  • Why is his face all weird behind that veil? I never got that.

  • This movie is SO great, stylish and epic!

  • 5 people slipped on the ice.

  • I want that laugh as a ringtone!!!!! :D

  • Can anybody tell me what dishes they ordered at the Chinese restaurant? I can only make out the first one (fry shrimp?) and third one (seafood soup?). How come he didn't order the PEKING DUCK!?

  • Ah the nostalgia when I see this after 16 years.

  • The taxi driver also played Frankenstein from Mel Brooks "Young Frankenstein."

  • @doctorfeelucky I love that movie! XD

  • 4 people will confess, or he'll be there

  • At 0:19 that's one hell of a way to let someone know you found a way out lmao.

  • Baldwin use the force....

  • what's Raymond?

  • @TheMrAlexrj "Everybody Loves Raymond" it was a sitcom. the guy who plays the Shadows driver played the main characters dad:)

  • Aint he also the guy from Raymond?

  • @2:54 the cab driver (Peter boyle) was one of Robert de Niro collegue in "Taxi Driver" (1976) Martin scorcesse. Wel just an idea how they choose their casts.

  • the shadow.... in my point of view, the Anti-Hero number one.... compared to him, batman is a school-boy^^ (nothing against batman, though ;)

  • i want to bring him back in a more modern way.....

  • Love those thousand round Thompsons.

  • It's nice to see them humanizing the Shadow like that, showing that even the most selfless of heroes will still use their incredible mental powers to get laid.

    I know I would.

  • Did anyone else think that Alec Baldwin looked like his brother Billy Baldwin when the CGI masking effects were imposed on his face?

  • @Numinous20111

    No CGI, all makeup!

  • I wanted to wear his costume for Halloween.

  • 08:25 Jedi powers !

  • using the the jedi mind trick while beating a guy's ass.

    beat that, skywalker!

  • wow, these twits must think theyre fighting in some foreign land.. spraying bullets at nothing... but the shadow knows

  • Most badass superhero introduction of all time! Much thanks to Jerry Goldsmith!

  • @WolfySnackrib666 :The intro is fantastic. The rest of the movie is disappointing.

  • @veeganboy Sure it isn't quite as badass, but I love all of the movie. Beats the hell out of Christopher Nolan's batman movies. I mean his movies just don't feel unique on this kind of level. The Shadow is 100 % unique.

  • oh... My... GOD! HE'S A JEDI!!!

  • Awesome movie.. One of my favorites

  • that costume makes his nose look gigantic

  • According to Walter Gibson Cranston was trained in espionage, and stage magic. It was the radio show that gave him the cloud men mind's ability. DC comics added the illusionary ability along with ninjitsu training check out Shadow comic site for later info. I have the honor of owning a Shadow's agent ring which I wear always

  • Why does Alec Baldwin's face change when he turns into the Shadow?

  • Penelope Ann Miller is wearing one of the most beautifu ldresses I've seen in the movies.

  • Batman does not have agents running an information racket lol FAIL batman :p

  • they should have tried harder with the Shreevy charactor, they should have. XD

  • what is the shadow skilled in other than clouding mens minds and changing his voice

  • @vincentcapuano he was in the military so weapons and hand to hand combat. he is also Telepathic, which allows him to know about anyone, but his main ability is Master hypnotism. when he is not making himself invisible, he is using it to erase any memory of the shadow from those that aren't his agents and know too much. It saves a hell of a lot of money on a neuralizer. His main weakness is his shadow, beacause its the only thing he cannot hide, anyone that sees it would know where he is.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker k i thought he was trained in martial arts but maybe not?

  • @vincentcapuano well this took place in the 30s back then martial arts was not a very popular thing nor were the western world aware of it. That aside, how could a man block your punches if he can't even see you?

  • @Shanethefilmmaker yeag i guess so

  • @Shanethefilmmaker i thought during ww2 the army used martial arts like karate, judo, jujutsu and boxing

  • @vincentcapuano Jiujitsu and Judo and boxing were taught but back then if you wanted to be taught other martial arts you would have to travel to the respective countries for them.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker but he was in tibet before this could he have learn martial arts from there ?

  • @vincentcapuano True, he was also a dictator there though odds are he didn't have to train under it. Think about it, in a movie sense, if Cranston knew martial arts how would the Tulku's men overpower him.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker well he probabbly only knew the armys martial arts but the tulkus men probably had years of martial arts training and cranston proabably learned more martial arts from the tulku?

  • @vincentcapuano that may seem true also but Tulku's teaching seem more focused on unlocking latent psychic abilities. He would leave the physical fighting to capable men. Odds are those men learned martial arts before meeting the Tulku.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker yeah but what if the shadow did learn martial arts from the tulku if he did what martial arts would he be proficent in ?

  • @vincentcapuano maybe they taught cranston martial arts

  • Why the fuck is Kenny G playing in a 1930s setting?

  • @SforzandoFilms LOL I was thinking the exact same thing!! FAIL!

  • ... I'm Batman.

  • 01:42 EPIC

  • All that maniacal laughing. The shadow is sure a jovial fellow.

  • @wylon87 Alec did such a wonderful job with that laugh, too. Its chilling and funny at the same time. From a story standpoint, it seems like the laughter is part of Cranston's darker side, because it only happens when he's using his powers. Its almost like The Shadow is a manifestation of a spiritual "split personality".

  • 2:07

    Me: THAT WAS AWESOME!! 0_0

  • Love those twin silver-plated, pearl handle 1911s

  • two things bother me...One is how excited Baldwin gets when they hand him his drink....two is Margot Lane- shorty comes to the club by herself dressed like that and briefly pauses at the stairs for her glamour pose, then casually sits down to have a drink by herself. Attention whoring much?

  • this was the first superhero film i ever watched and got me into batman and now im a comic geek lol I REGRET NOTHING!! lol

  • The Shadow Knows...HAHAHA!!!

  • I wish I could laugh like that, freakin' show stopper.

  • @funh3ll its awesome when you can. The look you get is the coolest feeling in the world. Especially when you do it casually.... (mischievous smile)

  • "These are not the clones you are looking for." =_=

  • jedi mind trick, much?

  • good film... but why does he have to laugh like an idiot every five seconds??!! :D

  • @whalepieisyum : Dad told me you can always tell who the bad guy is by his always laughing. In the Shadow's case he is always fighting his dark side, so the more he uses his dark side to fight crime the more he enjoys it (ie he's borderline sociopath). Also the effect gives criminals the same impression which makes them afraid of The Shadow.

  • Did he go from wearing a cape to not wearing a cape to wearing a cape again?

  • Drive.

  • 9:20 "She hears voices"

And I hear Kenny G playing in the background! Noooooooo :O They had smooth jazz back then?! lol

  • dear sir,

thank you for uploading this woefully underrated movie ....you are a legend...

    Sincerely yours,,,

    mchief190

  • @mchief190 your welcome

  • @mchief190 : Not sure about it being "woefully underrated". I think it gets the proper level of recognition that it deserves. Aside from the great opening sequence on the bridge, the rest of the movie is kinda awful. In my opinion.

  • Thanks for uploading this. I can't describe how happy I am!

    I mean it....

  • @ruylee1985 your welcome

  • These army the droids you're looking for... Lol.

  • thats Jack D. My Friends

  • the sun is shining....need to know of the of the other operateaive's out there

  • @darkwarrior1383 but the ice is slippery

  • @xvxThexShadowxvx lolwot you guys know the shadows?

  • the sun is shining....

  • The Sun is Shining but the Ice is slippery!

  • The first 2 minutes here is my favorite scene in the film

  • ddue this is awesome! Thanks a lot! A very underappreciated film.

  • LOL... his "Mandarin" is so made up...

  • we're thinking of remaking this movie...

  • F$%king awesome movie!

  • 8:28 Jedi mind trick! haha.

  • he has his own taxi cab. heh heh

  • he beats spiderman 10-1

  • What I would give to have a place like the Cobalt Club in my town. Why does every restaurant have to be 'hip and trendy'. As long as it's within a decent price an art deco club like that would do great business.

  • @AncientYouth23 Agreed...I used to dream of clubs like that when I was younger. I'd love to go to one now LOL!

  • @shanenolan85 Yeah look how nicely they treat the negro jazz musicians back then (rolls eyes).

  • the jedi mind trick

  • I never understood why he changed to William Baldwin when he was The Shadow. Can anyone explain?

  • @HoodyBoy85 An additional level of 'disguise' created by his psychic powers to protect his identity

  • how come a hero can have such a demonic laugh... it,s the best

  • Ah, when Alec Baldwin was young and handsome.

    *sigh*

  • 8:30 the hypnosis scene is funny, what would have been funnier would be if he did some selfish suggestions to his uncle like "You will get stuck with the dinner bill"

  • @Shanethefilmmaker he owns the place so he bets everything free

  • Man this movie brings back memories I remember

when I would watch this movie and then

I would go to my room and take out my

shadow action figures this movie rocks !

  • @moviefan3571 I'm getting the figures next week. I got them off ebay the other day. :)

  • @xvxThexShadowxvx cool dude which ones?

  • @moviefan3571 transforming lamont cranston, lightning draw shadow, ambush shadow, bulletproof shadow, the car and motorcycle

  • @xvxThexShadowxvx Is the ambush shadow figure the one that is like invisible i think have that one still I also have the one that transforms did you buy Shiwan Khan? and i still have the taxi cab

  • @moviefan3571 no I didn't get khan all 4 figures, the car and motorcycle came together in 1 pack and I just bought that plus my mom doesn't know and she would have a fit if she found out so I only bought those

  • @xvxThexShadowxvx oh well why would your mom get mad? but hey you made som good choices

  • @moviefan3571 cause she doesn't want me to waste my money but I have a job and I can pay for it. they came today and she actually was pretty ok about me getting them which was a shocker but I'm happy

  • @xvxThexShadowxvx hell ya man i would be happy also lol it would bring my child hood memories back

  • @moviefan3571 yeah I know

  • @xvxThexShadowxvx all you need now is the bad guy and you will be set

  • @moviefan3571 Yup :)

  • great voice job! maybe he should have coached christian bale...!

  • Thanks for sharing! Great film!

  • @arzy2008 no problem

  • @TheShadow772 the sin is shining... ;)

  • @arzy2008 ...but the ice is slippery. ;)

  • @arzy2008 lmao you guys are too much

  • @arzy2008 the "Sun" is shining not sin

  • @arzy2008 The sun is shining...

  • @WolfySnackrib666 not yet..

  • @arzy2008 :(

  • @WolfySnackrib666 soon ... very soon

  • @WolfySnackrib666 but the ice is slippery

  • @bwrarr You will become one of my agents!

  • @bwrarr lol..it is isn't it...nearly broke my neck...

  • Alec Baldwin may be completely unbelievable as an opium lord, but DYAMN if he doesn't have one scary voice.

  • What a Great Movie- haven't seen it in Years...

    Thanks for Posting... :)

  • @flashart welcome :)

  • Did someone call me? =D

  • Wait, when he first fully appears I don't think he's wearing the cape. They cut away, then cut back and he's then got the cape.

    Or am I seeing wrong?

  • @ReginaDucat It was an error in postproduction. They envisioned a massive CGI cloak that swirls in the wind as he stands there, staring the mobsters down. (You can actually catch a glimpse of the original CGI work in cutaway clips during the Taylor Dayne Music Video.) But it looked REALLY fake and didn't match up with the rest of the long take because, as you can see between 1:43 and 2:02, there's no wind on the bridge.

  • @ReginaDucat Capes don't sometimes fall the way you want them, they can just hang to one side more than the other. As a short time stage actor, it gets really annoying. They showed that to be more realistic clothing wise.

  • The best scene in the movie is that scene on the bridge. The first twenty minutes of this movie are solid gold. Everything after that just kind of falls flat. The plot, while pulpy isn't great and all of the supporting characters are just awkward comic relief. The initial scenes, where the movie kind of takes itself seriously are the best.

  • I love how they just use a change in lighting (and reflective contact lenses) to convey the Shadow's use of the "Jedi mind trick." Very old school, yet still visually effective.

  • @alancats

    They forgot the hand wave.

The jedi's main power comes from their magical wiggle fingers.

  • @Apollomasque

    Magical Jazz Hands?

  • @DontcallmeFrenchy

The Sith have Magical Jazz hands. It's the source of their lightning power.

    Jedi have Magical Wiggle Fingers.

  • @Apollomasque Who needs jedi hand waves when you can dangle the bastard off a bridge

  • @Shanethefilmmaker

    WIGGLE. FINGERS.

  • Coolest part is begins at 1:43 and ends at 2:02 ! , thx TheShadow772.

  • @movieman69100 no problem

  • Rothchild......sounds familar and Tim Curry Later says New World Order......

  • yes thank you!!!

  • When Alec Baldwin wasn't fat hehe.

  • the ring thing remindes me of the phantom

  • @kilroy8989: The laugh reminds me of the Phantom of the Opera.

  • i think that monk that trained the shadow was a jedi

  • 1:25 - so wonderful view! :)

  • This movie owns dude:) I remember it so well because it's one of the 1st movie i've seen where the hero/villians create illusions telepathically. Nice.

  • the music at 1:40 is so bone chilling its sick!

  • Thanks for uploading one of my favorite movies of all time!!

  • @kingskid1985 your welcome

  • i love how he walks in like he owns the place (^_^)

  • awesome movie keep it up

  • @yungrottz112 agreed

  • @yungrottz112 And his creepy dark voice is much better... *neahahahaaaa!!!!NEHAHAHAHAAAA!!!" lol

  • @yungrottz112 lol. same could eb said about the lone ranger.

  • @yungrottz112 I knew someone was going to come up with this. They both came up almost at the same time in the 1930's Batman is not inspired by The Shadow both are different heroes. Plus Batman killed villains when he fisrt appear so no Batman is not inspred by The Shadow at all.

  • @Deadshot089 Bob Kane himself said it dude

  • @yungrottz112 No he's an inspiration of Sherlock Holmes, Doc Savage, the Mask of Zorro and The Bat Whispers.
