@osp80 z06vette.com/forums/f8/whats-fastest-stock-z06-1-4-mile-time-87461/ this is the best source of times i could find and i guess they are quicker than i thought but again on street tires that would be very very difficult to get. We're talking perfect conditions and brand new tires and an amazing driver.
@chrisinator13 He is a bad rider because he is using the clutch and is not fully tucked in - these two things make a big difference in a roll on race. Just to stereotype a bit, but about 99% of the time I see a guy wearing just a hoodie/t-shirt and a backprotector with no jacket or gloves on youtube, I already know they are going to be a crappy rider
I love how all of the people commenting think the vette is SO FAST for barely beating a 600. Put it against any 1k performance bike and watch it get smoked.
@halphbreed23 Z06 runs at about 75,000 lol. So yeah, 65,000 extra.
@svt89 Not when it's raining or when it's TOO cold outside, but trust me when I say you're wrong about the rest.
Of course the longer geared vette will win eventually. The bike is made for the twisty stuff and will smash a vette in the 1/4 mile. Here is the kicker. A vette is like 60,000 grand brand new. The bike is 10,000.....The cost to fun ratio is heavily out weighed in favor of the bike. The bike owner still has 50,000 dollars to pick up the younger ladys and not the left over cougars. LOL...Ride safe homie
@halphbreed23 Im pretty sure a ladie isnt ganna ride in the winter or when its raining. Most girls wont an ac blowing to keep them cool and looking good not the hot ass son beating down on them.So the extra 50k is worth it you can take it out when you wont cycle guys dont ride in the winter. And lets face it a chick would wont to ride in a vette over a bike cause they think dude has money.
Race the R6 on a Track ... jeez dick drivers, in their cars trying to go motorcycle fast...you can do IT!!! good JOB .... LOL i ride an R6 and this is just funny Also see R6 vs Lamborgini the Race.... Lol Dose the vette driver have grey hair, and cruze main street of course hunting cougars and them super-cycle kids.... Pffff Real cool car Tards... hit a track then talk Lol or race a bike thats not a 600cc , Douche bags its so funny its stupid how they are all Jazz'ed to like barely pull on a R6!
nice races. everyone also has to remember, bikes after abour 150-160 loose all their accelerationg which is why once it gets up there the vette starts pulling. vetts have amazing top end. thats why you have to do races to like 160 not just 60-whenever lol
I dunno...something about racing a motorcycle at night wigs me out. You might want to trade the jeans in for some leathers. Jeans always lose to asphalt.
Unfortunately it wouldn't even matter if he had a dynojet quickshifter an r6 cannot beat a z06 on a long freeway race! Period! AMA pro sportbikes don't have the top speed. Vette does close to 200mph! R6 165
- Are you being serious? He's starting in 2nd and an r6 is not going to power wheelie in 2nd (I owned one). Not to mention the fact that keeping the front wheel down is faster. You don't see guys at the track riding wheelies when accellerating for a reason.
@all4bao Take it to the track. This guy can't even drive that bike in a straight line, imagine some corners. Also, don't have to hug a gas tank, crotch rockets aren't fun up top, and riding one too long gets painful.
@yorad On a bike it makes an enormous difference, especially on a 600CC bike. Those shifts cost him 5-6 lengths, easy. Take a look at the powerband a 600CC bike produces, just that tiny difference will cost a tenth or two every time he shifts, which in racing is huge.
@svt11111 Yes, clutching may have cost a couple lengths, but not because of powerband. You have to dip out of the throttle whether you clutch or not and you're at the same RPM in the next gear whether you clutch or not. I know how 600s work, I owned 2 before I bought the Hayabusa. The "what-ifs" are pointless though; if he hadn't clutched he may have had a couple more lengths and if the Z06 hadn't had a passenger he'd still win. That's not the race we are watching though.
@yorad What do you mean? No, actually you're not at the same RPM whether you clutch or not. When the clutch goes in RPMs drop to zero, even if it's for a fraction of a millisecond.
I've personally seen it first hand with my GSXR600. I used to trap 127mph all day, I've tried shifting as fast as possible clutching and I couldn't trap above 123mph.
I do agree that the what-ifs are kind of a moot point though. A race is a race, whoever is ahead wins regardless of what could have been.
@svt11111 - I'm out of this discussion from here until you learn a little more. The RPMs may drop a couple thousand but they certainly don't go to 0 and as soon as you pull the clutch and it's going back to the same RPM anyway for the next gear. Use your head for a second; you're saying the engine stalls when you pull the clutch? If you don't believe me ask a mechanic. You seem like a smart person, don't argue this point. Trust me. I'm not saying you didn't trap faster, but 0 RPM is incorrect.
@yorad They don't literally go to zero ya goof, they begin to drop to zero. What happens if you hold the clutch in? The RPMs will eventually fall to zero. My point is when you put the clutch in, even those fractions of a second the RPMs fall.
Don't need to ask a mechanic, it's common sense and I've proven the theory to myself countless times at a dragstrip with my own bike.
@thestrokeds10 High RPM won't matter either. Here's how you do it: 1) Right before you shift put light upward pressure on the shifter 2) Dip out of the throttle quickly and as soon as there is no load on the gears it will slip easily into the next gear 3) Immediately take your toe off the shifter and roll back into the throttle as soon as it slips into the next gear. You're doing exactly the same thing dipping out of the throttle as you are by pulling the clutch; unloading the gears.
@The870Express It doesn't hurt anything on any modern sportbike. You typically want to clutch the 1-2 shift so you don't hit neutral. Sequential manual transmissions were made to do this but it surprises me how many riders don't know it. One of the bike magazines did an article on it a couple years ago talking about how they were amazed how many riders at a track day were wasting time clutching up-shifts. You see a lot of race videos with guys doing it as well.
