  • Ruined it

  • marc almond is hot

  • Interesting cover version, I didn't know this existed. I've added it to my FB group dedicated to covers. It's called "the Guilty Pleasure of the Cover Version" Feel free to join in.

  • i love it. i love marc almond anyway, and tasty tim is FABULOUS!!!!!!!

it's a crying shame robert michael's gone.... but yeah, it's different, but

when marc collaborated with tasty tim, tim is a dj, so what kind of music could

they possibly do like marc's soft cell fame stuff that tim could be in?

    i don't see it.

  • They do have the early Eno look down pretty well, no?

  • @TonyBranston

I think that's deliberate. The guys on the keys is dressed exactly like Eno in the Roxy Music days

  • Wow, this.is.bad. And I like Marc Almond. It just doesn't have the raw sexuality to it like Eno's has and some other covers of this song I've heard. Too pop and clean and rated G for this song, me no likey. I gave it a try at least.

  • Eno killed himself after listening to this !!

  • fome, aburrido y demasiado plano para ser Almond...la base es repetitiva....como el culo man !

  • fome, aburrido y demasiado plano para ser Almond...la base es repetitiva....como el culo man !

  • I want that sweater.

  • crap. dull flat vocal and lame repetitive disco pop electro. i thought marc would do something so much deeper with this track.. zzzboring.

  • AWESOME COVER ,, .. HE IS A LIVING LEGEND ... CANT STOP LISTENING TO ANY THING FROM HIM

  • LOL the beginning is hilareous!

  • luv it!!!

  • i quite fancy marc almond, he is cute and quirky, i like his tunes

  • BRINGING 80S FAG DANCE BACK !

  • all you haters, SHADDAP YOU FACE

  • LOVE MARC & this video

  • I hate this. Long live the classics!

  • @declique i know.. it's awful.. but i love marc.. i truly do.. but this is crap.

  • can't stop listening to this

  • I love this, well hey its got Marc Almond in it nothing more to say and the base well it rocks ;P

    Robin

  • Nothing compares to the original. I like Marc Almond but this fails miserably.

  • lol marc. i love you man but you jumped the shark on this one.

  • epic wheird

  • My boyrfriend and I like this version of baby's on fire better. :) It's great, I absolutely love the opening with the guitar, and the upbeatness of it, and all the poses from Marc :D

  • sounds gay!

  • this is not supposed to be a happy poppy fucking tune

  • Tasty looking fine!

  • :: Thank you for uploading this Brian Eno cover, puremintmusic, & it's brilliant to see Mr. Almond having fully recovered from his near-fatal motorcycle accident. And how! Yoss ~ (•8-D

  • what a nightmare.

  • This is fantastic, my favourite Eno tune sung by my favourite singer, heaven!

  • I love, love, love Marc...:)

  • As camp as Julian Clary's teacakes, but MA is a great vocalist, no question!

  • who are the band t-total?who is the guy with the guitar?

  • @456japan - Hi, T-Total are/were an electro house production and remix duo based in London, made up of fabulous Tasty Tim (playing keys in the video) and Robert Michael (who sadly died on 1st March 2007 after a brave fight against cancer) - and who is playing guitar in the video.

They released many great records over the last 10 or so years, including remixes for Apollo 440 and the Pet Shop Boys amongst others. A full discography can be found at discogs.com

  • @456japan WHO GIVES A FUCK? MARC IS AMAZING

  • This hurts. Badly.

  • this is rad..

  • diddn't know this version and not even t-total...

    is quite cool!

i love almond and the brian eno's song!

    :)

  • too watered down for my taste

  • wow...please stop destroying Brian Eno's music. We all know he prides more in the music than the lyrics anyway so who the hell do you think you are Mr. Almond?!?!?

  • Marc los Más!!!!

  • Marc los más....

  • is this a cover of babys on fire by the venus in furs or this is the original song?

  • @ViioletGiirl07

Well first, Babys on Fire is a great tune by the mastermind Brian Eno (check out the original) which might be too noisy for ya, but it just phenomenal. It's a fucking beast really.

Second, this version is meh, it's not blasphemous, but Eno had more of a sneer in his singing that made it funnier. This just sounds like disco pop. Not awful, just done before.

  • thanks ;)

just listened to brian eno's version... his voice is kinda weird, but i like it :)

  • The original is Brian Eno...

  • I like that!

I greatly admore Marc, and I love Brian's work too.

  • it's nothing spectaculair but its also not bad (all a matter of tatse anyway!!)...i would bounce to it in a club! ;-)

  • I love Marc Almond's work with Soft Cell and even some of his solo stuff but this cover of "Baby's on Fire" does not work. The original takes all the elements of punk, glam-rock, and euro-synth pop and blends it into one brilliant homage. This bouncy remake sounds like outdated disco.

  • dope

  • marc is great whatever u say

  • hes not gay he s next gen man

  • I cant belive poeple think hes gay, Haters

  • OMG. I love Marc Almond but this has to be the worst thing I have ever heard.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Oh my god. I'd rather cry searing razor blades then hear this version again.

  • very nice...

  • Wow, this video is still just as agonizing to watch as it was the first time. I know what you people are like, considering what happened to my first comments - if someone dislikes something you like, thumb-down their comments like good little thought police to destroy any evidence of people disagreeing with your music taste - but try to rise your natural inclinations, eh? It's bad enough Eno has been rendered as sythpop so sugary, listening to it gives one diabetes concerns. Shame on all of you.

  • Oh, and, the first time I said this, puremintmusic sent me a smarmy little message asking what music or art *I* had done, to make myself feel worthy enough of saying that this video is as awful as, well, it is. If you must know, check out the band Lillian Gish on myspace. Or in fact The Dead Finks, playing among other things, Eno, on youtube. Or check out The Dogbones, who I managed until recently. Does that make me 'worthy'? Not that you need to be a musician to have an opinion, idiots.

  • @romeosdistress - your original comment was deleted because it was offensive. No problem with you disagreeing with 'music taste' - just with leaving deliberately inflammatory and antagonistic comments. And why do you keep coming back here to make further comments if you find it so unappealing? That says more about you than any comment you leave here.

  • I'd rather think of my comments as provocative - hopefully of discussion, rather than receiving thumbs-down for my opinion, which is what I received. My further commenting was more in response to your question of what I have done which puts me in a position to comment on others' music and the reply is quite a bit, though I took pretty great offense to your implication that, were I a "layman" or lowly non-musical civilian, I would have no right to comment on the great Mr Almond, which isn't true.

  • The thumbs down haven't come from us but other viewers. We only delete comments that are offensive. Others have said they don't like the track, and that is fine, and those comments have remained. No comment was made about your musical ability (or lack of) - just asking you to point us in the direction of 'works' you have been involved with rather than be so negative. Checked out The Dead Finks, not my cup of tea; perhaps, a little like your 'book' infuences, a bit cliched indie student....

  • I'm afraid my skin's a little thicker than to rise to that. I'd suggest, however, that you try not to be so subjective whilst acting objective as to suggest that I am just some indie student when you clearly were, like Brian Eno or Marc Almond. You've avoided suggesting that my influence or music is bad and even if you think so, my ego can handle it. Not to be too offensive, but you were the ones who put out this bilge, so you disliking what I do, which I hope is the opposite, is hardly worrying

  • But you did rise up afterall! ha

  • not if you expected me to get in any way emotionally affected by the fact that you - gasp - downrated one of my videos.. you're the one who's found my comments 'offensive' and not the other way round. anyway, behaving like an adult as I think you should be I'm sure that you've released some very good songs in your time, as I know I have. I don't like this cover of Baby's On Fire, you apparently didn't like Be My Heroin, oh well. Let's move on, shall we ?

  • Aw!! Luv it!!! of course, i love the original too, but this is fantastic. and Marc is so HOT!!!!

  • Had a kebab with Marc at a tiny cafe in Tottenham Court Road once - he was a nice guy. I think I was going to see the Gun Club that night.

Prefer the Eno version of this (esp. 801) but the best cover is without doubt the one done by Jimmy and the Boys circa 79 in Australia.

  • Is that nina flowers on keyboards? It looks like it.

  • Tasty Tim.

  • Great stuff! Thanks for posting. will go buy it.. Always have been a huge Almond and Eno fan..

  • this is fabulous!

  • The visuals, the music, the vocals...this is such a sweetly addictive and delicious clip...thank you for posting it...love it!

  • LOVE IT, Thanx:)

  • Fantastic video and its even better when you think of how Marc came out of a coma a year earlier.

  • Thanks for your kind comment. The video was shot only a few months after he left hospital and Marc was amazing that day! Very professional and a pleasure to work with. Cheers.

  • blargh how is it that I could somehow never find this song anywhere-- but it has been on youtube for years? anyway it is qt as pie~

  • I am a big Eno fan (and also a big Almond fan), and I must confess I actually rather like this. It's camp, it's completely over the top, but it is a faithful cover. The video is pretty funky too.

Maybe not Almond's best work, but still a worthwhile addition to his catalogue in my view.

  • I was not aware of this, and I'm also a fan of both Almond and Eno. Good fun, I must say!

  • @TheRoxyProxy YA NOT WRONG THERE MATE!

  • I love Marc's outfit... what is it and Tasty is looking tasty as always, love this song.. .xxx

  • Thanks for your comment and support. Marc made the top himself especially for the video shoot back in 2005. It is his homage to the Eno original. Sadly Robert - on guitar in the video - has passed on..and is much missed by all of us at the label.

  • Ur welcome,

i am sorry to hear that Robert is no longer amongst u guys..... thanx for the reply... xxx

  • Love it...

  • Marc Almond was the only thing missing in Velvet Goldmine. Although I prefer the film version, I worship Almond and this is delicious.

  • I actually prefer the "non official " - 7" Eno version of this - but this comes a close

    2nd - SUPERB...............

  • Love it!

  • a stupendo!

  • me gusta como suena esta canción, es agradable a los oídos. En cuanto a que es marica o afeminado o gay , es cierto pero su forma de ser es así desde antes que apareciera la Sanchez.

  • Almond me encanta. Pero me parece una marica de barrio imitando a las grandes. Cono la Sanchez.

  • Very colorfulness pop.

This version's image is a fluorescent color.

    I'm sorry by poor English.

  • You may have hit on the real words to describe it---I'am sure everyone agree's

  • it is a good cover even though i dont like it

  • Its like Eno was reborn in 2009 -very nice ;)

  • sooooooooooooooooo wonderful .....

  • Marc is awesome in this. And it's the best version of the song by far

  • Funny, I am saying two things I never thought I would say...

    Better then Eno,

    Better then Fripp.

  • You nailed it man...Mother Fist was his best work ever!

  • It's a fun cover and I really like the video...

  • id never seen or heard of that song before! wow, i love marc, he's such a queen but so genuine. he put's 100% into his performance, ive seen him live a few times, amazing stuff. i hope he live's to one million year's old. go mark! your a star!!!

  • Listen to the song on Velvet goldmine

  • Not Marc's best work.

Glad he's still around though :)

  • this is ok, i like brian eno better

  • time to retire..his voice is shot..atrocious..the russian album was painful to listen to..

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinion---even if it is wrong!!

  • awesome cover

  • Yeah. But Johnathan Rhys-Meyers is the first one to sing it and the best to sing it. Hands down.

    Velvet Goldmine= Love

  • In fact - Brian Eno was the first to record the track (he wrote it too!). That was back in 1973/1974 and it was on the album "Here Come the Warm Jets", so a little before Velvet Goldmine me thinks :-)

  • If Marc Almond is covering this because he's a fan of Eno's mid-70s work, great. Nothing wrong with a little homage. If the YT comments lead people to the brilliance that is Eno's "Here Come The Warm Jets," and the original of this song, with Robert Fripp's fine guitar work, even better. I have no reason to listen to this cover again, but there are worse ways to spend 4 minutes.

  • This is VERY cool. Nice video and flawless production. ATTITUDE to the MAX

  • This man is a god!

  • Yes he is a wonderful creature!

  • What a fabulous creature Marc is.

  • They said you were hot stuff, and that's what baby's been reduced to. <3 Brian Eno is GENIUS.

  • Watched it again,OMG I lust/love this man!!

    He is ssoo HOT!

  • im loving this. He is so unique. marc is the one and only voice, he can sing anything. So talented. Thanx 4 this..

  • marc voice fits this kind of music as well as in every orther song:)
