The big problem with him calling himself Dragonslayer is that he was the only one calling himself that, but he kept insisting that it was his nickname and that other people called him that out of respect for his genius. In short, he gave himself a grandiose nickname because of his enormous ego, and he repeatedly tried to claim that it was bestowed upon him by others based on their awe of his skill.

I realized that the only real problem with him calling himself a Dragon Slayer is that Dragon Slayers are human. The greatest one of all time, Gawaine Hardy, was killed by a dragon after slaying fifty of them, and Coach was voted off because of Errin mostly. Both of the Slayers were done in by little dragons.
