Ok I understand now, you roll with the gummed edge first, backwards, so you can lick the outside and it sticks from the inside, awesome, im guessing the filter makes it less harsh, or makes it smoother.

@BIGFIRMERIC Correct on the rolling part. I guess you're from the US, coz we Europeans typically use these filters on our joints. No, it doesn't make it less harsh or smoother, it just makes the whole smoking process much more convenient. Ever smoked a blunt only to get that bitter taste on your lips or constantly trying to re-open the bottom part so it allows for more smoke to go through?? That's why this filter is used, it doesn't really filter anything coming through

Burning uneven at the start showed it wasnt consistantly tight. Also burning off the excess paper instead of tearing it leaves a slightly charred taste, not very nice. Also bad choice of papers personally i dont like to smoke bleach....
