  • @adhockey99 Totally 100% agreed

  • Didn't this game give you options when it came to finding crew members? I remember reading that depending on the choices you made and how you handle things, your team mates could either be paranoid and try to kill you or stay calm and back you up.

  • @hunk84 yeah there was a trust mechanic that determined how loyal and stable your companions were

  • HAHA at the begining he uh uh uh wake up

  • I think that everybody agrees that this is really similar to dead space

  • @Alkatraz242 im pretty sure that this game came out way before dead space...and that dead space has a healthy influence from "the thing"

  • Comment removed

  • "I'M LOCKED, LOADED, AND READY TO MAKE SHIT DEAD!"

  • @00SaRResH "who talks like that!"

  • @newnickostudiosx lol The Thong.

  • Racoon city? is this resident evil LOL 1:31

  • These cutscenes are awsome.

  • They're flying at night with the temperture below Zero how odd.

  • Right now this is the only sequel to the 1982 the thong

  • Is a sad thing that with today's technology no game company has cared to complete the sequel to this game or at least do something set in the same universe (well, there's an online game but my low end Pc wont' run it). This game was awesome and I'm thankful I played it until the glorious end...

  • @KronnangDunn what about dead space? it seems pretty similar to me

  • This is one of the most underrated ps2 games of all time. It was an extremely fun and tense game.

  • This game was cool but had one problem. You could check your teammates blood like the movie but the changing sequences were scripted. You tested your partner's blood, he passed as human, then the next thing youknow he changed into a monster.

  • Comment removed

  • @KronnangDunn The review in PC gamer said the sequences were scripted. I read that review though after I played the game. You are so right about the rushing though, Call of Duty mentality I guess.

  • hahaha, i love the way they speak in the first cutscenes.

oh btw im norwegian and they say

    larsen larsen.

omg omg help me help me.

i cant get it but i thing he says. stay away stay away

and then they get killed :'D

  • im the only one that thinks about stephen kings the thing?

  • @Mr1gurra you mean IT?

  • @puppet23ca You wanna know the funny thing. When I first saw that movie when I was like 5 years old and saw the clown, I ran away screaming.

  • @Mr1gurra probably

  • Heres how the movies and games are in order:

    -The Thing 2011

    -The Thing 1982

    -The Thing (video game)

  • How is this game any way?

  • @MrXeno55 I;m a big fan of the movie and thought that this game was pretty well done for what it is.

  • 1 body? what happened to Mac at the end? from the 1983 w/e film he was right next to childs

  • They should remake this game, just like the 2011 movie, they're doing.

  • Is the storyline exactly like the movie or is it the expedition before the events of the movie?

  • @UltimateGamerTrainee takes place after the movie

  • @UltimateGamerTrainee this game take's place 20 year's after the first movie.

  • Bad norwegian, lol

  • They should remake this game

  • @jackxl53 definitely

  • I remember the part where the blood test shatters, scared the hell out of me when i first played it because both guys turned

  • Original: The Thing

    Sequel: The Thing

    Prequel: The Thing

Does this franchise have an aversion to changing the damn title?

  • @SergeantLuke Actually, the original was called The Thing From Another World

  • @clfxful Yes, but the remake of that movie was just called The Thing, and that's what this game and the new movie are sequels to.

  • @SergeantLuke the ORIGINAL movie was called The Thing From Another World, and was from 1951. get your fucking facts straight before you shat out of your mouth.

  • @captinretardo buddy jonh carpenters version was based on the book "who goes there" wich was written by jonh w cambell in 1938.....

  • @SergeantLuke stop wining its a great series well the movies anyway is the game good? and is it an option to have it in first person?

  • @thejonathan130 I'm not whining, I'm just making an observation. I think it's a great series as well.

    Yes, and no.

  • @SergeantLuke oh and to answer your question theirs the original book "who goes there" and the original movie made in the 60's i think called "The Thing FROM ANOTHER WORLD"

  • @SergeantLuke That's the whole thing. Pun intended.

  • @SergeantLuke The original was called The Thing From Another Planet. The monster was played by James

Arness, Marshall Dillon from the old show Gun Smoke.

  • @MrJihadJesus It was called The Thing From Another WORLD, and I was referring to the remake that this game is a sequel to.

  • @MrJihadJesus Wrong. The original is a novel called Who Goes There published in the 1930s. Then came the 1950s movie called The Thing from Another World, then the 1980s remake called The Thing, then the 2000s game called The Thing and finally the 2011 prequel to the 1980s remake, The Thing... Nuff' said...

  • @SergeantLuke Okay, let us all see your suggestions then...

  • @KronnangDunn I wasn't really mad or anything, I was just making an observation. But, if you must know, I will say that "The Thing Returns" and "The Thing Appears" would make pretty good titles in my opinion.

  • @SergeantLuke Part 4's gonna be called The Things, just to fuck with people.

Or The Thing 4: Thing Harder.

  • @SergeantLuke

    That's just their thing.

  • @SergeantLuke Was the first 2 "The Thing's" related beyond the fact that the creature is the Thing? Like, what was the theme of the original "The Thing"?

  • @dragonheart967 "The Thing" is a quasi-remake of the 1950s monster movie "The Thing from Another World". The Thing in that movie was just a generic bulky monster, a la Frankenstein's creature, but the one from the 80s remake was a inhumanoid horror that could turn itself into anything. This game was the sequel to the 80s movie, and the movie that came out back in August was a prequel.

Does that answer your question, or did I misunderstand?

  • @SergeantLuke I need to correct you on that. The 1982 "The Thing" is a remake of a 1950s movie but John Carpenter really adapted the story from a horror short story called Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell, Jr. I read the entire short story and in there is the whole scienfitic facts about what the monster is and its motives. You can find the story online and read it. It tells what happens after childs and Blair are left alone as well.

  • @SergeantLuke there are prequels and secuels ?

  • @NitooJackerarg ya newest movie made in 2011 is the prequel and this game is a sequel

  • @SergeantLuke Actually the original was titled "The Thing from another world" x3

  • @sumpmiffot The "original" I was referring to was the 1982 movie, a REMAKE of Thing from Another World.

  • @SergeantLuke Oh right, sorry. I noticed many people said the same thing I said. Sorry about that as well. Didn't mean to spam =P

  • @SergeantLuke

The 82 film is probably closer to the 30s book than the 51 film.

  • Why isnt collins riverdancing?

  • HD REMAKE?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • 6:20 Sergeant Johnson?

  • Blake?..BLAKE!?!.BLAAAKKE!!!!!!

only saying that cause he sounds like David Hayter/Snake from Metal Gear Solid

  • Snakes vs the Thing-Headcrab/half life ripoff creatures

  • @killernarwhal117 It's funny because John Carpenter's The Thing had the "headcrab" back in '82...

  • @MrThundergod94 lol whats?,didnt know that,thanks

  • the thingy

  • I was so mad that childs died that I shut the game off there. Depending on how the prequel goes later today, I may finally pick the game up again.

  • @thepatient08

I know. I read somewhere that Childs was supposed to live, but the actor who play him and was gonna voice him, Keith David, couldnt do it due to scheduling conflicts.

  • i dont know about you guys but this game was plane creepy. like even when you didnt see the thing, it was just wierd

  • @snake2006 dude they never do a blood test on mcgrady and you keep hearing a laugh throughout the game, he's probably the thing. Although i prefered the ending of the film before they brought the game into it

  • This game fucking sucks. I have it for PS2,Xbox and PC since I am such a big Thing fan.

It's bullshit, Child froze to death, McGrady is still human you see him at the end of the game. It doesn't match up,where did all the other things come from that attack you in the game, the Norway camp killed all the Things except for the Dog which went to Outpost 31. So if Mac and Childs were Human, then there would be no more things since Mac killed the rest of them.

  • @snake2006 If you played through the game you might get some answers... Like how to spell MacReady's name...

  • @MrThundergod94

I know I spelled Mac's name wrong. I realized it when I posted it.

And I have played through the entire game, I own it for PS2,Xbox and PC since I am a big thing fan, I have a collection of Thing merchandise, including the VHS,Laserdisc,DVD and Blu Ray of the film, I have the 51 movie on DVD and VHS. I have the action figures of the Blair monster and Norris Thing.

  • @MrThundergod94

Also there is many errors, such as Blair's ship being in tact when in the film it was blown to pieces.

The axe in the door is missing in the Norway camp, the door to the ice block room having to be unlocked via a code written on the wall is NOT in either movie. There is a body in Outpost 31 with it's guts hanging out in the game which is NOT in the movie.

Want more? There are tons of spider things and big things yet when Mac was there, there were no things.

    Game SUCKS.

  • holy shyt i remember playin this game when i was around 7 dam i got scared sooo easily lmao :P

  • Awesome game, could never beat the first boss you come up against though so I never beat it.

  • "...CHRIST."

  • 1 thing IS The Thing.

  • Probably one of the best games on the ps2

  • @jaylex666 I have the PC version when it first came out. Really cool game!

  • I've noticed you encounter a hellofva lot of characters. Too bad they all seem to come and go real quick. None of them acually stick with for long periods of time, not even the Dr. Faraday who's modeled after John Carpenter himself.

  • the game was completely awesome at the time !!

  • It's was 2002 it's looks great for it's time sand it might be fun

  • Wat a lame game

  • dude, you can't see nigger at 2:25

  • thats a bunch of blood taken during test

  • @mindfreak6661 it has a few glitches and the story is pretty basic but it delivers in other areas not a bad game in my opinion

  • @puppet23ca cool vid

  • @mindfreak6661 fuck you..this game rocked, just like the film

  • @dubleyhew13 he is a pussy thats why he hates this cause he is afraid of scary games and movies :P

  • @mindfreak6661 Actually it got above average reviews from most major video game websites.

  • @mindfreak6661 it was actully really good

  • 00:31 That the type of monster that rape people in the dark alleys of Cleveland!

  • 我卡在第8關了...不敢玩~.~

  • AHHHH help, its Mr Wilford Brimley trying to test his blood sugar because he thinks this guy has die-a-beetus!

  • Its kind of funny to hear my own language in a videogame tough :)

  • Looks like a GODDAMN ufo

    lol....

  • Epic they speak Noringlish. Norweagian + English(in the start)

  • The original Necromorphs

  • @TrippyScarecrow Lol, I saw the similarities.

  • @TrippyScarecrow exactly, dead space was based on the thing, loosely

  • this game freaked me out the first time i played it

  • They called this best horror game of 2002

  • i never understood what that creepy laugh was all about? and I played the whole game still not knowing what that was all about anyway

  • @jordan16195 Withely's laugh... you can listen the radio turns on... when Blake find the body

  • One if the best game that i ever played

  • love the voice of blake reminds me solid snake

  • @Fontoxx

Reminds me more of Chris Redfield.

  • @Taraka1 LOL, me too

  • @Fontoxx yea blake gives that Solid Snake vibe. Especially when he says, "The base is gone Colonel".

  • @Fontoxx the irony that Kurt played a character called snake pliskin and this guy 2:16 sounds just like the VO of liquid snake .

  • aww childs is dead

  • its a game man its non cannon lol

childs is very much alive according to john carpenter

  • Never got past the first boss

  • its easy there is a blind point where he cant hit you in one of the corners i think, and i hear from a friend that you can kill the 1st boss when you see him running (human form) in to the building
