Have to agree with your video. I am playing Mass Effect 2 for the first time on PS3. I don't own an Xbox so I never played ME1. I'm finding it a little overwhelming learning all the different species and trying to navigate around this huge universe. So often I ask myself, 'wait, what nebula? inside which system? Planet what? What species was that guy?' My beef is progression. If the universe expanded incrementally I'd have my bearings, but it just explodes all at once. I'm a bit lost
@evnewell I know the feeling, I started on ME2. It took me awhile to understand what most things were. Although what I did pick up on was that Garrus was a badass and according to my friends thats all that matters.

Bioware have said ( people don't need to play ME to play ME2 ). ( Plus from figures only half of gamers carried over their ME stuff to ME2 ). So no you don't have too play ME at all to understand ME2. PS3 had a run down on the important story from ME in comic form.

Whatever but you're missing alot of main stuff like importing character, romance option, getting to know characters who will reaper in ME2, your choices and story. That is Mass effect.
@wanenagasiren there's a special feature in the PS3 version, an interactive comic strip that summarizes the story from ME1 and allows you the player to determine all the carry over choices in ME1 (who lives, the romance etc) the choices will affect ME2's story
the comic book is there to solve ur prob. they should have ported ME1 but don't think they had the time or inclination to do so cos they even got ME3 launching this year. really good vid

I bought a new graphics card for my pc about 6 Monts ago just to play mass effect 2 but I own a ps3 and recently bought a 360, at first I was pissed because mass effect was coming to the ps3, but I loved it so much that I'm buying it again. Just hope that ME3 will be multi platform
@MrTimbalis Because of importation. The decisions made in ME will not only effect what happens in ME2, but also in ME3. If you start from ME2 without playing ME then certain decisions are already made for you...
dont worry NeoGameSpark, your not the only one rebuying MassEffect2, Im a MassEffect fan as well and going to buy the PS3 version. The thing im really looking forward to the PS3 version is the in game comic that you could interact in so that way you have choices carried to MassEffect2 which i think is pretty neat.
old video and you probably know this by now, but they have a digital comic that is being released with ME2 that will be summarizing the story of ME1 and include the choices, so I'm happy bout that. Loved the 360, got the RROD over 4 times, lost my patience and bought a PS3 and loved it since. I played the first ME to death tho, i do kinda wish they released it PSN but im glad they are including the choices at least.
Story is not a problem for PS3 users. We just open youtube and watch the cutscenes of Mass Effect or open masseffect.wikia and were done right? No problem! Oh and we got Mass Effect 2 Genesis comic too! Who cares about Mass Effect 1 then?
I know you mentioned (in your video Caption) that you didn't remember about mass effect being owned by Microsoft, there is a way to play mass effect 1, and most of your decisions you made could go over the Ps3 version, just play mass effect on PC, £5.99 from amazon (if you don't want to spend £150+ on 360) and then just make the same decisions in the 15 minute Mass effect 1 comic on the ps3 version of Mass Effect 2, I mean even a half decent dual core, with a GFX card can run mass effect 1...

I played 1 and completed it 100% but my 360 broke so I got a PS3 instead and I'm getting ME2 for it and I'm fine with playing the digital comic book intro since I already played and know everything about ME1 and I'm sure that's how it is for a lot of people, many seem to forget a lot of people had 360 and played ME1 but ended up leaving 360 cause it broke, traded it in or PS3 got hotter or whatever, most people who want ME2 know the story of ME1 already

I played Mass Effect 1 and I have a PC and many people that own a PS3 probably have quite a strong PC.
Also, people can read off wikipedia the Mass Effect 1 story, or the Mass Effect Wikia. They also get the 15 min comic book which I'm pretty sure will explain quite a lot of the story, not the best but at least something.

This whole situation really doesn't bother as it isn't a very surprising move on EA's part. Exclusives are pretty rare these days and one day MS and Sony, probably even Nintendo will co-produce a console together, hopefully anyway. Then finally we wont have fanboys or fan girls, just go back to gamers.

of course it won't be dlc. some of you may not know but playstation 3 game run on bluray dics they fit a hell lot of info than xbox 360 and pc. its obvious that the content will be on the game theirs plenty of room on a blu ray disc think about princes of Persia trilogy, god of war collection, sly trilogy, MOD on ps3 Exclusive MOD front line if there out in stores with all that content no doubt 6+ hours will be on ps3.

On the exclusivity of mass effect- yes mass effect was on both PC and 360, but those are still both microsoft platforms, so mass effect was still a microsoft exclusive.

PS3 users will have extra missions on ME2 so they can have choices from ME1 since Bioware can't port ME1 on PS3 because Microsoft still owns it.
Also they'll have some DLC's that PC and Xbox users had to pay( but there is going to be Ultimate version of ME2 with all DLC's after last DLC is released).

@mcstarvealot, not really that much more, just added up all the content they have released so far -missions and weapon packs and it adds up to just under $32. and they have said that Besides the comic that the ps3 will be getting some exclusive stuff as well.
So $20 for the game, $32 for content, witch adds up to $52, I don't mind paying an extra $8 for the interactive comic to choose how the world begins in ME2 and some exclusive missions and weapons.
You those of you who don't know, ME2 on PS3 will come with a interactive Comic book that tells the ME1 story and you make the same choices and those choices will be integrated into you ME2 story

I strongly agree with you saying what the PLAYER did in Mass Effect 1, not what Shepard did. Basically, in my opinion, the player is the real main character and Commander Shepard is just a sock puppet.

This will extent to the point in which you actually get to make decisions throughout the comic. Don't know if it's true, but I saw this info on IGN. Hope this clears things out ;)

@Renegado140 as of right now final fantasy versus 13 is still a ps3 exclusive. noruma said final fantasy versus 13 is being developement specifically for ps3. now, noruma said that once versus is finished, it might get ported to xbox 360 depending on managament and cost. plus, final fantasy versus 13 is reaching its 5th year of developement, and an xbox 360 port would only delay the game.

I only have the PS3 and I have heard many good things about this game. If I had a lot of money I would get a 360, but I can't really justify having both systems because it's hard enough to keep up with everything that comes out on every system, it's too expensive and time consuming. I'm glad they are doing this and hope this trend continues.
i played ME2, finished it and loved it so much i had to get ME1...ME1 runs so horribly its no wonder bioware don't want to port it..its a great game and it has some awesome characters like saren and sovereign but ps3 owners aren't gonna miss out as much as this guy is saying..it can easily be explained and i'm sure bioware will do the right thing..i can honestly say that playing ME1 really didn't make me enjoy ME2 any more than i initially did..ps3 owners; get ME2..its ace

PS3 has all the unique great games coming and the most varied genres by far. old video and you probably know this by now, but they have a digital comic that is being released with ME2 that will be summarizing the story of ME1 and include the choices, so I'm happy bout that. Loved the 360, got the RROD over 4 times, lost my patience and bought a PS3 and loved it since. I played the first ME to death tho, i do kinda wish they released it PSN but im glad they are including the choices at least.

I know you mentioned (in your video Caption) that you didn't remember about mass effect being owned by Microsoft, there is a way to play mass effect 1, and most of your decisions you made could go over the Ps3 version, just play mass effect on PC, £5.99 from amazon (if you don't want to spend £150+ on 360) and then just make the same decisions in the 15 minute Mass effect 1 comic on the ps3 version of Mass Effect 2, I mean even a half decent dual core, with a GFX card can run mass effect 1...

I played Mass Effect 1 and I have a PC and many people that own a PS3 probably have quite a strong PC.
Also, people can read off wikipedia the Mass Effect 1 story, or the Mass Effect Wikia. They also get the 15 min comic book which I'm pretty sure will explain quite a lot of the story, not the best but at least something.

This whole situation really doesn't bother as it isn't a very surprising move on EA's part. Exclusives are pretty rare these days and one day MS and Sony, probably even Nintendo will co-produce a console together, hopefully anyway. of course it won't be dlc. some of you may not know but playstation 3 game run on bluray dics they fit a hell lot of info than xbox 360 and pc. its obvious that the content will be on the game theirs plenty of room on a blu ray disc think about princes of Persia trilogy, god of war collection, sly trilogy, MOD on ps3 Exclusive MOD front line if there out in stores with all that content no doubt 6+ hours will be on ps3.

PS3 users will have extra missions on ME2 so they can have choices from ME1 since Bioware can't port ME1 on PS3 because Microsoft still owns it.
Also they'll have some DLC's that PC and Xbox users had to pay( but there is going to be Ultimate version of ME2 with all DLC's after last DLC is released).

@mcstarvealot, not really that much more, just added up all the content they have released so far -missions and weapon packs and it adds up to just under $32. and they have said that Besides the comic that the ps3 will be getting some exclusive stuff as well.
So $20 for the game, $32 for content, witch adds up to $52, I don't mind paying an extra $8 for the interactive comic to choose how the world begins in ME2 and some exclusive missions and weapons.

This will extent to the point in which you actually get to make decisions throughout the comic. Don't know if it's true, but I saw this info on IGN. Hope this clears things out ;)

@Renegado140 as of right now final fantasy versus 13 is still a ps3 exclusive. noruma said final fantasy versus 13 is being developement specifically for ps3. now, noruma said that once versus is finished, it might get ported to xbox 360 depending on managament and cost. plus, final fantasy versus 13 is reaching its 5th year of developement, and an xbox 360 port would only delay the game.

@jtmoney091 thats not what i heard, go to game informer they will tell u that the fail of final fantasy online has caused them to make final fantasy versus ported to the xbox 360 because games on the xbox 360 sell more

they announced that there will be an interactive comic at the beginning of mass effect 2 on ps3 in which you will need to make decisions. Not exactly mass effect one but i think it sounds cool

I only have the PS3 and I have heard many good things about this game. If I had a lot of money I would get a 360, but I can't really justify having both systems because it's hard enough to keep up with everything that comes out on every system, it's too expensive and time consuming. I'm glad they are doing this and hope this trend continues.

i played ME2, finished it and loved it so much i had to get ME1...ME1 runs so horribly its no wonder bioware don't want to port it..its a great game and it has some awesome characters like saren and sovereign but ps3 owners aren't gonna miss out as much as this guy is saying..it can easily be explained and i'm sure bioware will do the right thing..i can honestly say that playing ME1 really didn't make me enjoy ME2 any more than i initially did..ps3 owners; get ME2..its ace
