  • Is it goverment land where you are setup? Is there alot of rules as to what you are allowed to do?

  • @stymiesam Thats private land and we do have the permission to be there and do what we did. Thank you for your concern.

  • I guess, just like me, you are missing Wawa's coffee too. Have a safe return to the US and post lots of videos from there.

  • Looks like a good trip, I wonder if during the summer here in Florida those bush beds would work set high like that, I'm going to have to try it. Thanks for the videos, I really enjoyed them. I always use duct tap on both sides of a hole, seems to work better and last longer, almost a permenat fix. Of course that won't work if the item is wet. Brazil looks a lot like Florida, even though South Florida is a sub tropical environment N. Florida is a bit of a mix.

  • @muddog1561 I spent 2.5 years in Pensacola (non-military) and the forest there is very similar though not so tall. Very dense bush at ground level. I don't see why a tall bed frame wouldn't work in FL. IIRC the soil was very sandy, lots of pine etc. It would make for better sitting than moldy leaves.

  • @Colhane I've been to Appalachacola a couple of times. One day I want to get over there and hike the section of Florida trail. I'm over in N E FL. One day I hope to move somewhere where there's mountains. I'm so tired of Florida.

  • He could find 4 limbs with a Y log hammer them into the ground to heigth to support those latteral supports? Personally they make hammocks that weigh 2 pounds just never leave home without one. I was wondering they make those cuban fiber tarps I know they are considered expensive but can they be made into hammocks? You rather not wear anything sharp in them but I was just wonering if anyone has attempted to use cuban fiber as a hammock? Ron Paul 2012

  • My back is in pain since I saw your log bed... Nice video, I like your adventures in jungle very much! Now I'm going for may coffee too :)

  • i think i got on the band wagon with the coffee. If I go to the woods and don't make myself a cup of coffee it's almost like the day is not complete. It tastes better to me. As does everything in the woods. I really like this series. Never thought about building a bush bed as high off the ground. It does make perfect sense.

Have a safe trip and a speedy return!

  • @SpartanJohns I'll give you the three secrets to the perfect cup of coffee...

There's no such thing as a poor cup of coffee in the bush.

  • Do you have a video on the contents of that kit. Also I found out that those light sticks actuall work well way past their expiration data.

  • @Texasoutback Yes I do have a video. IIRC the only things I changed in the kit since that video was to add the lightstick and to use chlorine tablets rather than iodine.

  • @Colhane would it be possible to provide the link to that vid. I was not able to find it.

  • Do you have a video on the contents of that kit.

  • Great stuff! I really enjoy your videos and learning about how the jungle has it's own set of rules to live in comfortably on the fly.

  • Whats this talk of you returning to the states?

  • @jbr1074 Just a 4 month trip Dec to April.

  • I'm going to try and not comment on every video, but it's a common human practice to have some kind of "narcotic" (for lack of a better general word) as a regular part of the diet. It's a very rare culture that doesn't have tea, coffee or some other regular concoction.

Even juice could be considered as one of those with a high dose of sugars delivered to an undiluted, waking system.

Anyone who begins their day with just water is something of a freak among humanity.

  • with a tarp like that you could also use it for rain collection while its serving as a shelter just another plus to carrying a tarp

  • that was great...........thx

  • i wish i had a place where i could just build shelters without getting into trouble for chopping trees. nice setups.

  • @FixedByDoc Come to my hood, I let you chop buddy

  • @oregonmikes im going to try again this summer to get out there. hopefully oil doesnt skyrocket again. im saving for the february trip to medicjimr's hammock quest then after that i start saving for the oregon trip. hopefully it works out this time.

  • Coffee, nectar of the gods!

  • I knew you would make it. Now Coffee. I think half of North America is walking around partially dehydrated from drinking coffee. Its good that you stop at one cup. If you drink enough of the stuff and are doing lots of activity, you can dehydrate yourself.

  • I am addicted to caffeine and I carry caffeine pills in my first aid kit. If I do not get caffeine, I get very bad headaches. I prefer coffee, but conditions sometimes prevent me from making it.

  • @colhane i keep coffee for long nights or when i need to spend the night trekking back or 2 camp . the morning the body needs maximum hydration , i tend to forget water after a coffee and it s my mistake even in the city im better off with green the , may i add that many people have bin smoking and drinking for years and some just cant haandle not having there dose like you :)

  • an addict in the woods is not good / cigarettes / sugar / drugs / alcool is all a reason to have a false sence of security and cause pannick or . those who are on anti depressant scare the heck out of me when they lack food sleep or medication wile on the trail .basic fundamentals is to carry what you can and find in the wild what you need to survive .

    wey protein

    powder milk

    brown sugar

    flower

    tea and natural infusable plants

    vitamins minerals food supplements

    minute rice ...

  • @alexgoyettemobile I wouldn't classify myself an addict. I've been drinking one cup of coffee a day for 25 years, every morning, and never got addicted... Seriously though, if I don't get my coffee I'm sort of grumpy but I get over it. It's more of a ritual that I enjoy very much than anything serious, one I'm not willing to give up without a fight. Personal meds are another story. I used to hike with a diabetic who gave himself insulin injections every morning.

  • Guliano , when are you coming to the states and do some videos here with Mac.
