  • Just ordered mine 5 minutes ago. Got the all black one with the black clip. First knife Ive ever bought :)

  • Is it possible to sand off the diamonds on the grip to make it smooth?

  • Anyone else have a problem with deploying the blade? It only seems to be smooth after I use dry lube on it. Eventually it gets rough again? defect in the knife? It also has a little squeak when opening it. my only 2 gripes about the knife.

  • I first got turned onto the tenacious by this vid and since then I've only heard good things about the tenacious. It took me a couple years before I actually bought one, but this knife is awesome! The review says it all, but just adding my 2 cents, for the money you cant go wrong with the tenacious. It feels like it should cost twice what I paid. I'd recommend it to anyone. Thanks for the vid Nutn, as always you do awesome work in TNP

  • And I got this for around 10 bones less!! I can not wait to get it and test it out!

  • Ha I bought this 2 days ago. Because everything I have heard/read about this knife is amazing. And this review confirmed it. Thanks Nutn

  • sould i get this or the skyline pls reply would apresiate it alot srry for grammar

  • Awesome knife!! picked up the black blade for $34... Love it! feels made for my hand...opens in a snap! NEW EDC!!! I will buy another in the future...I would like a Manix2 also, but at 2 to 1, I can pay to have a second sharpened tenacious in the drawer, and the action is not sticky at all! Thanks Nutnfancy, I SEE why you rave on the Tenacious, I love mine too!

  • guess i miss the 25$ deal on amazon =/ got it for 30$

  • Where would you rate this compared to the Delica 4? I am looking at both. The difference is about $27. Go for the Delica or get the Tenacious and put the extra cash towards other gear?

  • Hey nutn, if you didn't already know, Spyderco now has a blackened tenacious in their lineup. I believe you'd agree with me resists rust a little bit better and decreases the high-profile look (especially on the pocket clip) which would be good for situations where it's needed; such as being clipped on the pocket of a soldier. It'd be cool if you bought one and made a quick kinda show-off video for it since you already have a full-blown tenacious review. Although I wouldn't mind another one ;)

  • and then u cut yourself. bbtw i bought this knife

  • @rangodash 100 percent agree with you the blade is the whole reason you buy the knife

  • For a few more bucks you could get a spydy with such better steel, in my opinion blade steel is more important than handle material

  • I've gotten in to a bad habit of buying a whole bunch of blades.....

  • @xXToxicCinemaXx me too

  • You're right about the appearance of the blade and thumbhole turning some guys off to Spyderco, the biggest reason I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet is the appearance. I watched some of your reviews of them now to try to be as unbiased as I can and I must say, I'm coming over to the dark side and liking their appearance now, I may have to pick one up. Thanks for changing my mind!

  • @ianarno i was the same as you when i first saw spyderco's. i started watchin more reviews on em and finally bought one. now im screwed im so addicted to spyderco lol. so once u buy one get ready to open ur wallet up for more haha. their great knives tho

  • should I get this or the UK penknife?

  • @TheKnifeCollecter depends on what you using it for. i say tenacious for most any tasks

  • Is this a gravity knife?

  • One downside on tenacious is the closed locking nub, it does start to drag after repeated openings and closings, they should make the nub a little larger to reduce the pressure causing the drag. Love this knife for EDC but does not gut fish well, akward in the hand in the reverse orientation.

  • Tenacious just came out if full black, gonna buy 2.

  • I am sold

  • I've had a problem with the torx screws on it. They rounded off so now I cant turn them

  • should i get this blade or the RAT 1? which is more durable?

  • What bit sizes does it use?

  • do the g10 handles tear into the lining of your pockets?

  • I hav a tenacious and its one of mi fav knives and i hav a lot of knives

  • @HonestKnifeReviews honestly, I dont eveb know what a triad lock is. I am quite partial to lock backs so i think im going to try the ka-bar zombie killer tanto. I know its bright green but if its in my pocket what does it matter?

  • I'm sorry, no offense to anyone one else, but im trying really hard to get away from liner locks. ive seen to many failures resulting in user injury.

  • @Vyppaaa11 get a cold steel recon 1, it has a very strong triad lock

  • i like my spyderco tenacious also very much but when I Open or Close the Knife it squiks, I oiled it Many Times but it squiks again. I also take it apart and cleand it but it squiks again! Can somabody help me

  • I like my Spyderco Tenacious also very much but Ehen I

  • I ordered a Tenacious and a Manix 2. I'm waiting on them now. They will be my first spydercos. I'm a novice to knives, but I'm looking foward to learning more about quality blades like Spyderco. Can't wait till they get her! Thanx for you're in depth reviews.

  • its a great knife

  • 8/10 that's a tough score in my opinion!

  • great knife.

  • The Tenacious is coming out in a Black Blade Version btw in 2012.

  • Sliced the tip off my thumb recently with this knife straight out of the box. It's sharp.

Too bad the the blade retention SUCKS!

  • if your regular job fall through you should be a salesman for tact gear... you sold me a tenacious

  • I bought this knife and at first was not impressed. It has a lot of cool features that I like, but I thought the knife was bulky compared to my beloved Delica 4. But after carrying it for 5 weeks now, I can't live without it and it has replaced my Delica. Thanks for a good reliable review Nutn

  • new tenacious coming in 2012 with black blade

  • When I received my first tenacious I opened it, and 5 minutes later ordered a second. I figured 1 for the left and 1 for the right. The knife also came pocket clip knife point down and I wanted to reverse it. Long story short the hex of the top screw on the pocket clip of both knives stripped out. Im lucky to work in one of the largest machine shops in the world so it was an easy fix with a grinder, drill, and some better machine screws. Still frustrating.

  • @mrmikesims how did u fix it

  • @MegaBillmann Hey Mega. I had to grind the head off of the top screw then drill out the remainder of it. I didnt have drill it but I thought Id clear the thread in case I ever wanted to put the clip back. I used a pencil grinder with a carbide bit to avoid grinding anything else on the knife. Then I got some screws of the same size, cut them to length, and screwed the clip back on. Probably other more home remody ways to do it but hey if you got the tools, use 'em.

  • just got this blade and now i just cut myself after flipping and closing sh#!%

  • Just got it today wow this is an amazing knife

  • Where do you buy your knives?

  • Hey i just got the tenacious and i was wondering what other spyderco knives that are good to add to the collection that dont break the bank or if there are other brands

  • Got it for $25 on amazon. Lightning deals ftw!

  • @larrydav1d me too :-)

  • @larrydav1d Same here! I can't wait till it gets here.

  • @larrydav1d is it real or fake never ordered off amazon and i do not want a fake one

  • @larrydav1d me too man AWESOME KNIFE

  • Just bought this on amazon.com lightning deals for a mere $25 free shipping. Thanks for the review Nutn.

  • Love this knife. I've had it for a few months. Definitely a great EDC.

This knife scares me though because of the blade retention. It sucks pretty bad. And gets worse as you get a bigger blade (resilience). I've almost slit my hand reaching into my pocket. Thus I don't carry it much.

The 8cr13mov is also very susceptible to micro-chipping.

    Great value knife though!

  • All I can say is I WANT IT lol!

  • I just got this knife and love it too. I really like the blade down pocket clip for faster and ready position deployment.

  • Great review. I just ordered one!

  • I bought a Tenacious because of this video

Its an awesome knife and I would recommend it

  • what folder knife would you recommend for outdoor use want something to fit in my pocket put has a nice blade i will like it serrated (think i missed spelled)i got smaller hands i will lime to be spyderco-cole

  • The Spyderco Tenacious or the Spyderco Cara Cara2? I mainly use knives for E.D.C. and everyday tasks.

  • I'm stuck between the Ontario rat1 and the tenacious, which would you recommend?

  • @MarcoMontana22 I asked around and the consensus was to go with the Tenacious. I bought one and I love it. Highly recommended.

  • @MarcoMontana22 BTW I know you weren't asking "me" but I hope you don't mind me chiming in.

  • @pandurate No man its cool, I got the Tenacious friday evening and I beat the shit out of it all over the yard, house, etc. I'm a mechanic and need a decent blade for edc. I was using a Condore Bushlore mini just for EDC now the Tenacious is on my belt.

I think the steel is pretty good I have a habit of testing blade steels thru various methods one of which is to tap the edge on the top of my beer can. It dented the can and left almost nothing on the blade. Im loving it! I may do some videos to

  • @MarcoMontana22 I find some popular steels IE: Sandvick , 1095 Carbon tapping on the soft aluminum can rim will actually dent the blade. This to me is pretty lame... Although I love my Moras and carry 2 in my pack Companion Stainless,Companion Carbon. I know if I drop them on a rock they will need re sharpening and bur reprofiling.

I needed a quality well made blade that could withstand MAN usage, stripping wires, cutting boxes, prying apart plastic relays, removing sheathing from 2 awg cables

  • Nutn, not to sound cheesy but you make YouTube a better place, Everything you do is appreciated. God bless the USA

  • hey nutnfancy, does the g10 scales on this knife grind your pockets away? or is the g10 scales on this knife not that aggressive

  • recorded with a remote control.

  • @AnonDW40 actually the quality is pretty good

  • @bas949 240p are you stupid lol?

  • @AnonDW40 it's 240p but the quality isn't that bad, it's from 2008 and no I'm not stupid

  • Where did you get that knife? especially for $28! Everywhere I look I find it $32.

  • @GraysonKeever Video was posted 3 years ago, but still worth the extra $4... Inflation!

  • @GraysonKeever cutleryshoppe has it for $29. That's what I paid for mine when I bought it there. They're great to deal with too, see my Tenacious review for more on them. Hope that helps!

  • just ordered mine today nutn i am a big benchmade fan especially there mini griptillian knives but after seeing this review and seeing the price i fell in love with it so i had to order one ,im still a benchmade fan but gonna have to start adding some spydercos to my collection now as well thanks for another awesome video.

  • Just got this today, very happy with it ne suggestions on a good oil to use and a sharpener?

  • @dexyland i have used rem oil for years on my guns and knives its a awesome oil i suggest that

  • i got a tenacious a few weeks ago and it has been lightly used and there is some left to right play on the blade i tried tightening the pivot screw but it doesn't help. any help? thanks nutnfancy i love your videos!!!!

  • @gilliesniper99 you might want to send it back to spyderco, since you didn't thrash it they might fix it for you.

  • my first spyderco. bought it at a convention for 40$

they sell for 56 on the spyderco website. not too much, not too cheap. : /

    definitely worth the money

    no blade play

    super sharp

heavy (quality heavy, not bad heavy)

    locks tight

"clicks" closed DEFINITELY wont open in ur pocket

might need oil now and then. rust dots may appear, but 3 in 1 oil eats em off

  • @143yamaha you can buy it for $30

  • TENACIOUS=AWSOME!! THANKS FOR THE RECOMENDATION!!

  • Just picked one up after Nuts' recommendation. I am very pleased this knife. 30 bucks on Ebay.

  • @cyanidechrist same

  • USA

  • i hate watching these videos because the prices are way off, but the information nutn provides is priceless and very useful.

  • got my tenacious today. Awesome!!!

  • Which would recommend the tenacious or the Ontario RAT 1

  • I know u have a pension for well made kit so it might behoove u to take a look at the Onterio RAT model one folder. Great knife IMHO and another great deal at about the same price as the tenacious (which BTW, I was on the fence about buying, but am glad to say i have just puchased due to your review on it.). Thanks for all your infomative reviews. Veri just cuz your not in the spot light doesn't mean your work isn't appreciated so thank you as well.

  • @cruz219 Cruz, thank you so much! -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy Hey nutn, i've watched your kershaw tremor and this video, which do you prefer?

  • you said its 28 $ its really 55 $!!!!

  • @2cola4u you obviously didn't look hard enough it took me all of 30 seconds to find it on amazon for 31.95 with free s&h.

  • @cruz219 yes but last time i was on amazon trying to buysomething the tried to steal my monet

  • @2cola4u Ebay 27.99 free s&h, search engines are your friends!

  • Awesome video man, it really convinced me to finally get the Tenacious. Just got mine today although it was quite hard finding one here in Sweden. This will be my first knive from Spyderco, let's see how it holds up.

  • original nuttn vidXD

  • @survivalairgunner ha exactly what I thought.. the 240p and exactly 10 minute length were the first clues..

  • only problem i had with this knife is the clip came lose and lost a nut only with 4-5 days of carrying. and the blade rusts alittle but, every metal does if you dont take care of it.

  • are the bear ops knives any good because you dont hear anything about them they seem good on paper prety cheap made in the usa. but all hear about is kersha and bench made.

  • i just ordered mine. either that or a kershaw mini cyclone, or rat 1 i dig the drop point for defense. i had a S&W ck70 cheapy that i had to use as a weapon. tenacious seems to be a good replacement

  • what do you think of the 580 barrage by bench made? just got it and it rocks!!!! review?

  • I had this knife for 6 days and it started to rust around the hole. I contacted spyderco and they basically said that it was normal. I sent it back and brought my Buck Vantage out of retirement. I am a Canadian but I prefer my Americian made Buck that still slices like a light saber than a hyped up cheap knife. This was my first spydie and I have to say I am not impressed.

  • @jtbca that's extremely rare. how much rust was there? if it was just small spots that could be residue left over from the machines used to make the blade. the residue can rust easily and comes off with some use or polishing. Also if you put it in saltwater or live in an extremely humid area it could rust. My delica 4 is nothing short of perfect after 2 months of good use

  • love this knife

  • Support US products people.

  • @eers2ya give me the extra 20-30 bucks it takes to buy a 100% USA made knife and I will. I fully understand and respect where you're coming from about supporting US companies, but I'm just too broke to do it right now. Also, I have a Tenacious and I love it, it's been great for me. Just because it's made overseas doesn't inherently mean it's bad either, as evidenced by the quality of the Tenacious and other knives like it.

  • has the tenacious ever come unlocked in your experience? the cutout for the liner looks a little generous?

  • @thors200 check he other video tenacious cut

  • Does it have ANY play? at all?

  • @tigreslokos none, solid lock up

  • @Evolancer276 good to hear (= and thanks for the response bro.. I'm getting this one and the Bug.. just for the sake of it lol

  • @Evolancer276 np man, and if you like the tenacious, get the persistence. same knife but a little smaller

  • Hmmm... Should I get the serrated or the plain edge?

  • Well I just added a new Tenacious to my collection and love this knife already !

Thanks for these gear reviews Nutn, as this helped narrow down my choice long before I even made it to the store.

Keep up the great work...most appreciated !

  • Hey nutnfancy I can get Tenacious for 50$ or Delica Flat Grind for 100$ in my country. Would do You think will be better to spend this much money on?

  • Nutnfancy i need you opinion, I'm looking for a knife of this size. Its available in our country and i like the design a lot. But the problem is it sells for 69 USD here. Benchmade is also widely available here, and i'm looking at the 551 griptilian or the 850 which has roughly the same spec but with a better steel. And it cost 103 USD which is a fair price compared to US prices unlike the tenacious Which would you choose if your in my dilemma. Thanks - kelvin

  • This knife is awesome, I just picked it up, sadly for 75$ (curse you Euro taxes) but it's great.

  • Hey nutn I went on a big of a knife binge this week and bought three blades for my birthday, I bought a buck vantage pro a skyline and a cara cara, Im trying to buy my last one to round out my collection. Do you think the Tenacious or the Ontario Rat 1 is a better knife being that they are approximately the same price?

  • I just got this (and it's my first Spyderco knife) from Cutlery Shoppe. May I say WOW. What a cool knife. You can't beat the price for what you get. Thanks Nutn!

  • hey, anyone know how long the blade it? im looking for a good knife with a 3in blade. i have a Spyderco PM2 but i want a smaller blade.

  • Dude how can some people bitch about Nutn being a hypocrite when he is posting a bunch if helpful reviews. And they go on about how he lies about his gear he reviews. Why the hell will a person in his lower 40's lie about stuff like that. I can't believe some of the bullshit that I see on YouTube. Seriously guys. Really?

  • i have been looking everywhere and cant find anything about sharpening a full flat grind can anyone help? is it like a scandi but just the whole blade?

  • @13irishsailors No, full flat grind is only the sides of the blade, you sharpen only the final edge, not the flats of the blade.

  • @Kylef7735 ok i just got the knife today and i see that now thanks!

  • @13irishsailors Youre most welcome, Great knife!

  • i just bought a tenacious cause i was looking for a good folder with edc and defense options so thank you nutn for making the choice way to easy lol

  • Haha yea same here.

  • Thank you very much valueknifelover.

  • @MrNutnAddict no problem. :) btw I'm loving the name haha it totally describes me as well... so much time spent on this computer watching Fancy and so much money spent on knives and gear b/c of this guy haha but I have never been disappointed.

  • Which lock would be stronger over everyday use? The liner lock on the tenacious or the lockback on the endura 4. I am trying to decide between the two. Please answer Nutn.

  • @MrNutnAddict Stronger: Endura's lockback. But for everyday use both locks will do great. I think the endura makes for a little bit of a nicer knife. It has a nicer feel in hand and the materials are significantly better. But if it's something that might get beat up a little I would stick with the Tenacious... it's a tough little guy that you won't feel too bad about getting a little beat up b/c of the price.

  • I was looking at cold steel tantos but after this review I realized I will get more use out of a good folder. This knife is less than $33.00 on amazon with free shipping. Can't go wrong.

  • i just got the tenacious in the mail today and so far i love it its a great knife for the money

  • Hey Nutn: just want to say I bought a tenacious last week and I love it! It's a great knife, especially for the money (I got mine for $29 from Cutlery shoppe!). Mine also cut me last night on my left middle finger. Had the blade in my left hand, reached across with that finger to hit the liner lock and then pushed on the back of the blade to close it without moving my finger and closed it right on my middle finger. Definitely proved the sharpness to me. Thanks again for the recommendation!

  • So... I am relatively broke so i can't buy many knives... Grabbed the spyderco Tenacious for edc/tactical combo knife... I carry every day and use during my work for many cutting tasks. Its been about 3 months now with almost everyday use of the blade. I started to notice some signs of rusting and lubed the blade with some special tool lubricant i have and it disappeared immediately. Blade is wearing fine, no complaints and still has a razor sharp edge!!! thx nutn for the recommendation.

  • I have that Spyder

    I like it

    thank you for the review

and thank you for the project

  • I am getting a knife and I cant decide between the tenacious and the skyline. Which one is more recommended. Please somebody reply!

  • sweet vid nice review! check out my channel i review a schrade knife! its pretty cool

  • My jaw dropped when I realized how affordable this blade and it's siblings are. The value is amazing and I'm in love with the cleaver-esque FFG blade. I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of my Tenacious and Persistence from the cutlery shoppe. Thanks for working out the shipping discount, Nutn!

  • Greal Blade!! Got mine in the mail today thanks to Cuttlery Shoppe and your NUTNFANCY promo code... Keep up the blade vids they help us out a lot. Thanks man

  • i work on a construction site. so this knife would be used allot. how do you think it will hold up.

  • @MrBuddyisreal The tenacious is a rugged knife from the tests, via contracting in which it has done well on my jobs

  • @sandythebear thanks

  • I have to say, First impressions, I don`t go much on Spyderco`s design of drilling a hole straight through the blade, It`s a clever idea, Simple and cheap to do, Saves weight and is obviously no problem for left handed use, But somehow, It`s not for me, Also, I don`t think you can say that because it`s made in China, That`s nothing to worry about, Have you seen their attempts at producing a motorcycle?

  • @xmoroseguyx made in china doesnt mean designed by china

  • @ericsyutubeaccount That`s a fair point, Lots of companies round the world, Do shift production to the far East too save on labour cost etc.. But it has to be done right, Even so, There`s a rumour that quality control is not the same in all countries even with same same company and model, For example, There`s reviews that say Honda motorcycles are not as good from the Italian and Brazil factories as those in Japan, Still, I suppose a product like a knife should be no problem for them

  • Since Spyderco has fixed there retention for the knife would it still be an 8/10?

  • Awesome knife. And love all reviews.

  • what size torx do u need to remove the pocket clip

  • Just FYI nutn, I and a lot of other people care whether or not a blade is made in China. I totally agree with what your saying about quality control, etc. My issue isn't with quality, though. I simply like to know that the blade I'm carrying is U.S.-made. It's not going to keep me from buying a Spyderco or other foreign-made knife, but from a sort of quasi-ethical standpoint, I prefer blades(and pretty much everything else) made in the U.S. Just thought I'd throw that out there. And thanks for

  • I have it. I love it!

  • I bought this knife on Amazon. Those retards charged me for one and shipped me two! Their loss, my gain! So far, I love it. Took me a while to get used to the goofy thumb hole (I prefer studs, discs, buttons and flippers). The jimping is amazing. I may however be sizing down to the Ambitious for edc use. Other than that, no complaints.

  • @Kinjaffa Yea i got 2 KA-BAR full sized plain eged blades, for the price of one. :)

  • I just bought this nice knife. It is just extraordinary good value got it for 40€.

The only littel drawback for me is the silver clip, would like it in black.

    Great Buy, Get it!

  • just got this knife. Really like it. But its a bit stiff, and it seems the pivot screw has loctite

    i cant adjust it all!

i want to use my thumn to flip..but its a bit stiff

  • @bottle2lip Just lubricate it a bit!? Get a bit in the holes of the clip.

  • @LiquidRidge

i have lubed it with eezox. Still pretty hard to flip, i can do it sometimes. One thing i notice is, the screw for adjusting tension is cant be turned. It must have loctite

  • I love that knife :) mine is wave customed but the only thing im curious about is when i deploy it fast or the flick open i get nail scratches is that normal or im doing it wrong?

  • grreat review of the Tenacious! just picked one up from Amazon, LOVE IT! I agree with all your points, especially the price point, you cant beat it, i picked mine up for $32! again great review

  • Correction: the pocket clip is fixed unless you have a 1.6mm allen wrench. If you know where to find one, I would be glad to know!!!
