  • srry to bother you but that uses electro magnetic power to lift the elevator so if there just happens to be a blackout....you're FUCKED but still I find this design extremely innovative for its time and will greatly shorten waiting periods for elevators...if they have some sort of emergency sytem

  • There's death traps just waiting to happen.

What happens in a power failure?

  • NEAT@!

  • This looks like a solution in search of a problem. Mechanical elevators are the safest and most reliable form of transport ever devised in terms of passenger-kilometres travelled. And pretty cheap to run. So what's there to fix? Multi-car running in a single shaft is an interesting idea but Maglev requires huge electrical currents and really strong magnetic fields to work. I'd be worried about humans being exposed to such strong magnetic field. Better not have a pacemaker...

  • I like the multi-car idea but wouldn't the elevators get stuck behind each other causing a traffic jam.

  • @yokcmace well this IS a cyclic elevator so it works similar to the paternoster where multiple cars move up and down in separate shafts without call or floor buttons and when it reaches the bottom or top it just moves sideways into the adjacent shaft and this maglev elevator has a similar cycle except it uses rotary magnets see what happens is the magnets travel on a rail and spin to make the elevator literally levitate and the magnets move up and down on the rails (i'm not entirely sure though)

  • are you aware of any real implementation?
