This film was magnificent, fortunately did make a nice adaption after the novel. I just saw today that Hollywood made a version set in LA about a "sensitive writer" and it has to do with producers and well in short IT MADE ME FUCKING SICK. Why can't Hollywood and it's wealth of garbage leave beautiful art alone??? I do not intend to see the new film of course, but this was brilliant and Per Oscarsson was perfect for this role.

I m really sorry, that i never heard anything about this film. Seems to be really good. Maybe it was not shown in Germany. I will try to find a dvd anywhere.

I absolutely love this movie. Knut Hamsun is one of my all time favorite authors.

This movie is magnificent! Definitely deserves more attention. I'd recommend watching it after reading the book ("Sult"; hunger) by Hamsun. Highly recommended to fans of John Fante, Kafka, Camus, Strindberg.
