I got a v3, dont know about the V4 but: you gotta buy Xtreme blades, the Xtreme or the Turbo shaft. Also get extra batteries. I have 4. If you dont get the blades and the shaft, you'll be limited. Also get the boom and the canopy so it looks better.
I was trimming the chopper out in the beginning. have you tried trimming it using the tabs on the transmitter? If that doesn't help (still spins even at full right trim), you need to adjust the proportional pot on the 4-in-1.
trim... that's all I can say... when you trim it best as you can.. control the helicopter flying backward from the direction it's heading... like if it leaning right, control it left till it got stable. and spin it a few time to get it stable
ur a damn fine pilot m8, kudos to ya. i decided to get a lama v4 after a bit of research on forums and watching youtube vids, yours was one of them. i'm still on the trainers and hope to be as good a pilot as u in the not too distant future. :)
The range isn't the issue as it will travel beyond your eyesight before the radio system fails. I think it's like a half mile or something. Look it up. I've had it at least 200 ft away before (100ft high, 100ft away).
I've used the radio with my piper cub, which has a receiver that can communicate with the Lama transmitter, and I've flown it at least a quarter mile away.
It's been almost a year since I've done it (the aluminum inner shaft is awesome). I think you have to remove the lower gear by unscrewing a hex screw if I remember correctly. You then pull the inner shaft out from the top. Then insert the new aluminum inner shaft, and screw the gear on tightly. If you don't tighten it enough, the gear could slip on the shaft, causing the chopper to spin uncontrollably.
I saw this video and IMMEDIATELY ordered this Heli! Your video is awesome- much props! My house is strewn with Helis and this is my favorite. Keep the videos coming! Great Job!!!
Wow, man...this is really awesome flying. My V3 is held together with hotmelt glue and Q-tips because I can't manage the damn thing. If I can get to this level, maybe my wife will let me upgrade to a T-Rex!! Great job.
Good luck convincing your wife to get a T-Rex. I know mine would have some serious issues with that. It was hard enough convincing her to let me get a Lama.
I also was wondering if you did any adjustments to the controller on the heli itself? Mine just won't take off and fly without wanting to head off in every friggin' direction first. Yours takes straight off without wandering.
I'll try that. The manual that comes with the V3 is not only marginally informative, poor translation grammar from Chinese to English, it's not even for the V3! No adjustment information. Thanks for the tip.
Best Esky Lama video I have seen by far, Awesome. Just wondering if your new inner shaft was the xtreme upgrade with the extra 5mm or is it just the standard sized aluminium upgrade? Cheers.
Dude! the last week i receive my new colco lama and...well..i just want to say....well..I HATE YOU!
i cant fly the damn! copter y crashem twice and i use the spare blades already...say the truth you use a simulator first, right? how you do it?, are you play with you helicopter all day?, do you have friends? be cause for me is not normal you are exelent!
Oh, ok, this is when you said you hated me. First of all, thanks? Secondly, I never used a simulator and I do have friends. When I first got it, I flew for a couple of battery charges worth every day. It took a couple of weeks to get to the skill level seen in the video. You will keep breaking parts until you get good. Then you'll break more when you start to get aggressive.
Dude! the best toy in 20 years, i buy a colco lama IV because you an i want buy e sky lama like yours congrats. your video is best than of promotional factories in hong kong!
Actually, I just took it outside yesterday and flew it above 120ft or so without problems. Winds were about 3mph, well below the Lama's top speed, so I could maneauver around with no problems. If the winds are higher than that, you're basically flying a wireless kite, meaning it will slowly drift away no matter how much you push it. I've tried flying in 5mph+ winds and I crashed a few times to prevent it from crashing into obstacles instead of soft grass.
Nice!

Btw, what does the aluminium inner shaft head improve??
Ridnurt 3 years ago
Durability; the stabilizer bar holder won't break anymore. There shouldn't be any change in flight behavior, or you've installed it incorrectly.
vega2614 3 years ago
Ive trimmed it and it works until i spin it, hten it starts to spin to the right again. Thx ill try to adjust the scruw on the chopper.
Ridnurt 3 years ago
Mine is spinning to the left all the time, not much but very slowly. I saw that ur did too at the beggining.

Lama V4 = almost Lama V3
Better canopy (maybe less yawing, depends on gyro settins), easy to install canopy, easy to install (and break) skids, better instaleable battery.
Flight specs should be the same. Little worse as chance on blade strikes is higher.

I directly decided to link to this video from my shop after seeing thís stable flight.
My compliments!

Aluminum inner shaft head (BPHobbies) and new battery (Hobby City). Purchased chopper from Bananahobbies. Pick up some extra blades too.

Did you adjust the transmitter trims? If that doesn't work, you'll have to adjust the servo pushrod lengths by screwing them in or out.
vega2614 4 years ago
