prevention is the secret. I use long sleeve cotton work cloths. I use disposable surgical gloves.

alternatively, you can apply liberal amounts of petroleum gelly on your wrist/arms. so that the "fiberglass" won't penetrate your skin.

after the work, apply warm water and liberal amounts of soapy water to remove the pertoleum gel with the fiberglass materials.

---> mr owvenus, for a full detail of info, you have to attend to their seminar. their manual and lecture actually specify the proper amount to use. the video was obviously made as an instructional guide.

2. And hardener ratio was not explained (very important for GEL time)

it all depends on the type of spray gun... Yes malapot yun.

Kaya merun talagang pang GELCOAT na spray gun... pero it is about US$200 yata and only available abroad (US somewhere in Florida yung maker).

I'm going to try using the "sand blasting" spray gun... lalagyan ko lang ng different tip (flat opening)... I THINK it might work. Will post it pag-umubra.

I have to check if their DVD have that info. Generally it follows the same concept. Mix the RTV with the catalyst. A smaller amount of catalyst will give longer curing period (as long as overnight). Excess amount of catalyst will give you very small lead time and the RTV will harden/cure fast.

Temperature and proper mixing affects the curing of the RTV. Trial and error is still the best teacher here.

Meanwhile if you can import (no local sellers in Philippines) the Dow-Corning brand of RTV, this is much easier to work with and success rate is nearly 90% even on first timers.

Duda ko mabigat ang kayak kung gagawin mong plywood. Usually, pede mong gawin mock-up na "original" yung plywood. Dapat siguro 2 piece eto - 1 top and 1 bottom portion.

From this plywood dun ka gagawa ng molde. Which is usually thicker - mga 4-8 layers of fibermat.

Sa finish product about 2-4 layers should be enough.

Your project is a "professional" thing...I suggest you attend the actual lecture of the PPI on fiberglass and resin for better guidance.

Pede Plywood... pero if you just cover it with fiberglass, parang bibigat masyado. If you go to this route, maybe dapat manipis ang plywood.

even the regular fiberglass mat na 300g/sqm should suffice...2-4 layers nito.

In reality, your project is a "professional" one. I suggest that you attend the lecture of PPI.

Calculate the surface area (in square meters) and multiply it with P3000. Additional cost would be the "foam" inside it (which I don't know the cost), unless you want it an empty hollow matterial.

And paint cost.

BTW you might want to consider putting "air chambers" inside the hollow part para in case of an accident you wouldn't sink immediately. HTH

pre, i dunno if you're familiar with the t-rex, ask ko lang if how much kaya magagastos kung gagawa ako ng fiberglass body nun?

Marterial cost will be something like P2000-3000 per square meter area (3-5 layers of fiberglass with gelcoat surface). So depende how big your T-rex is (you need to estimate the surface area nito) and if you already have a mold.

If you don't have a mold yet that would easily multiply the cost to say 2x... so ROUGHLY P4000-6000 without labor cost.

that partition agent - PARTALLY 10, is not locally available sa Pinas. But if you wax your original with carnuba wax (same used in floorwax and in car waxes) you would still get a good "release".
