Sadly some serious mistakes were made by OR NORML. I know that a long time patient and member of the Cannabis Scene in Portland was treated unfairly. She is a disabled woman and medical cannabis patient who ran afoul of Madeline in an unrelated matter, and who was arbitrarily not allowed to enter the Cafe through the first floor "handicapped entrance", even though she met all of the state and federal standards for being permanently handicapped and presented medical documentation.
Instead of giving away billions to inhuman drug cartels, let's re-legalize a substance safer than alcohol in that: it's not physically addictive, it has ZERO recorded overdoses, may REDUCE instances of certain types of cancer & increase life expectancy (Journal of Cancer Prevention Research, 2009), & is AMA classified as medicinally important.
I wouldn't mind a cannabis cafe in my neighborhood at all. I've been around lots of different types of substance users over the years and the marijuana users were consistently pleasant to be around.
It's nice that patients are able to get out of their houses and mingle with other people who are going through similar things and suffering from similar illnesses. Moral support and socializing are important for mental health.
what the fuck are these people "concerned" about? a bunch of friendly 20-somethings willing to spend their cash on a movie or good meal at a local diner?
people are living in the past... eventually this country has to grow out of the "scared shitless by bullshit propaganda and lies" phase.
"there is some apprehension, yes. but the exact nature of the outcome is still uncertain and i just am not a the position to form a significant opinion."
what?
you're gonna be their fucking neighbor, man. of course you have an opinion.
I think what he means is that since the cafe isn't opened yet, he can't say if it's going to be a good or bad thing.
Actually a good thing to do; you'll notice he didn't come out and say "these pot smoking idiots are going to ruin my business" or something. Good for him.
awesome holland has coffee shops, we'll have cannabis cafes im down very legit. i will get a medical card if i have to since some of the reasons for my use are purely medicinal. let this spread cross-country!

I say we keep opening up cafes and just push towards legalization. Tax and regulate.
