Thats really impressive, I was wondering if u could do an instructional video on how to mod yur stylophone like this, coz i couldnt find the guide anywhere on yur blog :/ thanks alot
Definitely the most useful mod for the Stylophone I've seen. The MIDI vid is a cool novelty, but this filter / feedback mod actually seems useful. So, please, an instructional would be much appreciated!
My red wire is still connected to the battery box but disconnected from the rest of the circuit. Can anyone tell me where their red wire should connects to in the stylophone?
I've opened one of these up as a future first circuit-bend project, and the black wire from the battery case has come apart from the circuit board (crap soldering...). Any idea where it's meant to be attatched to?
And how did you get that sweep sound? It's class!
Black wire (on mine) goes to the little circuit board in the corner next to the headphone socket. Middle solderpoint on the side nearest the outer casing.
And how did he get that sweep sound? I can get noise, just nothing quite as musical :)
Thanks sorta figured it out when I noticed the mountain of solder and corrosion behind the ON switch with nothing connected to it! I got it to play normally while it was dismantled, but I ended up tearing up the 5-wire ribbon between the oscillator board and the keyboard board, and I'm clean out of wires...
Judging from the sound he either feeds the end sound back into the circuit somewhere through the dial, or makes something like the "pitch-bend" dial underneath the stylophone.
I have a feeling if I had this, I could recreate Still Alive. :P

Thanks Lazenbleep! You're a saint!

@MarsHottentot no probs.
this is a classic example of connecting 2 random points through some kind of resistance, in this case a potentiometer/variable resistor

Very nice! Could you give a link to your guide? I couldn't find it on your website.
Cheers!

thats amazing - please tell me how you did it or if you will sell me one! Its made me think mine is boring now.

well i could do you one, or you could 'circuit bend' it yourself. i have a guide to circuit bending on my blog, link in the video description!

I've answered my own question! Red wire in mine needed to be connected to the same solder blob as the stylus.
