i love anna rice's universe of vampires, interview with the vampire is the best vamp film out there.. unfortunately the directors of the queen of the damned film really screwed over the novel.. it's a shame really.
This movie is great, it really doesn't necessary to link it to the books or other movies. I love to watch vampire movies where they have true feelings and do fall in love, that's why I prefer this movie, Bramstocker 's Dracula or even Twilight instead of other movies.

this movie sucked but i will admit to enjoying the soundtrack, when the soundtrack is the best part of a movie that is beyond sad, Stuart Townsend sucked in this role but i blame the crappy screenplay and terrible direction for that not townsend himself. I think the movie would of been a good, plain vampire movie, but since it has the name Queen of the Damned it is compared to the book, which is absolutely amazing. Song is nice, but movie is one big failure. Marius?! Is this some kind of hybrid of Magnus and Mariusz?! Lestat and Jessie as pair?! WTF?! Stuart didn't play Lestat as it should- here Tom Cruise and his Lestat are MUCH better. One good thing- Aaliyah and her version of Akasha.
I think Stuart did a good job with the role, but, being a major fan of the book series, a few things pissed me off. First off the blonde hair thing. Hate me for it, but it was part of Lestat's physical appearance and it's not that hard to dye your hair for a movie role. Second off, the script did need some work as said before, and third off the story itself was COMPLETELY butchered. The movie says that Marius made Lestat when really it was Magnus, a character not even introduced in the movie.
On top of all that, they completely left out the real background story about how he was the wolf killer, and they left out Nicholas as well. And as far as I know Gabrielle too.
Oh, and Forsaken was originally a song by Disturbed, Jonathon Davis sang it for this movie, if i'm not mistaken.
The reason why this song sounds like a Korn song is the following: Jonathan wrote the whole OST album, but Roadrunner Records didnt allow him to release it under his name, so he asked his friends, and they helped him out by recording the songs he wrote. He had some interviews about this, google it if you want.
Everyone is commenting about how its Korn doing the music, but how come nobody notices the obvious reference to the silent film, "The Cabinet of Dr Caligari"?

Oh, really? Why is that, exactly? Because he doesn't have blond hair? That excuse is old. Actually, I happen to think Stuart fits the book version of Lestat perfectly, both in terms of his body frame, AND most importantly, Lestat's mannerisms. Arrogance, Sensitivity. Sensual, Seductive. God-like, yet still a murderous fiend. I believe that if Stuart had been cast in IWTV, he would've done just as well, if not better than Tom Cruise. Watch him in Resurrection Man, (on youtube) you'll see why.
No actually, I think his appearance is fine. It's just the acting. Maybe it's just the bad writing, and so it's not really his fault, but I just think he's not Lestat at all. They've changed him far too much. It's the same with the other characters.
There you go, that's what I believe, that it's the writing, and that the script sucked MAJORLY. Stuart was quoted as saying that he himself wasn't impressed with the script at all either, but what sold him was the whole idea of playing the rockstar vampire. Besides, he did read the book in preparation for the role, so I'm sure he familiarized himself with the character. I put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the direction and production, for butchering the story completely.
Yep, they completely butchered the story. And the characters. I'm sure Stuart is a good actor, but I just cringe everytime I see him as Lestat, mainly because of the awful script. The Transylvanian sounding accent doesn't help either.
Which is exactly why I think he deserves another shot at the role to redeem himself (no pun intended, lol), and the character. But honestly, I really do think that the part of Lestat was made for him to play, because he just fits his physical description , aside from the whole blonde hair thing. I've seen a lot of his other movies, before and since QOTD, where I've said, "My God, that's just so Lestat" It really is a shame, because IWTV, was a MUCH better movie; how QOTD SHOULD'VE been made.

there were so many flaws to the movie though when comparing to the books..what really pisses me off is that wolf killer has always had blonde hair.. in the movie marius the ancient turns him into a vampire, in the book it was magnus the ancient..and after lestat drinks from magnus magnus jumps into flames destroying himself..

Very disappointing film.Supposed to be the sequel to interview with a vampire.Incorporating the 2nd and 3rd book in 1 film.Very poorly done! Read the books and you'll see.The 4th and 5th books are masterpieces,memnoch the devil being the best! Anne Rice lost the plot a little though with the 6th,couldn't get into Pandora.From what I can remember Lestat isn't even in it.

Now I can see why people find it disappointing. I'm disappointed myself... So I just finished reading the Queen of the Damned. I agree the books are amazing, although I did like the pandora book, this book is just the story of another vampire somewhat related to the main series.
Actually the soundtrack is other people singing Johnathon Davis's material. JD couldn't do the soundtrack due to a contract. He does however sing all the songs in the movie and the music videos

The reason why this song sounds like a Korn song is the following: Jonathan wrote the whole OST album, but Roadrunner Records didnt allow him to release it under his name, so he asked his friends, and they helped him out by recording the songs he wrote. He had some interviews about this, google it if you want.

Oh, really? Why is that, exactly? Because he doesn't have blond hair? That excuse is old. Actually, I happen to think Stuart fits the book version of Lestat perfectly, both in terms of his body frame, AND most importantly, Lestat's mannerisms. Arrogance, Sensitivity. Sensual, Seductive. God-like, yet still a murderous fiend. I believe that if Stuart had been cast in IWTV, he would've done just as well, if not better than Tom Cruise. Watch him in Resurrection Man, (on youtube) you'll see why.

No actually, I think his appearance is fine. It's just the acting. Maybe it's just the bad writing, and so it's not really his fault, but I just think he's not Lestat at all. They've changed him far too much. It's the same with the other characters.

There you go, that's what I believe, that it's the writing, and that the script sucked MAJORLY. Stuart was quoted as saying that he himself wasn't impressed with the script at all either, but what sold him was the whole idea of playing the rockstar vampire. Besides, he did read the book in preparation for the role, so I'm sure he familiarized himself with the character. I put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the direction and production, for butchering the story completely.

Yep, they completely butchered the story. And the characters. I'm sure Stuart is a good actor, but I just cringe everytime I see him as Lestat, mainly because of the awful script. The Transylvanian sounding accent doesn't help either.

Which is exactly why I think he deserves another shot at the role to redeem himself (no pun intended, lol), and the character. But honestly, I really do think that the part of Lestat was made for him to play, because he just fits his physical description , aside from the whole blonde hair thing. I've seen a lot of his other movies, before and since QOTD, where I've said, "My God, that's just so Lestat" It really is a shame, because IWTV, was a MUCH better movie; how QOTD SHOULD'VE been made.

Very disappointing film.Supposed to be the sequel to interview with a vampire.Incorporating the 2nd and 3rd book in 1 film.Very poorly done! Read the books and you'll see.The 4th and 5th books are masterpieces,memnoch the devil being the best! Anne Rice lost the plot a little though with the 6th,couldn't get into Pandora.From what I can remember Lestat isn't even in it.

Thanks, I was wondering about the 4th book and 5th book.. I saw the movie first, and thought it was great until I read The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned. Now I can see why people find it disappointing. I'm disappointed myself... So I just finished reading the Queen of the Damned. Can't wait to read the 4th! =) Also, I don't think Pandora is a very interesting character...

Actually the soundtrack is other people singing Johnathon Davis's material. JD couldn't do the soundtrack due to a contract. He does however sing all the songs in the movie and the music videos
