If your are sliding on any kind of ice, at any speed, at any angle follow these steps as followed.

Step 1: Do not panic! Stay calm, and do NOT slam on the brakes!

Step 2: Turn your steering wheel towards the direction of the slide, it sounds crazy, I know, but this will straiten your car out.

Step 3: GENTLY tap the breaks with 1 second pauses in between each tap. This will slow you down.

Follow these steps, and you could save a life, if not your own.

Don't know why so many 4wd owners believe they don't need snow chains. While 4x4 might help one go, it does little to help one stop. Without snow chains, an SUV will slide on ice just like any other vehicle. Chains require only a few moments to install and can save lives - yours and others on the road. We always carry snow chains in our trucks.
