V1 has some timing issues though! So it's more likely to be trouble free with a V2. The timing problems with V1 aren't solved in this update. Head to wiinewz if you have problems.
Thank you for taking the time to document the process. It makes the rest of us that much more comfortable when we do our upgrades.
Just out of curiosity, did/do you have an issue where if you completely shut down your Wii (i.e. red power light) and then turned it on, the drive would not work for several minutes? If you had the issue, did the 1.2 upgrade fix it?

i ordered a version 1 wasabi chip yesterday. i dont need the version 2 as mine is a d2c wii like yours.
it should arrive on manday and then i have a guy lined up to install it.
do i need to update my wasabi once he has installed it or will it work without updating?

Liteon LH-20A1S.... using imgburn.
It shouldn't be any different than burning any other gamecube/wii disc.

I had very few problems initially with my Wasabi - it does, subjectively, seem to respond quicker than it did now.
If you have been having problems as you described, it is probably worth updating.
