This is from the 'Fluorescences' EP that came out in 1996 (I think?). Great EP. Also had other great tunes like "You Used to Call Me Sadness" and "Pinball" on it. I think all three of them are included on the 'Oscillons' triple-disc compilation album.
Probably my third post on this video - I can't even begin to express how important this song and video is to me and I found it first on this guy's page. Well done - this is a time capsule moment!
@nerhe07 I'm pretty sure it's included in "Oscillons From the Anti Sun" If you like this you might also like the songs "Flower called nowhere" and "Chemical Cords"
I discovered this track by chance when I was 12 years old watching TV in early hours of the morning. It blew my mind! That was about 16 years ago and It's still one of my favorite songs.
I have been into stereolab since more than a decade ago... these guys are one of the favorites for sure! (Its funny because I am primarily a progressive head, but these guys have their mathematical side... check out their song diagonals)
this song makes me want to be in that scene from the sound of music when shes at the top of the hill running around and her dress is flowing in the breeze and.....im high.
i was buying sterolab records-yes, records-in the days when they were selling from a flat somewhere in surrey, this is the best thing they have ever done and i feel privileged to have seen them (exeter cavern 1994?) when mary was still with them.
@Regginyaga Word to the wise...never admit to ignorance. It was a formed opinion based on vast musical knowledge and an exquisite taste in music. You just made yourself look like an idiot...and I concur, "if you don't like this song, you don't like music."
There was definatly a time period I remember in Atlanta when Brit Pop had just hit big & some truly cool music was coming out, & I remember goin to this club in Atl. called MJQ Concorse, & I just remember hearin Stereolab for the 1st time & was hooked, so much evoking emotion in their music as well as just creating a really awesome sound
I just bought this EP with Emperor Ketchup last week, both are bloody fantastic! What makes Fluorescences so special is that I haven't bought a single or EP in 15 years.
I love this song there is something very unique about it. Sounds like a song from the 1970's the video just adds a vintage touch with it's space modern looks.
absolutely love this band, I'd only ever heard french disco and followed that up and so so glad that I have..oh yeah I'll be looking add the hard copy vinyl/cd great!
i usually listen death metal/grind experimental music but this sounds kind of cool it's not trying to be overly cerebral by adding in as many odd time signatures as possible, it's happy but it's not so overly tacky and syrupy like owl city, or nevershoutnever, it's just nice and happy it's not overly pretentious it just does what it does, and does it well
I've been a fan of Stereolab for years and only last year heard the EP that this is on. This is one of their very best tunes, mellow horns, pristine production, and of course Laetetia and Mary's fantastic counter point vocals.
I'm ok I feel good I can breathe Fill my soul I'm ok Feeling good Why do i Swim in blood I looked at the sun through filters A hit that drove out lots of colours I took off high like a feather Blown to the ground on my shoulder
Heavy-handed copyright enforcement is definitely a drag, and I fully support open media, but I also fully believe artists should be compensated for their endeavors and creativity.
