If this band ever plays at the State Theatre in Pennsylvania, I would surely die a happy man. I am such a huge, HUGE fan (Hades quote from Hercules the animated series)
This was the very first song I heard by this group. After I heard it, I instantly fell head over heels in love with the band. I listened to nearly every song they made and downloaded most of them.
When I heard Richie say that he considered medieval and rennaisance music to be REAL music, I highly praised his opinion. I would prefer to listen to Blackmore's Night, Dubliners and any other musician in this genre than today's bands
Hmmmm... Renaissance was 14th-17th century, but "The historical basis of King Arthur is a source of considerable debate among historians. King Arthur first appears as a legendary king of the Britons in 9th century sources, more than three centuries after his supposed floruit in 5th to early 6th century Sub-Roman Britain. "
Beautiful voice. Gorgeous face. Infectious smile. Damn, Candice is so breathtaking! You definitely know how to choose them Ritchie! I wouldn't trade Candice for all of King Midas's gold or even Eternal Life on the thrones of the Lords of the West. Candice is truly our Luthien of this world. (Luthien was the most beautiful and fair of the elves of Tolkien's Middle-Earth for those who may not know.) I truly hope Ritchie and Candice are together for decades to come, in this world and next.
@WarHawk81A2 You are so right, there really aren't that many women like Candice out there in today's word. Some women prefer a world of Malls and shoe sales than a simple, beautiful world of the renaissance and medieval eras like Candice does.
I'm not saying all women are like that, mind you. I'm only saying that when most people think about Renaissance faires and the mythical, they just think that those who like it are D&D wannabes and rejects
Who hath made thee the gatekeeper? Canst thou call to the raven circling on high; "come hither" and have it light upon your arm? Many seek a uniqueness where we believe ourselves to hold the key to some ancient mystery or special secret where we define ourselves as the possessors and all others as without . . . "to be or not to be" . . . many expend much effort attempting "to be" when nothing could be more natural . . . your arrogance is akin to many religious groups--were you born a "rennie"?
I cannot claim to be the possessor of "the key to some ancient mystery or special secret" if I possess anything it is available to all who seek. For truly, the writers of the Dark Side of the Moon said it far more eloquently than I could ever hope to ". . . all that [I] touch and all that [I] see, all that [I] taste, all [I] feel . . . is all [my] life will ever be . . .." Unless, Napoleon Hill (and others) in his classic work "Think & Grow Rich" is correct about a Sixth Sense . . . Peace
This is a dance from Tielman Susato's book of dances I believe, true renaissance, and its hugely popular in renaissance circles on recorders, crumhorns, percussion, etc. There is a very large following of early music, it certainly isn't dead!!
Ritchie you are the worst wizard ive ever seen but your wife is the most beautiful Faerie Queen ive ever seen :) awesome track i love it!!! you are both wonderful!!!
beautiful stuff. this is sure a far cry from the deep purple days, but whatever ritchie plays is just so amazing! his signature feel makes a world of difference.
this song is so beautiful, its there best far as mideviel music goes, but ritchies best is of course made in japan, live, august 1972, he can still wail away on electric strat,, o this is beautiful, you gotta love candace, such a laughin girl, an breathtakinly beautiful,, please come to atlanta, i been askin for so manyears, please come to atlanta, or conyers just east of atlanta,,
give's me chills up and down my spine, still make my eyes well up with tears of joy. Whatever genre he's playing at the moment he's always topnotch. The best all around guitarist on the planet. People argue about who's the best Rocker, Shredder, or Blues or Jazz or Flamenco player, but when it comes to versatility, Ritchie's got 'em all by the balls.
I think that was filmed at their actual house, because in the last scene she and he are walking by a bench, and I think I saw it a few years back on VH1's Where Are They Now?. Awesome.
Further yet for me being in the USA! But if I could travel to any of those places, I would make it a point to be in the area where they are performing!
Lovely, evocative song, great video. Blackmore's Night will still be in demand 100 years from now, and beyond, as founders of a new facet of rock-influenced music. Rock on, Ritchie and your company of latter-day bards!
Great song! Greetings from Serbia :)
