  • love these guys! now i know where devo came from! this is the only music act who might rival my affections for jerry garcia & ace frehley!

  • j'adore!

  • The Monks are very unique in the history of rock music!

  • Yay for YT for exactly this reason- groups like The Monks could not have gotten the kind of exposure they deserve. More people need to listen to them!

  • Came up in my Pandora station, "Egyptian Tomb" (a tune by Mighty Baby and the seed for the station). Fascinating story. Wild music!

  • GOOD!!!

  • electronic goodnees.

  • Punk before punk!

  • a lot of band srip thee guys off, there was even a band called the monks from the uk

    big rip but they sucked.

  • Czad, punk dziesięć lat wcześniej!

  • Wow. I heard of the Monks for the first time just today, and am totally impressed by their music. Progressive as hell, for their time.

  • Gary just has such a killer voice, and Larry the best sounding Philicorda on Earth.

  • needs some MOSHING

  • the boy on the right side at 2:09 really likes it

  • Anyone think that Dave Day looked like Matt Sharp?

  • Awesome!

  • yeah, it's definitely fantastic to have this obscure gem available. and live, at that, in their natural habitat!

love the yodel, the repetitive Bo Diddley-esque groove and snap. the keys, the freaky getup and the bopping German kids...

    Priceless

  • Great!

    5 star

  • THIS JUST IN!!!! The Monks documentary will be released on DVD on Feb. 27th, 2009 but is available at Play Loud! Productions online store NOW! The DVD will contain 80 minutes worth of bonus footage WHICH WILL INCLUDE all of the Beat Club performances IN THEIR ENTIRETY! It's gonna be MONK TIME all over again in '09 folks!

  • i love the monks ..

one of the most underrated band

  • seeds

  • r.i.p. dave day :(

  • This video alone justifies the existence of YouTube. True greatness is never appreciated in its own time; it's good to see The Monks have not gone forgotten.

  • Man! I goofed; was watching the video and wanted to give you thumbs up but pressed thumbs down.....sorry!!!!

    'cause I couldn't agree more!!

  • Just when you think you've seen it all... Too cool! Thanks for this awsome vid.

  • This is brilliant, I never expected to watch footage with the Monks! Way ahead of their time (Cobra Killer sampled "Oh, how to do now" in its entirety - today's bands are mostly thieves...)

  • Check out the brand new trailer to the up-coming German theatrical release to the documentary film "monks-the transatlantic feedback" (Kinostart 4.10.2007). All the wonderful Beat-Club footage is in the final film in pristine quality.

  • Love the monks!@!

  • oh ya

  • The most essential thing on Youtube. It's Monktime!

  • THANK YOU, VERY VERY MUCH
