I love those GP-40X's and i plan on getting at least 6 for myself. 1 for the one IC had, 2 undecorated and custom painted for Rock Island, and 3 in SP. I'm creating my own new Rock Island railroad.
Those two GP40X units (the prototypes) run on the St. Lawrence and Atlantic here in Maine, NH, Vermont and Quebec albeit they've been rebuilt once with short hoods and a 2nd time into "mother" units along with "daughter" units. This rebuilding took place at shops on the Yuccatan Penninsula a handful of years back. I see the old 7000 and 7002 quite often albeit renumbered from their original #'s. They do still feature their flared radiators.
Did you know the front coupler is miising. Yes, the high nose is great. I'm looking for some SD40-2 units in high hoods. Its give my roster some variance. Have you seen my roster?
Athearn is releasing some new NS High hood SD40-2's in the rtr line due in Sept. numbered 3214, 3218, and 3234. I'm going to just get 3234 if I can't afford more than one.
Look for download link, download the 'lite' version. It will connect to my computer here, which is connected to my DCC layout. YOu can see a live video from the camera in the cab.
Yes they are nice engines. I'm surprised too at the way they handle. They run pretty sooth with TCS T1 ddecoders in them. Have you looked at my home page? Did you try out my software??
Nice video! I am getting NS 7002 soon!
