawk! so win

  • twisted metal looks fun

  • All those games were great.

  • Ah, the American video game advertising cliche: "YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF HANDLING THIS AWESOME MACHIIIIINE!!! ROOOOARRR!"

  • shows how far we've come!

now I can get all nostalgic:)

  • PS1 was so ahead of its time :)

  • Thank you for giving Sony the corporate backstab, Nintendo! If it weren't for you guys, we wouldn't even have a PlayStation.

  • @PlayStrum The reason Nintendo didn't go with Sony was BECAUSE they told them they were planning on making their own console. Nintendo didn't want them making the CD N64 attachment because they feared them learning the innerworkings of the N64 AND Genesis and they didn't want them making some crazy hybrid or something like that.

The playstation would have came out regardless if Nintendo kept Sony making the cd attatchment or not.

  • Toshinden was the $hit back then!

  • It's the best videogame console off all times

  • one of the many revolutionary platforms innovating the industry . Ps1 , ps3 , xbox 360 , N64 , Sega dreamcast , and many other have innovated the industry

  • I don't know why, but I suddenly have the urge to try and reserve a playstation.

  • RUSSIAN WOMEN HELP SELL EVERYTHING

  • mistress Sophia XD

Didn't know Sony was into BDSM stuff...

  • WARNING ... MAY CAUSE EPILEPTIC FITS

  • Madden NFL '96 was the only one of that list that wasn't ever released on PS1. It was scrapped in favour of '97 which was released exactly one year later, deserving very good reviews.

  • ps1 was the best with tekken 3, spyro, crash, grain trismo, tiny tank and alot more

  • I couldn't wait for the U.S. release so I imported a Japanese PS and FREAKED OUT! I bought the only 2 games available at the time, Ridge Racer and Toshinden and my friends and I played the crap out of them! This was back in April 1995. A month later I bought the U.S. Saturn and loved it as well. Daytona wasn't as polished as RR but it was still awesome. Damn those were good times! I miss the PSX and Saturn. I think I will hit ebay and get them again along with a ton of classic games! WOOHOOOOO!!

  • :D

    loving the idea :)

  • Great Memories Back me In T_T PS 4ever...! *****

  • The 32-64 bit eras were the best, although I hhave faint memories of it.

  • LOL just sayin' bro that might be part of it--the 32-64 era did rock but so did the PS2/XBOX/GC era and, especially on PS3, this gen is heating up--I love some of the new franchises like Uncharted but I also REALLY love downloading classic and quirky games to my PS3--Flower, Jumping Flash, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Street Fighter Alphas and Fat Princess FTW baby!

  • music?

  • Comment removed

  • i remember playing mortal kombat 3 and street fighter the movie <_< (what a horrible game) and most of all playing battle arena toshinden waiting for tekken to come out :D

  • if I count out final fantasy, gran turismo, tekken and metal gear solid

  • Okay, if you say the n64 was better, then why did it take so long to come out and why did the ps1 have overall better graphics than a 64 bit system ?

  • what do you mean 'better' ?

did ps1 have texture filtering, motion blur and even bump mapping?

    it did not

also n64 could display textures of higher res and more polygons on-screen, it just had some stupid limitations that prevented it from destroying ps1 (which it could because it was three times stronger in theory)

  • anyone can see a difference between ps1 and n64 graphics if you hook them up on the tv (ps1 has pixelated, shakey graphics)

  • The graphics look on par to me, however you are correct about the pixelation and the textures. But remember, the PS1 is 32 bit and the N64 is 64 bit.

  • check out donkey kong 64 and tell me if ps1 could do such lighting

and check out perfect dark and show me a prettier ps1 shooter

  • the only game that really pushed the ps1 was gran turismo 2, other stuff would have been easily done on the n64 if it used cds instead of cartridges

on the other hand, games like donkey kong 64, perfect dark, majora's mask and conker's bad fur day wouldn't run on the ps1 very good

  • PSX never had better graphics then N64, what are you talking about?

  • @nooblet911

    What are you on dude?

The n64 came out years after the PS1.

    PS1 - 1994, N64 - 1996/97 (Correct me if im wrong).

However the PS1 did blow away the Sega Saturn, which came out 12months after the PS1 I believe.

The N64 should not be judged next to the PS1. Two differnet consoles.

    Maybe the N64 and Dreamcast.

  • well, ps1 and n64 were widely compared with each other hence both beeing 32/64-bit consoles and co-existing at the same time. dreamcast was more comparable to the ps2

  • ps1 came 94 in japan and 95 in us and europe, while n64 came out 96 in japan and the us and 97 in europe. the saturn came before the ps1.

  • @nooblet911 Thats 2 years dude, between PS1 and N64. Surely you cant compare them?

Thats even MORE embarassing. I thought the Saturn came out after the PS1.

The Saturn got stamped on by the PS1 even though it had a head start. Lolz at that.

  • they both belong to the '32/64-bit' era of consoles (other consoles of that era were the sega saturn, atari jaguar, amiga cd32 and 3do) and they both have comparable capabilities, but n64 has aditional features like texture filtering (= not blocky textures).

ps1 came out by the end of 1995 in the us while n64 came autumn 1996 in the us.

  • the saturn failed because sega didn't have enough developer support and because sony had much more marketing power.

  • @nooblet911 Not just that.Sega had alot of systems already on the market and they didnt show commitment to.The Sega Nomad(portable sega genesis),The Sega Genesis II and the Sega CD.All these systems were out and then they decide to jump into the market with the Saturn. It was foolish and it helped their inevitable downfall with the death nail being the dreamcast

  • ps1 was more revolutionary and strayed away from games being associated as toys , theyre not theyre a medium of entertainment and ps1 got more adult games like grand theft auto started , N64 has alot of good console FPs games though so theyre both revolutionary , jus ps1 seemed a little more due to Discs and mature games , and game systems playing Cd's

  • @jtgtjtgt 100% correct.

With the name Sony and how the promoted the console, it just all came together in the mid 90s.

Youth culture, the times, it just all worked, and it was a good console to boot.

  • I miss the original PlayStation :(

  • was Asst Manager of a Software Etc when this system came out. I could recite this video word for freaking word during the summer of 1995, having to hear it so many times per day. Man this brings back memories. Not good memories, but memories nonetheless. Thanks for posting it!

  • the ps1 woz and allways will b a true ledgend in my eyes !

  • I miss those days =] crash bandicoot was... eh hem... is, my favorite game ever.. the old one... not this shit they have now for ps2 and game boy

  • @vanin2008 The PS2 and Game Boy were good systems as well.

  • Oh man those were the days, for you guys making fun of the graphics this was revolutionary considering this system came out when all we knew was 2-D sprite based graphics (snes-genesis) I remember going to Sears and Software Etc (Gamespot now) and be amazed at how different the games played and looked, I remember looking at the Saturn and getting one cause I didn't think Sony was wanna make it in the market, I'm glad I bought a Playstation too a year later and enjoyed the first Gen of 3D games.

  • They state 'realistic' right before they show mortal kombat 3 hilarious!!!

  • haha, super-awesome, I remember the PS launch, those were the days man..

  • I think it's cool that they got the same actress in Battle Arena Toshinden to be in that video. :)

  • I don't recall even seeing a controller for Playstation without the joysticks...they must have come out in the late 90s

  • the joysticks ones didnt come out till later, thats all we had were the normal ones

  • @vanin2008 There were two of them, first one didn't have vibration.

  • This is pretty damn cheesy, but compared to the art house trash their using for advertising now, it's a masterpiece.

  • twisted metal was such an awesome game, the first one was just perfect, total carnage on one disc, they ruined the series after that, TM black came close but just not quite enough to replace the original in my opinion

  • LOLOLOL THE GRAPHICS OMFG SO BAD.

    but back then....

  • *As creative as this right now.

  • Wish Sony's advertising was as creative.
