  • where's the continuation to this??? aaaaaarrrgh!!! i'd never seen it and now i'm DYING to see owen's reaction!!!

  • I love this film! Thank you for posting it.

  • I love this movie.

  • Is it me or is the cymeterry scene a bit out of place? I know it's meant to foreshadow, but it just never made sense to me?

  • I always liked this movie, too bad it ended that way!

  • I never liked this ending [at all] --- So real but yet so disappointin-- Miss Wood and Mr Redford are so believable in this scene --- The mother is a devil but that was her role .....This is why this movie is so memorable --- A love story gone irretrievably bad ----and we didn't expect it . We wanted so much for this couple ---What a great film --but heartbreaking!

  • Those tears she could turn on! She was fabulous!

  • Oh yes. What a tender, authentic artist Ms. Wood was. I have been obsessed with tthis movie since I saw it about age 11. My mother has always been one to suggest a film and say, "oh the actors are so good in that movie." Thank you Mommy. I love this movie. I learn so much from it.

  • Owens color is green. Alva's is red. Slowly Alva's color begins to disappear. And Owen's green if everywhere. His office door, the apartment curtains, Alva's NOLA sweater, a tad of ALva's red near their sleeping area. Also, like the cat that comes out from the fence when Alva and Owen hug. So magical.

  • What I mean is when the cat appears in the NOLA scene; it represents when Owen asked Alva at the boarding house, did she know about the cat who woke up and didn't know if he was man dreaming he was a cat dreaming he was man. Ahh such is life.

  • Love their scenes of being in New Orleans..."waiting for you to come home..." Alva and Owen's honeymoon. Alva got married just not to Owen. She loves Owen. When the alarm goes off, that is soooooo tender. And Alva does tell owen, "do I." A backwards I do. Fitting for the events going on for them.

  • i remember the first time i watched this movie i cried at the end.

it is such a good movie

  • i wanna throw the mom out the door in this scene uugghhh everything would of been fine if she didint send her sister scout that letter with address on it AHHHH

  • LOL!! Her sister Willie...she weas Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird.

  • robert redford and natalie wood were really supposd to b together in real but she was soo obsessed with robert wagner and now shes dead, thats a true tragedy

  • natalie: absolute magic.

  • Such a sad story. Sidney Pollack was all the time so pessimistic on love relations. Never even one happy story. But always so touching and tender movies. Roberd Redford at his 30 was so gorgeous, as later on! Nathalie Wood, rest in peace.Thank you very much for posting.

  • Loved this movie the first time I saw it. Interesting characters, great story ... and Natalie Wood is just BEAutiful in this film. I was going to say 'she is freakin hot', but would that really be appropriate?

  • This is such a sad film :(

  • an innocent post card to Alva's sister, and her whore mongering mother found her happy and destroyed her life.

  • Ain't that the truth...good acting, 'cause I really hated that woman!

  • one of my very favorite movies..thanks for posting!

  • I don't like the ending, I condemned the mother, she was jealous, selfish, and most of all she left her other daughter alone... It would have been a happy ending without her.

  • That character of the mother was truly foul. A ghastly sense of humanty that character had.

  • One of the best movies ever made...and it's seldom mentioned. Natalie Wood is flawless. A true tragedy.

  • Yes. Flawless. Except when she is looking at the Globe in Owens boarding house room. She says fur lined gloves Like Cloves; instead of fur lined clothes.

And when she slips off the sink after arguing with her mom. Classic.

  • omg wat happens after this video?? can someone tell me?? wats the truth about alva?

    im dying to find out

  • Alva runs out into the pouring rain and gets a massive lung infection that she dies of. Her mother just takes off with someone else leaving her other daughter Willie all alone. Poor Owen Legate is never mentioned, but he probably was shellshocked over the revelations of that night.

  • I think Owen visited Alva in the hospital. But still yes he was probably not the same again. Maybe in another life they can be together in love again.

  • Well, a couple of outstanding acting performers. I feel that I have to search for the end of this film eventhough I was told it was a sad ending story.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • .....that's what I'm talking about...

can't wait for the day to end..

and find the arms at the end of the day...

    you rush to them...

that is how I felt the nite you were walking down the jetway...

I have always been told it was bad luck to watch out of site...so, I waited for you to stop and turn around...but, I could not watch out of site for made luck may come....had you turned around when I was looking...I'd be in your

    arms still...

  • My all-time favorite movie...I've seen it so many times...and I cry every time. These two are lovely together. LOVE the way she waits for him & runs to him when he gets off work...the ending is awful, yet I still find myself watching it over & over!

  • Robert Redford and Natalie Wood had great chemistry. Love them together in this film.
