daleksfearthewhovian, don't call people an idiot. it's unkind.
batmanmarch is rignt. It seems that most of Cybermrchew's concern is with flashier special effects. The new Cybermen move clumsily and laughably, they're risibly easy to defeat...and as for them being more "imaginative" than the originals - they were RIPPED OFF from the originals pretty much wholesale (and made far wimpier than the originals ever were).
Yep. The annoying walk, stealing/altering Dalek lines, looking ALOT like Ironman.
To me, 10th Planet, Tomb and Revenge were MY Cybermen. :) I showed tomb to a 8 year old kid...his mom said he had nightmares for a week....let's see the Cybrus Cybermen do THAT. :D
Just been watching the series for the first time (well, mostly first since I've seen a few Tom Bakers). I love the Cybermen! 10th Planet was an excellent episode. Too bad part 4 got wiped though.
Nice figures. Glad to know the Cybermen continue to appear in the series. :)
interested to read all the views about the various design of Cybermen. I prefer the older ones, especially the 1980's version. i have worked with both the old and the new cybermen side by side and in real life the 1980's ones are much scarier as they are silent when they move and the actor inside can't help breathing heavily! The new one's on the other hand because they are made of fibreglass peices clunk about when walking. Of course on tv this is covered by the special effects and music. lozza

Good comment my favourite classic cybermen were from Tomb of the cybermen and the moonbase. I still prefer the new cybermen more though, maybe its because of their new look that makes them look indestructible or the way they can convert 1000's of people in a couple of hours. The war has ended now any way, it went on for 5 and a half pages, thats got to be the biggest argument on YouTube ever between two people.
Just to add to this little war of words.... In my opinion and for their time the classic series 60's Cybermen are far better then the new ones. Though i disagree with bat when he say the only good new cyberman appearnence is in Dalek as that's a very rubbish head from the classic series. The new cybermen are good too. They are still scary and they are sure to scare the youngsters.
You wouldnt be able to get close enough to cause any damage; it would see you and kill you on sight. When the new cybermen need units fast they sometimes upgrade the entire body which is very similar to what they did in Attack of the cybermen only faster. Tomb is probably the best classic episode but I prefer the new cybermen a lot more. As you said previously before mouthing off the cyberking we should agree to disagree. This conversation has gone on too long its 5 pages altogether.
But if it had only one arm it would still have slight difficulty in trying to apprehend somone in the heat of battle. But as you say we should agre to disagree.
Have you noticed that you only saw a couple of people be converted by the old rubbish cybermen were as you actually see the new cybus cybermen upgrading people. This makes them far more frightening than ever before. And the fact that some cybermen can remember who they were and still continue to act like a normal cyberman without emotion shows how powerful over people the new cybermen are. It shows that the emotional inhibiter is doing its job absolutely fine.
I like the fact that the conversion process isn't fully explored, it leaves more to the viewers imagination. Attack gives a little bit of insight by showing the human remains under the metal which I think is scarier than just being a brain. But the emotional inhibitor can be easily by passed resulting in the destruction of all Cybusmen. Our Cybermen don't have this problem as they use mind altering drugs and surgically removed these areas of the brain.
Tomb is nowhere near as good rise. Cybus cybermen are not stupid even if you had the tools to cut off its arm it would shoot you from a mile away and if you sneaked up behind it, it would kill you via electrocution or use its brute force. And even if you did manage to get its arm off somehow it is still pretty strong, it still has its electroshock, it could pick up another weapon or it could go back to the factory and have its arm replaced very easily like machines.
You must be out of your mind to say that Rise is better than Tomb. They aren't even in the same league! Tomb is a masterpiece! The Cybermen coming out of hibernation is extremely impressive even today, something that I have tried to reflect in my most recent videos. Also, in the heat of battle its unlikely that a one armed Cybusman would do much, going back to get it's arm fixed would be out of the question, and unless it picked up ahuman weapon it would be quite open to attack.
@borgduck so true the most advanced cybermen in my upinion are the one's from the 70's 80's and 60's becuse they chould moce with out noise and looked more like humans
@borgduck so true the most advanced cybermen in my upinion are the one's from the 70's 80's and 60's becuse they chould moce with out noise and looked more like humans
@Cybermrchew 'Tomb is nowhere near as good rise' o_o What. The. Flying. Fuckery. Are. You. Dribbling. About. You really have no idea what quality drama is do you?
How on earth are the new series cybermen complicated? Its quite a simple story line to grasp only an idiot would consider it to be complicated. To be honest the daleks have been a bit boring as they keep getting repeated and they definitely need a couple of years rest. The best cybermen have been from the new series, I may get a bad mark for this but the old cybermen were shit, total shit thanks to their crapy looking nature and the poor, unrealistic storylines that came with them.
I never said that they were complicated. I said they overcomplicate things by having two different speices of Cybermen. How can you unrealistic storylines? It's science fiction, it's not supposed to be completely realistic. And I again bring up classic stories such as "Tomb of the Cybermen, Earthshock, The Moonbase, The Invasion" all brilliant stories! The new ones to hold a candle to the quality of stories there. Any real Doctor Who fan with any sense would agree. "Tomb" beats "Rise" easily.
Bazookas and grenades could stop the old cybermen but the new cybermen would be unaffected. Some of their steel plates would be damaged and a bit blackened but the cyber unit would still be functional. An antitank round would destroy a new cyber unit though. When the people are upgraded and turned into cybusmen they have there memories erased and they are surgically inhibited from feeling emotions much like the old cybermen so stop making up rubbish.
You obviously don't pay attention to what goes on do you. The Cybusman that was Jacqui Tyler remembered who it was, as did the one who remembered her wedding and Hartmen at Torchwood. So their memories aren't erased! Lytonn couldn't remeber who the Doctor was as the drugs the real Cybermen used were wiping his mind.
As I said previously lasers and machine guns have no effect on the cybermen. With machine guns against the new cybermen you can see the bullets bouncing off were as lasers against the old cybermen was a case of a very crapy special effect and the cybermen just standing there. The only lasers that effected the old cybermen were there own guns, which repeatedly got used against them. The new cybermen have inbuilt weapons and do not suffer from this design floor.
You're missing the point. You stated a present day machine gun was better than futuristic technology which is rediculous. It is also spelt flaw not floor. And their inbuilt weapons can also be classed as a design flaw, if you cut it's right arm off or blew it off it would be buggered as the only effective long range weapon it had is now gone.
I highly doubt that the new cybus cybermen have been totally wiped out. As you said previously they will find a way around it. But I am grad that they developed a new type of cyberman, the old ones that kept reappearing and eventually they became quite boring. When the doctor who team revived Dr who they imagined a brand new type of cybermen for the 21st centaury. They definitely have imaginations as if they brought back the old cybermen that would be predictable and boring.
Its doubtful we'll see Cybusmen under Moffat's reign, probably the real ones instead. And how can you say seeing the old Cybermen come back was boring! That's like saying the past four years of Doctor Who has been crap because the Daleks have been in every series! Which I have to say, they've been used too much and need a little break. The new Cybus was to get around the complicted Cyber history, but they've overcomplicated it with a new race. So far the only good Cyber appearance was in "Dalek"
You keep down playing the new cybermen saying their rubbish because they cant build crapy spaceships...bla bla bla... The new cybermen are only just evolving they dont have time to build space ships when they already have people on their world waiting to be upgraded. When they do need to take over a capital fast they have three options. Hypnotize the local population and make them walk into the conversion factories, use a cyberking or just use their vast numbers to scare the population.
Well they can't do any of the above options because they've been wiped out. It doesn't say much for them does it. Creating parallel Cybermen when there were already Cybermen in our universe was a stupid idea. And I think the production team can see that now as RTD has got rid of them.
The laser guns and machine guns have the same effect on the cybermen, so to be honest I would prefer the machine gun as you could see were the bullets were hitting. If you were holding a laser gun you dont know were you are hitting and you look a prick from a star treck convention. The invasion cybermen got repeatedly destroyed by grenades and bazooka fire. This wouldnt even dint the steel plates on the new cybermen so they do last longer than the old cybermen.
Have you even watched Earthshock? A laser beam comes out of the end of the gun and hits the target, so of course you can see what you are hitting! And by saying "you look a prick from a star treck convention" shows you know little of Doctor Who. They use that weaponary all of the time, so you are basically saying that a TV show that you watch is shit. I'll grant bazookas stopped Cybermen, but then again I wouldn't be suprised if this would damage a Cybusman.
As you said before repeating your point does not make a valid argument, the new cybermen have to stomp around as they are made from steel instead of shit looking costumes that looked unrealistic and had not a chance in hell of standing up to enemy fire. You could destroy a cyberman by using a gold tipped arrow, they were total shit, if you were armed with that you wouldnt stand a chance with todays cybermen because they have better armor and they are not so fatally floored.
You must remeber classic Who was for people who had imaginations. The silver overalls was not inteded to be that, but highly sophisticated maleable, light weight and strrong armour. Yes Gold kills Cybermen, but then again as long as you type a code into a computer and stick a mirror in front of a Cybusman it explodes! The real CYbermen actually removed your memories with drugs and surgery so they don't have this as a problem.
You say that the old cybermen have excellent amour, utter crap. Dont worry well stand up to the grenades and machine guns wearing spray painted silver pyjamas and stupid looking and unrealistic tin foil. The old cybermen were venerable to gold, come on! All you have to do is rub a gold medal on its breathing unit and it will die. If you tried to do that with a new cybermen it would look at you blankly and heartlessly kill you. The old cybermen were made of foil because of the BBCs budget.
Again, they never wore tin foil. They wore flight simulator suits in the latter years. The woman who designed the Cybermen originally has previously said that out of the designs, the 80's was the best. Even David Tennant thought they looked good compared to the new ones. And to be fair, think how close you'd need to be to rub the gold into a Cyberman's chest. You'd be shot or have your arm ripped off before you could stick it into a Cyberman. Prime example of this is in "Revenge".
And by the way it is you sir that is talking absolute nonsense! The weapons in the future are shit you would be far better off with a machine gun as at least you could see were you were hitting. You say that the new cybermen cant stand up to antitank rounds, thats true but the old cybermen from invasion couldnt even stand up to primitive grenades. As I said before the cybermen need information so they need to use old technology as they are only just evolving and info is important in battle.
Are you out of your mind! How can a machine gun of 2009 be better than a weapon thousands of years in the future! Repeating your already stupid statment does not make a valid argument! Its just absurd! It's like saying a bow and arrow is better than a machine gun! The Invasion Cybermen were able to stand up to grenades, they fell over and got up again. That was all.
You call the new cybermen hopeless, they are not hopeless they have only being evolving for a couple of years and they are made from current earth technology if you want to compare them, compare them to the very first cybermen and the new cybus cybermen win every time. They have better weapons, they are stronger and they are immune to radiation. The new cybermen are the real cybermen. The new cybermen are more powerful than before and they can get their numbers up faster.
The Tenth Planet Cybermen were still extremely strong (able to bend a machine gun) and had space travel technology. The new Cybermen can't be better as they have all been wiped out! Very easily as well. It's given Moffat a clean slate so that he can go back and use the much prefered real Cybermen i.e the Mondasian/ Telosian version. Moffat himself has stated that he would like to bring back the original silent, shadowy killers likened to the Troughton era, rather than stomping about.
And another thing you were saying that the weapons in earthshock couldnt destroy the cybermen, thats because those lasers have about the same as machine guns. Machine guns cannot destroy any cybermen so I dont know what you are on about; anti tank missiles are more powerful any day. You may say that an old cannon is old fashioned but it can still kill you any day, its the same principle. The old cybermen have had 1000s of years to evolve and they are still not as good as todays cybermen.
You are talking nonsense! How on earth could a weapon from thousands of years in the future, be the equivalent to a present day machine gun! You are making no sense! Granted they used anti tank rockets, but real Cybermen could stand up to it. They would sustain damage obviously, but not fatal. And the real Cybermen are still going in our universe, where as it has been said that the Cybusmen are all but destroyed from the void collapsing etc. No doubt this was to get aound RTD creating them.
The new cybermen are far more realistic than the older cybermen for example the old cybermen were made from tin foil which cannot stand up to machine gun fire were as steel plates can. And by the way the daleks are far more advanced than any type of cybermen, they have built whole planets made from dalekanium, which has an engine at its heart and could destroy the TARDIS itself, the dalek crucible. Plus the daleks once took over earth and tried to mine out the earths magnetic core.
You obviously have little if any knowledge regarding the classic series. The Cybermen were never made of foil, and they could stand up against machine guns with ease. The real Cybermen see steel as an antiquated metal, with a Cybergun being able to blow open a Cybusman easilly. They don't need to be big and clunky to be strong either. The real Cybes are more streamlined, perfect for stealth and warfare.
You forget the ones on the parallel earth are only just evolving, what makes them more frightening than the old cybermen is that they have evolved from our technology and as we get more and more advanced technology we get closer to being like them. Any way when the cybermen were down on power they needed primitive technology to update themselves so its quite useful that they can use inferior devices to get more in formation, this is why the new cybermen are superior to the old cocky cybermen.
But the real Cybermen don't need to use primitive technology! They are so more advanced that it just wouldn't work. They could use it, but there would be little point. The Cybusmen stole half of their stuff from the Daleks because they were hopeless!
The new cybermen last a hell of a lot longer than the old cybermen that were wearing silver pyjamas and as I said before the army were using weapons that could take out tanks on the cybermen. The earpods can control the whole population of earth, send them to be upgraded and if you take them off your brain gets fried. And by the way that company logo can access any computerised device thats much better than exposed breathing apparatus that can easily get clogged by gold and choke them.
You keep saying that about the weapons, but what about Earthsock and Silver Nemesis? The soldiers in Earthschock had highly advanced weaponry, thousands of years ahead of what we've got now. They couldn't stop Cybermen with them. So it's safe to say that our tech would be hopeless against the real Cybermen. Another way to back this up is in Silver Nemesis. Granted the weapons the Neo-Nazis used are old up till now but they didn't work on Cybermen.
Plus the Cybermen don't need to plug themselves in to Earth technology. They are far beyond it. As the Cyber Leader would say. "Earth technology is primitive compared to ours", and that is thounds of years in the future. Our current technology must be like rubbing sticks together to make fire from their point of view. Bear in mind, this is a race that replaced the core of their planet with an engine, able to pilot it anywhere! Not even the Daleks could do that!
Thats because the invasion cybermen were made from painted silver clothing and silver wellies. The new cybermen are supposed to be made of steel and in case you don't know steel is quite heavy. The old cybermen had rubbish weaponry and they kept getting shot by their own guns because unlike the new cybermen (whose weapons are built in) they always carried their guns and they kept getting nicked. The new cybermen have weapons such as retractable lasers, electroshock or just brute force.
Made of steel or not the new ones still got blown to pieces repeatedly and makes a mockery of the phrase "We will survive". You sure will as long as you aren't Cybus! The classic Cybermen have all of the above, electroshock, which can be fired from great distances and brute strength. They also have far greater mind control capabilities as they didn't need bits of plastic to stick in your ears, they could be rooms away and still take over you. Also, they didn't have stupid "C"'s on their chest!
The three new series Cybermen stories were crap. The classics have had excellent stories, Tomb of the Cybermen, which is ranked as one of the greatest stories of all time. Earthshock, The Moonbase, The Invasion and to a degree Revenge of the Cybermen. You seem to keep going on about the Cybermen being low on power, thus creating the Cyberking, which is a rather majestic title for creatures with no emotion Controller on the other hand is far more mechanical.
The classic Cybermen had better weaponry as they had alien technology at their disposal from centuries of galactic conquest. They're creepier from their silent, stalking nature of the Troughton era unlike the stomping we have today.
There is nothing wrong with the story and there have been plenty of very poor classic cybermen stories that are just awful and stupid. Besides the cybermen needed to use the cyberking as they were low on power and they needed to take over a capital fast then convert people to build up their strength. You said previously that the new cybermen are chunky robots, if they didn't build the cyberking they would be boring and predictable if they just started upgrading people with no real plan.
Was that the best comeback you come up with? "Originals are always better so there?" WTF, how old are you, six! .Cant you at least when fighting an unwinnable argument put a clever comment in instead of something that a toddler would say. Buy a thesaurus man and at least have some basic English lessons for god sake! And by the way in a copy of you choice of words... "New ones are ALWAYS better so there!"
OK, then. Tell me how New series ones are better. I bet David Tennant is your favourite Doctor too. And you won't watch the show when Matt Smith is the Doctor.
Firstly David tenant wasn't my favourite doctor, he played it well although I preferred it when Christopher Eccleston and Tom Baker when they played the doctor role and for your information I will continue to watch doctor who episodes when the new doctor steps in as it will be interesting to see how he makes the role his. If you had an attention span and can read you may also want to direct your attention on why the new cybermen are better than the old by viewing some of my older paragraphs.
Just viewed them, it proves nothing "Oh they have stronger metal, so they are better" New series Cybermen are complete and utter RUBBISH! Classic Cybermen are spooky, effective and are good enemies. These new series Cybermen are basicly robots.
I'd rather have a cold logical and cunning cyberman (or a robot as you call them) with virtual invulnerability, intense strength, awesome fire power and larger numbers any day when compared to the classic cybermen which look like someone dressed in silver pyjamas covered with tin foil with a lack of strength, firepower, armour, not looking intimidating or having the facilities to covert millions.
Classic Cybermen, as you say, arent invinsable but New seires arent either. Classic Cybermen are strong (watch Attack of the Cybermen) they have weapons, or "fire power" as you call it. And Classics have millions of them.
Im tried of these arguments about this video, idiots like you keep coming up with really stupid arguments that I have already covered so this shall be my last argument as talking to you is like talking to a brick wall. So for the last time. New cybermen are so much better because they come in greater numbers have powerful built in weapons (which the enemy can't steal and use against them), they covert people quicker, are much stronger and suit the modern doctor who, unlike the crap old ones.
Wow isn't that impressive you were able to both count and put together 3 basic words, your parents must be so proud of you! Listen dipshit if theres anything we've learnt from this argument is that it is you who are the idiot. You have both the intellectual properties of a toddler eating a turd; I bet you cant even remember how the humpty dumpty poem goes idiot! You need to go back to school and as I said before get some English lessons immediately!
Part 1: You nearly redeemed yourself to a year one education until up dropped the stupid line of calling me not a doctor who fan, You must be right of course.... accept I've watched every episode of doctor who episode (including the remakes of the lost episodes), I've got most of the classic episodes on DVD and video aswel as having all of the new episodes on DVD, I've got virtually every single of the doctor who figures that have come out (both new and old),
Part2: shelves upon shelves of doctor who merchandise that has filled my room and most of the house (virtually every doctor who item that who can buy) and I also have every single RC from the doctor who lines and I love the doctor who episodes to bits. Are you sure I'm definitely not a fan? Next time think about your comments before you write them down and by the way the humpty dumpty question was a rhetorical.
The only reason that the old type cybermen had their own planet and had higher numbers was because it took them so long to do so and everyone was on board with the idea of a longer life for their dying species, the new cybermen were just starting out, but are moving at a much faster rate in comparison, 6000 new cybermen were made in a few hours in one city, far quicker aswel as the chilling fact that the human race isn't dying out and that this process is being done against their will :P
It was not supposed to be smart it was merely a vehicle that the cybermen used to cause chaos and destruction in London. It couldn't have been any better made as the cybermen had to construct it from primitive technology and it had to be fuelled by coal. Although the technology was old fashioned the weapons on it were very well done and it could destroy whole streets with a single blast. This machine was also capable of converting millions. Its far more effective than the stupid cyberships.
You obviously don't understand what I'm saying, I couldn't careless about about the story behind it, I'm saying that it was a shit idea from a writing stand point. I understand that it was clever technologically, but in terms of character Cybermen wouldn't use big robots. Kit Pedler would be turning in his grave if he could see what they've done to his creations.
How can you say that the cyberking was awful! It was one of the cybermens best pieces of work with the technology available. It was so cool when it crushed all before it, flattening factories and blowing up streets. I do agree with you on the cybershades. They were a bit stupid and had no weapons, but the cybermen were down on power and parts. The cybershades were converted pets like dogs and cats so they are bound to be stupid and the cybermen only used them to frighten and chase after people.
The Cyberking was stupid! It looked like something that belonged to Transformers or Power Rangers! It was a dopey Cyberman robot which should never have seen the light of day in my opinion.
I hate to break it to you that the weapons in the 1960's were crap compared to the weapons today. The army were using weapons that could take out tanks on the cybermen and even so only one cyberman was destroyed. You also forget that these cybermen had to be spread out across the world 5million cybermen against 6 billion people, not fair, but they still took control. The invasion ones were concentrated into one spot. The new cybermen are much stronger and better armed than the ones in invasion.
This isn't going anywhere, we should just agree to disagree, you like the parallel Cybermen while I prefer the real, proper Cybermen. Although I must say that the classic Cybermen have had far better stories than the parallel ones, not even mentioning the crappy Cyber -Shades who were pathetic and pointless and Cyberking that was bloody awful.
Your missing the point as it stated in the tenth planet the cybermen have no emotion and they also stated that the only organic thing in them was there brain but with all of there emotions (or weaknesses, as they call it) removed. The new cybermen have sped up this process, so they can convert people a lot quicker. The old cybermen had the numbers against them, the new cybus cybermen don't have this problem. This makes them far superior and the new cybermen are better armed and stronger.
I suggest you watch Tenth Planet again as they say something along the lines of "Our brains are just like yours but we have removed certain weaknesses" they never say that the only organic thing was their brain, that would make no sense as they still have human hands. And they aren't stronger, they got their ass handed to them by the army and the Daleks. The Invasion Cybermen lasted a lot longer against UNIT and grenades etc had little effect unlike their parallel counterparts.
What are you on about the new cybermen are far more chilling. They can take over your mind, make you walk like lambs to the slaughter and convert you against your will. This makes them more chilling than ever. Cybermen are supposed to be emotionless and the only thing that is truly heart less are machines. When cybus cybermen upgrade you, you become uniform and have no other thoughts apart from upgrading people, making them very frightening. The classic cybermen had way too much emotion showing.
But the "real" Cybermen could all of what you've listed above. And saying "only thing that is truly heart less are machines" contradicts what the Cybermen are about! They are humanoids who replace thieir parts they shouldn't simply be cluncky robots!
A Good review but you ruined it at the end when you put the original cyberman on top of the latest cybus cyberleader. The new cybus cyberman are far superior. They are stronger are more resilient to enemy fire, have better and more powerful weapons and the new cybermen upgrade people a lot faster making them more frightening. Not to mention the new cybermen have much better voices, more computerised.
I personally find that the Classic Cybermen are the superior creation in terms of history and characterisation. The new Cybermen can simply be classed as metal suits with a brain inside it, where as the originals augmented themselves gradually carfeully removing their original form, which I find far more chilling. I'm not keen on the new voices either nor there rediculous catch phrases of "Upgrade" and "Delete" it seems as if they're Dalek wannanbes. I think the design is too robotic to the 80s.
But the whole idea of the Cybermen is that they are humanoids who have replaced bits and pieces of their bodies, augmenting them to metal and plastic. Its such a better idea than "lets pull your brain out and stick in a suit so you can repeat a stupid catchphrase repeatedly"! LOL!
i know but if they replace body parts with cybernetics steel plastic glass wire mesh tubing weponry electrons exoskeleton and a voice box and then they forgot to put death electrons and articulated armour on the hands? oh well still cool figures!
I read in Doctor Who Magazine in the 1982issue Someone asked Matrix Data Banks why the TP cybermen were changed and it answered because part of it did not fit the actor right. Even the ones from
on Earthshock the cybermen have see-through mouths and you can see the actor's mouths through it! that would look well cool as a figure with a transparent mouth! I hope they make another cyberman wave which you build something else!
i thought you werent gonna do another for a while but that was great, you know it would hav been better if in the episode they had gloves it looks really funny.
I agree, The Tenth Planet Cyberman is really cool, when I get an Invasion Cyberman, I'm going to paint it's rods black to make a custom of the Classic Cyber Leader from Revenge of the Cybermen, even though the rods are a little different to the ones from the Revenge Cybermen, but still great video :)
I only want the "The Invasion" Cyberman. They were the best looking out of all of them. Mix the voices of the new series cybermen with the looks of the "The Invasion" cybermen and you have the ULTIMATE cyberman. WOOOH!
hay just to tell u i got some info from one of my doctor who info guys or watever he said the cyber controller is really bad casue its snacth and that casue they had not made them in time and most of them were a rust job just to let u know
Those Cybers are kinda freaky looking!

Similarly, I showed 'Ressurection' to a 6 year old and a 12 year old: BOTH terrified.
Haha. >: D
TENTH PLANET cybers are far scarier mind.

Cybermrchew 2 years ago
Just to add to this little war of words.... In my opinion and for their time the classic series 60's Cybermen are far better then the new ones. Though i disagree with bat when he say the only good new cyberman appearnence is in Dalek as that's a very rubbish head from the classic series. The new cybermen are good too. They are still scary and they are sure to scare the youngsters.
rentboy182 2 years ago
You wouldnt be able to get close enough to cause any damage; it would see you and kill you on sight. When the new cybermen need units fast they sometimes upgrade the entire body which is very similar to what they did in Attack of the cybermen only faster. Tomb is probably the best classic episode but I prefer the new cybermen a lot more. As you said previously before mouthing off the cyberking we should agree to disagree. This conversation has gone on too long its 5 pages altogether.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
But if it had only one arm it would still have slight difficulty in trying to apprehend somone in the heat of battle. But as you say we should agre to disagree.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
Have you noticed that you only saw a couple of people be converted by the old rubbish cybermen were as you actually see the new cybus cybermen upgrading people. This makes them far more frightening than ever before. And the fact that some cybermen can remember who they were and still continue to act like a normal cyberman without emotion shows how powerful over people the new cybermen are. It shows that the emotional inhibiter is doing its job absolutely fine.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
I like the fact that the conversion process isn't fully explored, it leaves more to the viewers imagination. Attack gives a little bit of insight by showing the human remains under the metal which I think is scarier than just being a brain. But the emotional inhibitor can be easily by passed resulting in the destruction of all Cybusmen. Our Cybermen don't have this problem as they use mind altering drugs and surgically removed these areas of the brain.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
Tomb is nowhere near as good rise. Cybus cybermen are not stupid even if you had the tools to cut off its arm it would shoot you from a mile away and if you sneaked up behind it, it would kill you via electrocution or use its brute force. And even if you did manage to get its arm off somehow it is still pretty strong, it still has its electroshock, it could pick up another weapon or it could go back to the factory and have its arm replaced very easily like machines.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
You must be out of your mind to say that Rise is better than Tomb. They aren't even in the same league! Tomb is a masterpiece! The Cybermen coming out of hibernation is extremely impressive even today, something that I have tried to reflect in my most recent videos. Also, in the heat of battle its unlikely that a one armed Cybusman would do much, going back to get it's arm fixed would be out of the question, and unless it picked up ahuman weapon it would be quite open to attack.

Cybermrchew 2 years ago
I never said that they were complicated. I said they overcomplicate things by having two different speices of Cybermen. How can you unrealistic storylines? It's science fiction, it's not supposed to be completely realistic. And I again bring up classic stories such as "Tomb of the Cybermen, Earthshock, The Moonbase, The Invasion" all brilliant stories! The new ones to hold a candle to the quality of stories there. Any real Doctor Who fan with any sense would agree. "Tomb" beats "Rise" easily.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
Bazookas and grenades could stop the old cybermen but the new cybermen would be unaffected. Some of their steel plates would be damaged and a bit blackened but the cyber unit would still be functional. An antitank round would destroy a new cyber unit though. When the people are upgraded and turned into cybusmen they have there memories erased and they are surgically inhibited from feeling emotions much like the old cybermen so stop making up rubbish.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
You obviously don't pay attention to what goes on do you. The Cybusman that was Jacqui Tyler remembered who it was, as did the one who remembered her wedding and Hartmen at Torchwood. So their memories aren't erased! Lytonn couldn't remeber who the Doctor was as the drugs the real Cybermen used were wiping his mind.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
As I said previously lasers and machine guns have no effect on the cybermen. With machine guns against the new cybermen you can see the bullets bouncing off were as lasers against the old cybermen was a case of a very crapy special effect and the cybermen just standing there. The only lasers that effected the old cybermen were there own guns, which repeatedly got used against them. The new cybermen have inbuilt weapons and do not suffer from this design floor.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
You're missing the point. You stated a present day machine gun was better than futuristic technology which is rediculous. It is also spelt flaw not floor. And their inbuilt weapons can also be classed as a design flaw, if you cut it's right arm off or blew it off it would be buggered as the only effective long range weapon it had is now gone.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
I highly doubt that the new cybus cybermen have been totally wiped out. As you said previously they will find a way around it. But I am grad that they developed a new type of cyberman, the old ones that kept reappearing and eventually they became quite boring. When the doctor who team revived Dr who they imagined a brand new type of cybermen for the 21st centaury. They definitely have imaginations as if they brought back the old cybermen that would be predictable and boring.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
Its doubtful we'll see Cybusmen under Moffat's reign, probably the real ones instead. And how can you say seeing the old Cybermen come back was boring! That's like saying the past four years of Doctor Who has been crap because the Daleks have been in every series! Which I have to say, they've been used too much and need a little break. The new Cybus was to get around the complicted Cyber history, but they've overcomplicated it with a new race. So far the only good Cyber appearance was in "Dalek"
batmanmarch 2 years ago
You keep down playing the new cybermen saying their rubbish because they cant build crapy spaceships...bla bla bla... The new cybermen are only just evolving they dont have time to build space ships when they already have people on their world waiting to be upgraded. When they do need to take over a capital fast they have three options. Hypnotize the local population and make them walk into the conversion factories, use a cyberking or just use their vast numbers to scare the population.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
Well they can't do any of the above options because they've been wiped out. It doesn't say much for them does it. Creating parallel Cybermen when there were already Cybermen in our universe was a stupid idea. And I think the production team can see that now as RTD has got rid of them.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
The laser guns and machine guns have the same effect on the cybermen, so to be honest I would prefer the machine gun as you could see were the bullets were hitting. If you were holding a laser gun you dont know were you are hitting and you look a prick from a star treck convention. The invasion cybermen got repeatedly destroyed by grenades and bazooka fire. This wouldnt even dint the steel plates on the new cybermen so they do last longer than the old cybermen.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
Have you even watched Earthshock? A laser beam comes out of the end of the gun and hits the target, so of course you can see what you are hitting! And by saying "you look a prick from a star treck convention" shows you know little of Doctor Who. They use that weaponary all of the time, so you are basically saying that a TV show that you watch is shit. I'll grant bazookas stopped Cybermen, but then again I wouldn't be suprised if this would damage a Cybusman.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
As you said before repeating your point does not make a valid argument, the new cybermen have to stomp around as they are made from steel instead of shit looking costumes that looked unrealistic and had not a chance in hell of standing up to enemy fire. You could destroy a cyberman by using a gold tipped arrow, they were total shit, if you were armed with that you wouldnt stand a chance with todays cybermen because they have better armor and they are not so fatally floored.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
You must remeber classic Who was for people who had imaginations. The silver overalls was not inteded to be that, but highly sophisticated maleable, light weight and strrong armour. Yes Gold kills Cybermen, but then again as long as you type a code into a computer and stick a mirror in front of a Cybusman it explodes! The real CYbermen actually removed your memories with drugs and surgery so they don't have this as a problem.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
You say that the old cybermen have excellent amour, utter crap. Dont worry well stand up to the grenades and machine guns wearing spray painted silver pyjamas and stupid looking and unrealistic tin foil. The old cybermen were venerable to gold, come on! All you have to do is rub a gold medal on its breathing unit and it will die. If you tried to do that with a new cybermen it would look at you blankly and heartlessly kill you. The old cybermen were made of foil because of the BBCs budget.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
Again, they never wore tin foil. They wore flight simulator suits in the latter years. The woman who designed the Cybermen originally has previously said that out of the designs, the 80's was the best. Even David Tennant thought they looked good compared to the new ones. And to be fair, think how close you'd need to be to rub the gold into a Cyberman's chest. You'd be shot or have your arm ripped off before you could stick it into a Cyberman. Prime example of this is in "Revenge".
batmanmarch 2 years ago
And by the way it is you sir that is talking absolute nonsense! The weapons in the future are shit you would be far better off with a machine gun as at least you could see were you were hitting. You say that the new cybermen cant stand up to antitank rounds, thats true but the old cybermen from invasion couldnt even stand up to primitive grenades. As I said before the cybermen need information so they need to use old technology as they are only just evolving and info is important in battle.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
Are you out of your mind! How can a machine gun of 2009 be better than a weapon thousands of years in the future! Repeating your already stupid statment does not make a valid argument! Its just absurd! It's like saying a bow and arrow is better than a machine gun! The Invasion Cybermen were able to stand up to grenades, they fell over and got up again. That was all.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
You call the new cybermen hopeless, they are not hopeless they have only being evolving for a couple of years and they are made from current earth technology if you want to compare them, compare them to the very first cybermen and the new cybus cybermen win every time. They have better weapons, they are stronger and they are immune to radiation. The new cybermen are the real cybermen. The new cybermen are more powerful than before and they can get their numbers up faster.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
The Tenth Planet Cybermen were still extremely strong (able to bend a machine gun) and had space travel technology. The new Cybermen can't be better as they have all been wiped out! Very easily as well. It's given Moffat a clean slate so that he can go back and use the much prefered real Cybermen i.e the Mondasian/ Telosian version. Moffat himself has stated that he would like to bring back the original silent, shadowy killers likened to the Troughton era, rather than stomping about.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
And another thing you were saying that the weapons in earthshock couldnt destroy the cybermen, thats because those lasers have about the same as machine guns. Machine guns cannot destroy any cybermen so I dont know what you are on about; anti tank missiles are more powerful any day. You may say that an old cannon is old fashioned but it can still kill you any day, its the same principle. The old cybermen have had 1000s of years to evolve and they are still not as good as todays cybermen.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
You are talking nonsense! How on earth could a weapon from thousands of years in the future, be the equivalent to a present day machine gun! You are making no sense! Granted they used anti tank rockets, but real Cybermen could stand up to it. They would sustain damage obviously, but not fatal. And the real Cybermen are still going in our universe, where as it has been said that the Cybusmen are all but destroyed from the void collapsing etc. No doubt this was to get aound RTD creating them.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
The new cybermen are far more realistic than the older cybermen for example the old cybermen were made from tin foil which cannot stand up to machine gun fire were as steel plates can. And by the way the daleks are far more advanced than any type of cybermen, they have built whole planets made from dalekanium, which has an engine at its heart and could destroy the TARDIS itself, the dalek crucible. Plus the daleks once took over earth and tried to mine out the earths magnetic core.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
You obviously have little if any knowledge regarding the classic series. The Cybermen were never made of foil, and they could stand up against machine guns with ease. The real Cybermen see steel as an antiquated metal, with a Cybergun being able to blow open a Cybusman easilly. They don't need to be big and clunky to be strong either. The real Cybes are more streamlined, perfect for stealth and warfare.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
You forget the ones on the parallel earth are only just evolving, what makes them more frightening than the old cybermen is that they have evolved from our technology and as we get more and more advanced technology we get closer to being like them. Any way when the cybermen were down on power they needed primitive technology to update themselves so its quite useful that they can use inferior devices to get more in formation, this is why the new cybermen are superior to the old cocky cybermen.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
But the real Cybermen don't need to use primitive technology! They are so more advanced that it just wouldn't work. They could use it, but there would be little point. The Cybusmen stole half of their stuff from the Daleks because they were hopeless!
batmanmarch 2 years ago
The new cybermen last a hell of a lot longer than the old cybermen that were wearing silver pyjamas and as I said before the army were using weapons that could take out tanks on the cybermen. The earpods can control the whole population of earth, send them to be upgraded and if you take them off your brain gets fried. And by the way that company logo can access any computerised device thats much better than exposed breathing apparatus that can easily get clogged by gold and choke them.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
You keep saying that about the weapons, but what about Earthsock and Silver Nemesis? The soldiers in Earthschock had highly advanced weaponry, thousands of years ahead of what we've got now. They couldn't stop Cybermen with them. So it's safe to say that our tech would be hopeless against the real Cybermen. Another way to back this up is in Silver Nemesis. Granted the weapons the Neo-Nazis used are old up till now but they didn't work on Cybermen.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
Plus the Cybermen don't need to plug themselves in to Earth technology. They are far beyond it. As the Cyber Leader would say. "Earth technology is primitive compared to ours", and that is thounds of years in the future. Our current technology must be like rubbing sticks together to make fire from their point of view. Bear in mind, this is a race that replaced the core of their planet with an engine, able to pilot it anywhere! Not even the Daleks could do that!
batmanmarch 2 years ago
Thats because the invasion cybermen were made from painted silver clothing and silver wellies. The new cybermen are supposed to be made of steel and in case you don't know steel is quite heavy. The old cybermen had rubbish weaponry and they kept getting shot by their own guns because unlike the new cybermen (whose weapons are built in) they always carried their guns and they kept getting nicked. The new cybermen have weapons such as retractable lasers, electroshock or just brute force.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
Made of steel or not the new ones still got blown to pieces repeatedly and makes a mockery of the phrase "We will survive". You sure will as long as you aren't Cybus! The classic Cybermen have all of the above, electroshock, which can be fired from great distances and brute strength. They also have far greater mind control capabilities as they didn't need bits of plastic to stick in your ears, they could be rooms away and still take over you. Also, they didn't have stupid "C"'s on their chest!
batmanmarch 2 years ago
The three new series Cybermen stories were crap. The classics have had excellent stories, Tomb of the Cybermen, which is ranked as one of the greatest stories of all time. Earthshock, The Moonbase, The Invasion and to a degree Revenge of the Cybermen. You seem to keep going on about the Cybermen being low on power, thus creating the Cyberking, which is a rather majestic title for creatures with no emotion Controller on the other hand is far more mechanical.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
The classic Cybermen had better weaponry as they had alien technology at their disposal from centuries of galactic conquest. They're creepier from their silent, stalking nature of the Troughton era unlike the stomping we have today.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
There is nothing wrong with the story and there have been plenty of very poor classic cybermen stories that are just awful and stupid. Besides the cybermen needed to use the cyberking as they were low on power and they needed to take over a capital fast then convert people to build up their strength. You said previously that the new cybermen are chunky robots, if they didn't build the cyberking they would be boring and predictable if they just started upgrading people with no real plan.

OK, then. Tell me how New series ones are better. I bet David Tennant is your favourite Doctor too. And you won't watch the show when Matt Smith is the Doctor.
daleksfearthewhovian 2 years ago
Firstly David tenant wasn't my favourite doctor, he played it well although I preferred it when Christopher Eccleston and Tom Baker when they played the doctor role and for your information I will continue to watch doctor who episodes when the new doctor steps in as it will be interesting to see how he makes the role his. If you had an attention span and can read you may also want to direct your attention on why the new cybermen are better than the old by viewing some of my older paragraphs.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
Just viewed them, it proves nothing "Oh they have stronger metal, so they are better" New series Cybermen are complete and utter RUBBISH! Classic Cybermen are spooky, effective and are good enemies. These new series Cybermen are basicly robots.
daleksfearthewhovian 2 years ago
I'd rather have a cold logical and cunning cyberman (or a robot as you call them) with virtual invulnerability, intense strength, awesome fire power and larger numbers any day when compared to the classic cybermen which look like someone dressed in silver pyjamas covered with tin foil with a lack of strength, firepower, armour, not looking intimidating or having the facilities to covert millions.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
Classic Cybermen, as you say, arent invinsable but New seires arent either. Classic Cybermen are strong (watch Attack of the Cybermen) they have weapons, or "fire power" as you call it. And Classics have millions of them.
daleksfearthewhovian 2 years ago
Im tried of these arguments about this video, idiots like you keep coming up with really stupid arguments that I have already covered so this shall be my last argument as talking to you is like talking to a brick wall. So for the last time. New cybermen are so much better because they come in greater numbers have powerful built in weapons (which the enemy can't steal and use against them), they covert people quicker, are much stronger and suit the modern doctor who, unlike the crap old ones.

They don't come in greater number though haha old ones had their own planet....Mondas :P
Therefore had millions more than the alternate universe of cybermen just an assumption but most definately true :P
julidog1000 2 years ago
The only reason that the old type cybermen had their own planet and had higher numbers was because it took them so long to do so and everyone was on board with the idea of a longer life for their dying species, the new cybermen were just starting out, but are moving at a much faster rate in comparison, 6000 new cybermen were made in a few hours in one city, far quicker aswel as the chilling fact that the human race isn't dying out and that this process is being done against their will :P
Cybermrchew 1 year ago
It was not supposed to be smart it was merely a vehicle that the cybermen used to cause chaos and destruction in London. It couldn't have been any better made as the cybermen had to construct it from primitive technology and it had to be fuelled by coal. Although the technology was old fashioned the weapons on it were very well done and it could destroy whole streets with a single blast. This machine was also capable of converting millions. Its far more effective than the stupid cyberships.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
You obviously don't understand what I'm saying, I couldn't careless about about the story behind it, I'm saying that it was a shit idea from a writing stand point. I understand that it was clever technologically, but in terms of character Cybermen wouldn't use big robots. Kit Pedler would be turning in his grave if he could see what they've done to his creations.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
How can you say that the cyberking was awful! It was one of the cybermens best pieces of work with the technology available. It was so cool when it crushed all before it, flattening factories and blowing up streets. I do agree with you on the cybershades. They were a bit stupid and had no weapons, but the cybermen were down on power and parts. The cybershades were converted pets like dogs and cats so they are bound to be stupid and the cybermen only used them to frighten and chase after people.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
The Cyberking was stupid! It looked like something that belonged to Transformers or Power Rangers! It was a dopey Cyberman robot which should never have seen the light of day in my opinion.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
I hate to break it to you that the weapons in the 1960's were crap compared to the weapons today. The army were using weapons that could take out tanks on the cybermen and even so only one cyberman was destroyed. You also forget that these cybermen had to be spread out across the world 5million cybermen against 6 billion people, not fair, but they still took control. The invasion ones were concentrated into one spot. The new cybermen are much stronger and better armed than the ones in invasion.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
This isn't going anywhere, we should just agree to disagree, you like the parallel Cybermen while I prefer the real, proper Cybermen. Although I must say that the classic Cybermen have had far better stories than the parallel ones, not even mentioning the crappy Cyber -Shades who were pathetic and pointless and Cyberking that was bloody awful.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
Your missing the point as it stated in the tenth planet the cybermen have no emotion and they also stated that the only organic thing in them was there brain but with all of there emotions (or weaknesses, as they call it) removed. The new cybermen have sped up this process, so they can convert people a lot quicker. The old cybermen had the numbers against them, the new cybus cybermen don't have this problem. This makes them far superior and the new cybermen are better armed and stronger.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
I suggest you watch Tenth Planet again as they say something along the lines of "Our brains are just like yours but we have removed certain weaknesses" they never say that the only organic thing was their brain, that would make no sense as they still have human hands. And they aren't stronger, they got their ass handed to them by the army and the Daleks. The Invasion Cybermen lasted a lot longer against UNIT and grenades etc had little effect unlike their parallel counterparts.
batmanmarch 2 years ago
What are you on about the new cybermen are far more chilling. They can take over your mind, make you walk like lambs to the slaughter and convert you against your will. This makes them more chilling than ever. Cybermen are supposed to be emotionless and the only thing that is truly heart less are machines. When cybus cybermen upgrade you, you become uniform and have no other thoughts apart from upgrading people, making them very frightening. The classic cybermen had way too much emotion showing.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
But the "real" Cybermen could all of what you've listed above. And saying "only thing that is truly heart less are machines" contradicts what the Cybermen are about! They are humanoids who replace thieir parts they shouldn't simply be cluncky robots!
batmanmarch 2 years ago
A Good review but you ruined it at the end when you put the original cyberman on top of the latest cybus cyberleader. The new cybus cyberman are far superior. They are stronger are more resilient to enemy fire, have better and more powerful weapons and the new cybermen upgrade people a lot faster making them more frightening. Not to mention the new cybermen have much better voices, more computerised.
Cybermrchew 2 years ago
I personally find that the Classic Cybermen are the superior creation in terms of history and characterisation. The new Cybermen can simply be classed as metal suits with a brain inside it, where as the originals augmented themselves gradually carfeully removing their original form, which I find far more chilling. I'm not keen on the new voices either nor there rediculous catch phrases of "Upgrade" and "Delete" it seems as if they're Dalek wannanbes. I think the design is too robotic to the 80s.

Thanks, The TP Cyberman is excellent!
batmanmarch 3 years ago
I read in Doctor Who Magazine in the 1982issue Someone asked Matrix Data Banks why the TP cybermen were changed and it answered because part of it did not fit the actor right. Even the ones from

Wow !, your pretty lucky to have these two.
I like "The Tenth Planet" Cyberman (they talk funny!)
But my personal favorite has to be the Cybermen from "Earthshock" with the 5th Doctor.
ConningPictures 3 years ago
on Earthshock the cybermen have see-through mouths and you can see the actor's mouths through it! that would look well cool as a figure with a transparent mouth! I hope they make another cyberman wave which you build something else!
powerhousechipmunk23 3 years ago
I well agree !
I hope we see more in future...

Those came out because the producer at the time John Nathan Turner thad the them changed.

doctorwhoross 3 years ago
I think they're about £7.89 each. I had a gift voucher so it only cost me about a fiver for the two.
batmanmarch 3 years ago

batmanmarch 3 years ago

I agree, The Tenth Planet Cyberman is really cool, when I get an Invasion Cyberman, I'm going to paint it's rods black to make a custom of the Classic Cyber Leader from Revenge of the Cybermen, even though the rods are a little different to the ones from the Revenge Cybermen, but still great video :)
robmbms 3 years ago
Thanks! I love the Cybermen from Revenge. Its a shame we didn't get one of those.
batmanmarch 3 years ago
The Tenth Planet one has hands
LiverpoolEddie 3 years ago
Why make the old cyberman stand on the cyberleader? I love the cyberleader! LOL! Im getting one of the cybermen tommorow.
misswent1974 3 years ago
I only want the "The Invasion" Cyberman. They were the best looking out of all of them. Mix the voices of the new series cybermen with the looks of the "The Invasion" cybermen and you have the ULTIMATE cyberman. WOOOH!
