  • Haha, I love Stereolab!

  • 360k views!? these guys just became to mainstream for me.

  • This is from the 'Fluorescences' EP that came out in 1996 (I think?). Great EP. Also had other great tunes like "You Used to Call Me Sadness" and "Pinball" on it. I think all three of them are included on the 'Oscillons' triple-disc compilation album.

  • Probably my personal favorite Stereolab song. Just knocks me off my feet every time I hear it.

  • Is that Ayn Rand? Kidding.

  • This song is so rad. I don't care what anyone else thinks. I could listen to this all day.

  • @jacob7207 i like that you said rad.

  • Brings back memories of the 90's. Got a chance to see them live in San Diego before the loss of Mary Hanson.

  • What a song. Can't stop listening to it.

  • The girl with her eyes closed is probably the most attractive women I've seen.

  • @TheMadvillain84 That's Mary Hanson, I think, on backing vox

  • Probably my third post on this video - I can't even begin to express how important this song and video is to me and I found it first on this guy's page. Well done - this is a time capsule moment!

  • What album is this off of?

  • @nerhe07 I'm pretty sure it's included in "Oscillons From the Anti Sun" If you like this you might also like the songs "Flower called nowhere" and "Chemical Cords"

  • @nerhe07 the flourescences EP

  • tyler the creator said he loves this

  • @TheRolypolly i used to like tyler the creator

  • You either get it or you don't.

  • @ishiiny What about laetitia and the rest!! stereolab lives on!

  • @jose04811 this track was never included on any of the studio albums and was released as a stand alone e.p

  • what album is this from.

  • mary hansen was THE stereolab, like brian jones in rolling stones.

  • So Perfect!

  • stereolab por siempre!!!!! solo del reino unido salen bandotas como esta!!! dios salve a la reina!!!!

  • sterolab: past, present and future

  • Another band I forgot about and re-listening reminds me how good they were.

    RIP Mary Hansen.

  • don't like this music just because somebody named tyler likes it too. even pharrell.

if it sounds good then you enjoy it for your own reasons and not somebody elses.

  • they're on face time with those old ass computers...nice. that's what kind of international colouring contest i wanna be a part of

  • Tyler the Creator listens to these guys how sick is that

  • I love you Stereolab.. ;___;

  • WTF ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......beatles,bee gees, no a new WHY?

  • @MrSimpleFuc What?

  • 夢みたいな曲だなぁ...

  • What's up with the band using Hazeltine computers in there music videos. Pretty cool.

  • I discovered this track by chance when I was 12 years old watching TV in early hours of the morning. It blew my mind! That was about 16 years ago and It's still one of my favorite songs.

  • I have been into stereolab since more than a decade ago... these guys are one of the favorites for sure! (Its funny because I am primarily a progressive head, but these guys have their mathematical side... check out their song diagonals)

  • excelente cancion!!! de las mejores de stereolab

  • my favorite band.

  • so haunting and catchy , totally fabulous

  • this song makes me want to be in that scene from the sound of music when shes at the top of the hill running around and her dress is flowing in the breeze and.....im high.

  • @spaceboots86 Fortunately we can't witness you do Julie Andrews.

  • The Neptunes production team got alot of their style from this band you can hear it

  • French cafe, mmm...

  • lalalalala lalalalala lalalalala lalalalala

    pupe

    LA JOYA

  • Wow is this band fake or what! I bet they are not free thinkers but just act like it to flush certain elements of society from their hiding places.

  • sterolab at their, wonderful and majestic best!

  • Not even close to their best work Everything on Margerine Eclipse blows this out of the water.

Why is this so successful in comparison?

  • i was buying sterolab records-yes, records-in the days when they were selling from a flat somewhere in surrey, this is the best thing they have ever done and i feel privileged to have seen them (exeter cavern 1994?) when mary was still with them.

  • nobody harmonizes like Mary Hansen

  • Masterpiece.

  • if you don't like this song, you don't like music.

  • @Kinshasa9200 I don't like this song but I like several other songs

    what now

  • @Kinshasa9200 That's a stupid thing to say.

  • One of the best songs.

  • NOBODY, NOBODY, NOBODY harmonizes like Stereolab!!!!

  • I just found about about this band today and I'm wondering where have they been my whole life...

  • love this band so much

  • great song!!!! muy,muy buena je

  • The beginning percussion sounds like my impersonation of a fish tank!

  • Found them out on Meta Critic looking for a horrible song, and found a good one with bad ratings... IDK?

  • @jhetta22 no this isn't from dots and loops, its from an ep that shares the same name.

  • @MrRevenant1978 Yes, and the EP is well worth buying.

  • Wow, Beach Boys on dope! Love it!

  • @ramonster1972 haha; however, Brian Wilson was on mad dope, brosef, so even more apt.

  • i looked at the sun through filters

the hate it drove out lots of colours

took off high like a feather

blown to the ground on my shoulder

Just Brilliant !!! I love the echo backs that Mary did too

  • @jhetta22 I keep thinking this song is about synasthaethia...That's why I love it so grand.

  • Never seen this video before. Nice - & the song is of course perfect.

  • Never seen this video before. Nice - & the song is of course perfect.

  • Cool song, remember the great video song of Mellow, Another mellow winter.

  • What's Mary singing behind Laetitia at 1:08 and 2:00?

  • @MyNameIsNeutron At 2:00 it sounds like "This time I discovered / This is the emotor" but I'm not sure.

  • 完全にオリジナルなポップサウンドだね...すごいわこれ

  • My favorite Stereolab song. I think. Not an easy decision :)

  • @schoschie yeah it's tough! but I say if you're truly passionate about something, you have to pick a favorite.

PS-mine's 'rainbo conversation,' but this one is gorgeous too

  • was mary still around when this track was released?

  • @00dev yes she did the backing vox on this cd

  • There was definatly a time period I remember in Atlanta when Brit Pop had just hit big & some truly cool music was coming out, & I remember goin to this club in Atl. called MJQ Concorse, & I just remember hearin Stereolab for the 1st time & was hooked, so much evoking emotion in their music as well as just creating a really awesome sound

  • brilliant track & band, under-rated & overlooked but secretly I quite like that :-)

  • I just bought this EP with Emperor Ketchup last week, both are bloody fantastic! What makes Fluorescences so special is that I haven't bought a single or EP in 15 years.

  • Mary was 50% of the band for me. RIP

  • I love this song there is something very unique about it. Sounds like a song from the 1970's the video just adds a vintage touch with it's space modern looks.

  • this is my favorite song by them. i looooooooove it.

  • Great video and band, and about your name AmonRá, great idea i love history too.

  • @MarcelloEspindola

    My name is RAMON.

  • lol i have those glasses!!!

  • Go away, I'm alright

  • @sheatheman stereolab has been playing well before royksopp even picked up an instrument. if anyone's copying anyone it's the other way around.

  • @MrRevenant1978 Thank you for your restraint, that your outrage is at the notion, rather than the proporter.

  • they are copying royksopp.

  • @sheatheman

Really. They have a time machine?

  • i usually listen death metal/grind experimental music but this sounds kind of cool it's not trying to be overly cerebral by adding in as many odd time signatures as possible, it's happy but it's not so overly tacky and syrupy like owl city, or nevershoutnever, it's just nice and happy it's not overly pretentious it just does what it does, and does it well

  • -- there music and lyrics are like a soft, pulsing dream. The sense of many, many colors... Excellent^^

  • RIP Mary... T_T

  • SO! The imagery of her singing in the old computer... Totally influenced by Kraftwerk.. Damn good band! Go Stereolab! :)

  • Love you, you know that

  • I've been a fan of Stereolab for years and only last year heard the EP that this is on. This is one of their very best tunes, mellow horns, pristine production, and of course Laetetia and Mary's fantastic counter point vocals.

  • I looked at the sun through filters

A hit that drove out lots of colours

I took off high like a feather

Blown to the ground on my shoulder

  • Pardon the correction, but the second line is 'The hate it drove out, lots of colours.'

  • @dharmaseed: Thank you!

  • You fell Are you ok? Do you need a hand? I'm ok Let me go Go away I'm alright Leave me here Go back home I'm ok You just go

The leaving steps of a guilty sister

The other sound was the water

I leaned and looked into her river

    Thanks for the favour

    The world little sister(?)

  • I'm ok I feel good I can breathe Fill my soul I'm ok Feeling good Why do i Swim in blood I looked at the sun through filters A hit that drove out lots of colours I took off high like a feather Blown to the ground on my shoulder
  • Thanks for the favour

    The world little sister(?)

    I'm ok

    I feel good

    I can breathe

    Fill my soul

    I'm ok

    Feeling good

    Why do i

    Swim in blood?

  • I'm here cause I'm a long time fan (but wikipedia still rocks)

  • i discovered this because of Pharrell and his filacio music

  • wikipedia rules!

  • jesus christ r we all here cuz of wikipedia? haha

  • found them out on wikipedia, looked them up on youtube and will now go to isohunt. it's a very reliable system.

  • Heavy-handed copyright enforcement is definitely a drag, and I fully support open media, but I also fully believe artists should be compensated for their endeavors and creativity. Download some basics from IsoHunt, but also please support them by purchasing their records in realtime. Preferably on vinyl (sounds best, especially for a band like Stereolab!).

Even if you're buying used CD's at a record shop, it still helps keep the little guy going!

  • @AmmonRa801 Dude.. I would kill for some of Stereolab's albums on vinyl. Until then, you know what the deal is.

  • @AmmonRa801 specially if you goto gigs...

  • @AmmonRa801 Nope, buying it used won't help them at all.

  • @UnTabarnaco yup

  • @AmmonRa801 I don't buy CDs any more. I only ever download or buy vinyl.

  • @deadrexfelon

Don't listen to that other guy, don't let yourself buy anything if you can avoid it. Especially not fucking cultural products.

  • @deadrexfelon

    ROTFlmao

  • @deadrexfelon me too! random article button?

  • THANK YOU RANDOM ARTICLE BUTTON ON WIKIPEDIA!

  • haha i was JUST on wikipedia!!!!! Its funny, because i usually get sucked into other articles that differ from what i originally went to wikipedia for haha.

  • Wikipedia brought me here too.

  • Nice discovery. Thanks wikipedia :)

  • yeah!

  • @ Darksword and DMP.. Cool :) I wonder how many others might show up.

  • tonight, Wikipedia hosted this band on its front page. I will have to check this band out sometime. But what I listened to sounds great. I was big into synths in the 80s and would love to see that sound return with a younger vibe. Seed this message.

  • @bluevidcam lol same reason why im checking them out :P

  • @bluevidcam

Hah, that's funny, that's what brought me here too.

  • Is it ok for a black man to enjoy this group? The group was the 'article of the day' on my mobile wiki. I found this song nice to listen to.

  • I know right? How can they like the same music I listen to, and have people think they're cooler than me? Not fair. They can enjoy this? :(

  • This has to be my favourite Stereolab track, a really uplifting piece of music and perfect for driving with your windows down on a warm summers day.

Their best vocal performance as a groop? Whatever, i am sure i am not the only one who misses Mary Hansen and her beautiful voice.

  • Which album is this from?
