@salsburysteakjr He's been dead now for 25 years and he may be more popular today than at any other time. I think Katrina wiping us out also reminded us why we had to rebuild New Orleans. Brass Bands and Zydeco music is more popular with us locals now than ever because frankly, we realize we almost lost it. Did you ever think you would ever hear a cool accordion? (Tubas are cool down here too)
@9thWardJukebox I think the only other man on earth capable of making accordians and tubas sound cool is Tom Waits. It can be so exciting to hear an instrument put to music it's wholly unconnected with, and see if it somehow compliments it.
@salsburysteakjr Tom Waits is not a musician. He is an artist, visionary and purely a misunderstood genius. "I Don't Want to Grow Up". I am obsessed with that song and it's meaning. Not going to "rant" here bit there is no reason why any university philosophy class doesn't spend a semester on his songs. The music class should have 2 semesters.
I've love this song ever since I was a tot in the hills of Arkansas.
Such wonderful people the Cajuns who have given so much to so many in their songs, and good deeds.
