People who are murdered do not actively choose their fate most of the time. These fishermen were stupid enough to go out on the ice when they knew it had cracked. It is not the job of the tax payer to bale out a bunch of idiots who decide to engage in dangerous activities. They should be responsible for their actions because the tax payer shouldn't be punished because a bunch of morons wanted to fish on cracked ice.

You don't think I understand the implications of someone dying? It is an unfortunate event and it is unfortunate because it could have been avoided. However it doesn't mean the tax payers should be punished because of these people's actions. I am not saying that these people did not deserve to be rescued.
