Thank you Sleeping Giant for showing this world that hardcore kids know what true worship is...To loss yourself in the Most High and not care what the world or the chuch thinks....Praise His Holy Name!!!!
Mormons believe their own 'good deeds' and 'good works' and 'good attire' will save them. Christians know that they are desperately wicked apart from God's grace and need a Savior.
The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good. -Psalm 14:1
You're right. "The fool" does say there is no God. One is equally foolish to assert that there is one.
I assert that there is no logical or reasonable explanation as to our existence, therefore I am not in a position to say "There is a God" or "There is no God". I understand that I do not know.
I am not certain of a book translated and transcribed over two thousand years. I am not certain of Jesus. The only thing I can, by all logic and reason be certain of is Jazz.
Simply by the nature of logic being absolute and eternal, we thus know that there exists an absolute and eternal mind in which this logic exists. Logic is a concept and all concepts reside in a mind. That mind is the Triune God.
To make such an assertion as yours, you must first know all the existing logical or reasonable evidence and then conclude it's not sufficient. That which you claim to be unknowable (knowledge of God's existence), you also claim to have based upon your assertion.
Honestly, my arguments have no ability to persuade you. The problem isn't evidence or logical or reasonable explanation. The problem is that the truth is veiled to you. No one can open your eyes other than the LORD.
"And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." -2 Corinthians 4:3-4
I'm glad you put "truth" in quotes, since what you are defining isn't truth.
What happens when my Truth says that your truth is a lie or your truth says that my truth is a lie? Then what is true?
Everyone would agree that there are certain things in life that are "relative truth" however, ultimately, Truth is absolute. Truth is not dependent on what you or I think or feel. Truth is truth.
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness & unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power & divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse." -Romans 1:18-20
"For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, & their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, & exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man & birds & animals & creeping things." -Romans 1:21-23
Truth is relative to its holder. What is true to me may not be true to you and vice versa. Despite this, it is still truth, despite its limited relevance to a specific person.
Yep. The Bible is a pretty swell book. I'll admit that. Its writers were very careful in making sure to cover every last crack.
Your quote, however is very generalizing. I don't think of myself as wise, and I'm also rather optimistic. (darkened...?) I just know who I am and what I can and cannot believe.
Though Hitler thought it was "true" or right to murder Jews, it wasn't right; it was absolutely and objectively wrong. Though many professing Christians think its "true" or right for them to live lives hypocritical to the teachings they profess to believe, doesn't mean it's right and true for them to do so.
Besides, you're statement "Truth is relative to its holder" is an absolute statement, and not a relative statement to you; you refuted yourself sir.
Exactly. I'm very aware that you disagree with me, and you're by all means, within your own body correct.
Hitler was by all means, within himself, correct, and so are radical Islamofascists. They are all right, within their own person.
The only roadblock lies between the individual and their society. Society is a rather powerful force, and I'm glad I live in a society where I'm not lynched from deviating from religious norms.
If statement A, and statement B are in direct opposition to one another, they cannot both be true in the same way at the same time. For example:
If you say, "my friend is pregnant" and I say, "your friend is not pregnant" we are not both right. One of us is absolutely right, and one of us is absolutely wrong. In such a case, what one thinks doesn't define what is actually true.
Just because you think God cannot be known doesn't mean it is true.
Again, you do not define truth. You observe truth. One can truly believe that jumping out of a plane that is one mile high & hitting the ground will not kill oneself; however, that person will die.
You can truly believe that you will never die; however, you will die.
You can truly believe that Jesus is not the only Savior; however, He is.
Truth is not dependent upon your perception of reality.
You can stand in court & swear to tell the truth, & truthfully lie & swear it's the truth.
Sure, I can jump out of a plane and die. A person may be pregnant. This is all relative to society. "Society's truth" the "Logical" truth, what we perceive.
I like how you decide to slip Jesus in right after making a logical statement. Nice try, but the acts of Jesus don't necessarily abide by logic.
By your logic, I could easily say that as the Bible was written and passed-down by man, and as man is naturally sinful, the Bible is tainted, and thus, its content is invalid.
"Again, you do not define truth. You observe truth."
By that statement, I can honestly say that I have never "observed" Jesus or God as Christians like to put it. I have, on the other hand, observed the wonders of Jazz, therefore I will believe in that. This is where *personal* truth sets in. What is true to you in a spiritual sense may not be (and by all means, is not) true to me, and vice versa. As I said before, You believe in Jesus, I believe in Jazz.
Now that I think about it more, I realize that there is no way I will get through to you.
So, I'll play Devil's (God's?) advocate and pretend your beliefs are the absolute truth.
If a God jealous in his own right decides to damn a man like me- a man he created of conscience and logic- a man who while abiding by Christian morals, refuses to take the Bible as truth- a book when logically scrutinized carries no proof, I'll face Hell, as the Devil will embrace God's outcasts with mercy
2: Yes, I have told lies, and I have been ashamed of them, not because they are sinful, but rather because they are counter-productive and socially frowned-upon in general.
3: Yes I *did*. I've recently realized however that such lust is a complete waste of mental time. While temporary, primitive human urges remain, I smite my ID with my Super-Ego and reason with myself as to why such urges are irrational.
1] I agree, He clearly hasn't. I also suppose, by your lack of desperation, that you don't truly desire for Him to show Himself to you. So, it appears as if He is giving you what you want--namely, a life without knowing Him & desiring Him. A wasted life, chasing after the fleeting pleasures of sin.
2] Thus you have not kept Christian morals. Also, "godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death." Your grief is worldly.
You won't be listening to jazz. You will be listening to your own weeping as well as others, & gnashing of your teeth as well as others.
I understanding that I am writing to a blind man who believes that he is god, and that he deems what is right and wrong, and who creates his own reality while suppressing the true reality. Why do you believe that you ultimately decide what reality and truth is? The Bible holds true; A fool does not recognize his own folly. 10 out of 10 die, you're included.
Its been nice talking to you, but I feel as though this is going nowhere.
I hope (honestly so) you live a happy life knowing whats coming, in your case eternal life in Heaven. I envy that matter, yet I cannot, under any circumstance, accept that as truth. When you understand why you reject all other Gods, you will understand why I reject yours.
I do understand why I reject other gods and accept God. All other gods are created by man, and are thus man-centered. The true God is God-centered. That's why people hate the Christian God; He's all about HIS own glory, not man's glory. That's 1 reason why you hate Him.
Ultimately, you do not want to be held accountable for every evil thought, word, and deed you have done. You are even to the point where you have made yourself believe that you're good and moral and following Christian morals.
It's been nice talking to you also. My mission is not to save people, for I cannot save people; rather, my mission is to proclaim the gospel of the grace of God. I appreciate that you have taken time to read & respond. I shall be praying that God open your eyes to behold His glory for no man can be persuaded by mere words unless Jesus Christ reveals Himself.
I plead with you to repent & believe the Gospel--that Christ was crucified for sin, He died, and resurrected 3 days later. Find joy in Him

You call yourself a man who is, "abiding by Christian morals." Define these Christian morals that you abide by.
Let's run through a few Christian morals:
1] Does anything in your life show that you love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength?
2] Have you ever told a lie?
3] Have you ever looked upon a woman (or man) as to lust after her (or him).
Lastly, your idea of Hell is quite Disney-esque. Hell is the eternal wrath of God, not Satan.
kyleotto44 2 years ago
1: No, as God has not shown himself to me.
