Yes I'm 100% saying they are better wrestlers now than they were then.. not necessarily because of talent but because the 'game' has moved on which people like Sherri martel paved.. go watch any AWA or WWF womens match from the 80's and it SUCKS big time... the Divas now can do some fantastic stuff now.
Personally I think Trish, Mickie, Lita, Victoria are far superior to there counterparts of the past. The problem is there are WAY to many Diva's around now.

When you say the "Divas of today" then you're including no talents like Maryse,Melina,Jillian Hall etc. and that is blasphemy! Those who are pioneers don't have to say it. Depends on what you mean by "females". Women who were primary wrestlers or women who could do it all. Silent valets are dispensable. I really look up to the women who were TOUGH in the ring as WRESTLERS like Sherri (who was an awesome manager as well) instead of just plain ol' silent valets or sucky ass "divas" (not counting the ones that actually know how to wrestle) hand picked out of a fucking magazine. No Shit! most of the WWE divas can't wrestle at all! You ever notice how quiet the crowd is during a divas match? They suck the energy right out with their lack of talent. Yes I'm 100% saying they are better wrestlers now than they were then.. not necessarily because of talent but because the 'game' has moved on which people like Sherri martel paved.. go watch any AWA or WWF womens match from the 80's and it SUCKS big time... the Divas now can do some fantastic stuff now.
Personally I think Trish, Mickie, Lita, Victoria are far superior to there counterparts of the past. The problem is there are WAY to many Diva's around now.

Okay as far as Mickie,Lita,Tara(Victoria),Gail, but not Trish, you can make a case for them being better than their predecessors. BUT that's just four! When you say the "Divas of today" then you're including no talents like Maryse,Melina,Jillian Hall etc. and that is blasphemy! How dare you say AWA & WWF Women's matches sucked compared to today unless you are comparing them just to those few in WWE who can actually WRESTLE. I recommend "Chick Fight" or TNA's Knock outs then you'd have a point!

Also remember Baby Doll was originally "Andrea The Lady Giant" when she debuted. She was the Beth Phoenix/Chyna of her era and could probably get over today with that. You can count on one hand the WWE divas that actually can wrestle and put on a fantastic match. the rest don't hold a candle to the greats of the past !

@yardlet6 - you're absolutely right, Natalya Neidhart is one of the few WWE divas who can actually wrestle; i was mostly reffering to the WWE divas contest winners who are just looking for a way in the industry without paying any dues and dont really work hard to earn that title, you can tell by watching them wrestle who's put in the effort and who has'nt.

Those who are pioneers don't have to say it. I agree with the fact that she, Missy, Elisabeth, Sunny, and of course Sheri Martel all paved the way for todays females, but to say "I know the difference between a hip toss and an arm drag and you don't" is a very self serving statement. I am pretty sure Gail Kim could tell the difference, as could Kelly Kelly. Oh an yeah, Nickla, they actually get in the ring 6 nights a week. Not just standing around on the apron putting ppls feet on the ropes.

Depends on what you mean by "females". Women who were primary wrestlers or women who could do it all. Silent valets are dispensable. I really look up to the women who were TOUGH in the ring as WRESTLERS like Sherri (who was an awesome manager as well) instead of just plain ol' silent valets or sucky ass "divas" (not counting the ones that actually know how to wrestle) hand picked out of a fucking magazine. Kelly Kelly sucks and just like all other hand picked divas never paid dues.
