The problem is...A Hebrew was originally a race of people. Hebrews developed into Israel. Israel split into two kingdoms "Israel" and "Judah". Israel became lost and is still nowhere to be found. Judah survived and the word Jew is the only direct english word for the hebrew word Yehud. Yehud is what people from Judah were called by the Babylonians.
