call of duty is ok but the action takes place in very confined spaces the furthest away u can be when u use the javelin on cod 4 is like 100 metres, this will be like 1000 metre away battles

For those of you who were wondering, the island belonged to china, but in wwII japan stole it. Russia helped china out but never gave it back. Until they recently found the worlds largest untapped oil reserve. Now china wants it's island back. But Russia asks for help. And the U.S and other countries wanting a piece of the oil reserve decide to help Russia fight off the chinese.. And that's pretty much it.

But the USMC are stationed in Okinowa [spelling] and the Russians can't muster up a force or something like that (they are saying that because there are no confirmed russian forces in the game, but more then likely to be) nd they call USA for help. (thats what im getting) but chinese attack it because of oil? i dont know too much, its all been hush hush...but when it comes out it'll be in "black and white" (the story line)
well i know if there are any attacks on japanese soil that the USMC would respond because we have almost 60,000 US Marines stationed on and around Japan.
And dont forget the US Army and USAF in South Korea only a puddle jump away
And Australia only 1 or 2yrs ago became BIG allies with Japan, and we are already strong allies with the US so we're gonna be in it pretty big as well. It's gonna end alot like WW1 (everyone jumping in). But Australia and China are too big trading partners...

Just so you dont know even the US army had use the first OFP before for their tactical simulations.......now from the EGO technology of OFP2 theres a chance that it will be the game of the year again.
OFP2 may very well be GOTY, but I'm not sure I understand your comment about OFP and the Military related to this. Bohemia Interactive made OFP, and currently make VBS 1 & 2, also used by militaries around the world. My point is just be sure to give credit where it's due. if your going to dig deep and look around there was an article that US army has used OFP for their tactical simulation. coz OFP is an open world...no hard bushes that you cant pass thru....and no mountains that you cant climb...and no jump crouch while carrying a machine gun!!!

Bohemia Interactive Studios was the developer - THEY made OFP, and VBS, the ones that are used by the military. This OFP:DR is a new team, using the name they own, to make a game LIKE the origional OFP by B.I.S.

Gentlemen, your posting a comment on OFP2 so dont mention anything that it is like CoD titles coz if your talking about OFP in the game itself if you get hit and its serious but not deadly then youd probably crawl for the entire mission so your best bet is either your medic is still alive and just somehwere around to heal you or find a medic camp to be healed but when your all alone then better yet reload from your last save coz your useless. this is not hide+rest= healed!!!!

You really can't tell how will this turn out before seeing some gameplay videos, but I'm sceptical about this one. I'll stick with the original Flashpoint until I get a PC that can run ArmA 2. Or OFP 2, who knows.
Thats barely gameplay at all anyway. It was what the game looked like for mid 08 with the Ego Engine, this is February of 09. God knows what it looks like now, (I'd say fucking awesome) it probably has better movements and shooting. I could guarantee that they'll be ready to start production of the discs in the next one or two months. They keep it under the radar so they don't ruin the game, and that usually means it will be a pretty satisfying game.
Yes... it plays like CoD4 where I can take more than several direct shots... run up to a guy & knife him, go to another guy and do the same, and absorb some grenade damage in the process.

This shits all over arma, this is made by codemasters, it's published by codemasters, it's nowhere near arcade, the weapons - real, movement - real, read about it first!
Codemasters published OFP 1. Later, the developers of OFP 1 and Codemasters (the publisher) "broke up", but Codemasters kept the rights on the name "Operation Flashpoint".
The developers of OFP1 has already made a sequel, but could not use OFP since Codemasters owns the rights.
Codemasters are now trying to copy the original developers by making a shitty BF2 clone and calling it OFP2.
Dude, ArmA is one of the true OFP themed games, made solely by Bohemia interactive, which also DEVELOPED the original "OperationFlashpoint" (Codemasters just PUBLISHED it.) and military simulators VBS1 and 2.
OFP 2 (developed by Codemasters)seems to be a good game, but it needs to prove itself worthy of being as good as the "Originals" (i.e: OFP1, ArmA, ArmA 2)
ArmA was full of fail don't even try to express how horrible it was lol. Also I had a typos mate I didn't pay much mind to it at the time. Now just look at it, the game itself isn't realistic in any way. The vehicles never blow up which is hella annoying when a tank crew evacuates. All the tank does is turn black and start on fire. In the middle of one mission I shot a silencer about 600 yards to my target which actually took 2 shots. A second later I was being hit under a barrage of fire. FAIL
Doesn't matter what ammo your using, 7 people cant see you in a bush from 600 yards in less than 5 seconds. The squad leader didnt even pull out his binoculars they just all went prone and started firing in my direction instantly. Ended my little mission in a minute.

Operation flashpoint was fun because it was a good simulation from most of the videos I have seen. It looks very much like an arcade game know what I mean. Im not saying thats bad, just it'll be like most other games. Except big maps and awesome battles, codemasters always had a good touch on storylines also. So I can look forward to this with enthusiasm. Hopefully =)

Im not calling it an arcade game but OPFP newest trailer was extremely quick paced which is very common in arcade games. Instead of taking the slow approach that the military actually uses. Rushing into rooms splattering heads and running into fields shooting in ever direction is arcade. Not a simulation, but we have yet to wait before we can judge. My good feelings for the game lost its peak, we'll see the game soon though and find out. Am I right? =p

And it's fun how ArmA has tons and tons of in-game footage, while OFP are all pre-rendered, except for a few shots.
And they said they're gonna make it 100% equal on all platforms.
Even the PC will have a lousy radial radio message menu. No more real commanding like OFP.
You just point, and select "Attack", or "Move".
No more targeting, etc.

I think the ArmA 2 graphics are shit how about that? Since when is it about the graphics anyway? Both ArmA 2 and OFP2 are realistic to they're own extents. Besides, who the hell cares what ArmA fans think about this game when its so under the radar. Your full of assumptions. My cousin works at Code M, I know what they'll be providing.

I meant it looked like CoD gameplay wise. I don't give a damn about graphics. From the clips I've seen this doesn't feel worthy of it's name.
You really can't tell how will this turn out before seeing some gameplay videos, but I'm sceptical about this one. I'll stick with the original Flashpoint until I get a PC that can run ArmA 2. Or OFP 2, who knows.

Thats barely gameplay at all anyway. It was what the game looked like for mid 08 with the Ego Engine, this is February of 09. God knows what it looks like now, (I'd say fucking awesome) it probably has better movements and shooting. I could guarantee that they'll be ready to start production of the discs in the next one or two months. They keep it under the radar so they don't ruin the game, and that usually means it will be a pretty satisfying game.

The official release for this game is not supposed to all the way until December 31st, 2009 now.
So that kind of blows.
But I'm sure it will be worth the wait....

Yes... it plays like CoD4 where I can take more than several direct shots... run up to a guy & knife him, go to another guy and do the same, and absorb some grenade damage in the process.

My point is, that if people want a sequel to OFP 1, they're gonna be disappointed with this one.
This is a fast-paced arcade FPS, and doens't remotely reach the words "strategy" or "simulation"

This is not the real OFP 2.
Codemasters published OFP 1. Later, the developers of OFP 1 and Codemasters (the publisher) "broke up", but Codemasters kept the rights on the name "Operation Flashpoint".
The developers of OFP1 has already made a sequel, but could not use OFP since Codemasters owns the rights.
Codemasters are now trying to copy the original developers by making a shitty BF2 clone and calling it OFP2.
If you want the true OFP 2, search ArmA

Dude, ArmA is one of the true OFP themed games, made solely by Bohemia interactive, which also DEVELOPED the original "OperationFlashpoint" (Codemasters just PUBLISHED it.) and military simulators VBS1 and 2.
OFP 2 (developed by Codemasters)seems to be a good game, but it needs to prove itself worthy of being as good as the "Originals" (i.e: OFP1, ArmA, ArmA 2)

ArmA was full of fail don't even try to express how horrible it was lol. Also I had a typos mate I didn't pay much mind to it at the time. Now just look at it, the game itself isn't realistic in any way. The vehicles never blow up which is hella annoying when a tank crew evacuates. All the tank does is turn black and start on fire. In the middle of one mission I shot a silencer about 600 yards to my target which actually took 2 shots. A second later I was being hit under a barrage of fire. FAIL

Doesn't matter what ammo your using, 7 people cant see you in a bush from 600 yards in less than 5 seconds. The squad leader didnt even pull out his binoculars they just all went prone and started firing in my direction instantly. Ended my little mission in a minute.

Operation flashpoint was fun because it was a good simulation from most of the videos I have seen. It looks very much like an arcade game know what I mean. Im not saying thats bad, just it'll be like most other games. Except big maps and awesome battles, codemasters always had a good touch on storylines also. So I can look forward to this with enthusiasm. Hopefully =)

Im not calling it an arcade game but OPFP newest trailer was extremely quick paced which is very common in arcade games. Instead of taking the slow approach that the military actually uses. Rushing into rooms splattering heads and running into fields shooting in ever direction is arcade. Not a simulation, but we have yet to wait before we can judge. My good feelings for the game lost its peak, we'll see the game soon though and find out. Am I right? =p

We're getting closer to the release...
Just got "confirmation" on a pre-order i made almost a year ago... Asking me if i'm still interested. (which i kind of am...)
This is exactly what has happened 4-6 months before the release of all previous games that i have ordered from them.
(GTA4, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2...)
So i'm guessing they've recieved the question from codemasters how many games they want/need.

Hey everyone, I am a marine in 29 palms and the game developers were just out here collecting sounds of all the vehicles here for this game. we just finished today and they said the game will be out next spring. Look for Delta Company AAV's in the credits!
