Moral of the story; don't threaten the police (or anyone else for that matter) with a kitchen knife.
And to the rubiconski2008 moron, who defends themselves with a kitchen knife when the staff is trying to talk to them? You think this is acceptable behavior? Do you brandish a kitchen knife each time you have an argument or disagreement?
FYI, the police did try to diffuse the situation, the guy wouldn't put the knife down. He did not allow them to act peaceably. Duh.
Daniel was a beautiful peaceful freedom loving person. He was obviously defending himself from abusive staff at this facility (NOT uncommon). The police could have easily diffused the situation by offering him, protection and hearing his side of the story. Unbelievable that he's now dead.
I recall the incident. This occured on Sunnyside Avenue in San Anselmo at a home for the mentally ill. A taser was fired, but only one electrode made contact. Becuase of this and also becuase he did not drop the weapon, the bullett was fired to stop him. This occured right across the street from Wade Thomas Elementary School, the sane school I used to attend. The story here is wrong. Daniel was NOT stunned with a taser. If he was, he would not have been fired upon. Think about it.
