This makes me happy and sad. Happy because i love that they still cling to the traditions and sad cause i never had a chance to cook with my grandma...
i am wondering the amount of syrup that was use. it look like 1/2 to 2/3 cup. could someone let me know. and what temperture was the potatoes cooked at?
You're an idiot. Honestly, I really feel sad for you. In India, for example, it is tradition that a person eats with his/her hands at family gatherings to show that they are comfortable with their family.
Very intelligent young man. Great video. The only thing that I would have done differently would have been to cook the potatoes in the oven instead of the microwave. I use my microwave as less as possible. I DON'T TRUST IT.
@flyingidiot357 As a African American who celebrates Kwanzaa annually I reassure you that we do eat fried chicken for this occasion. And if you really want to go there, yes..yes we also (at least with my family) have water melon after the meal. But don't subject yourself to thinking we only eat those things all the time. stereotypes spawn from cultural characteristics or tenancies, so everyone have a laugh. So, for a laymen of Afro-Amero culture it's perfectly acceptable to think that
how did they cooked the potato before they used microwaves? just cooking it? How does microwaving impact the taste? Wow a lot of questoins, hope someone can answer.
@nwLohmann i guess you could bake it in an oven or over some coals on the bbq.... i would actually think that it would taste better that way.... the microwave is just to make it fast cos it can take quite long in an oven... especially for sweet potatoes that big...
@immarnel yeah. there's tons of different varieties of fruits and veggies
Did you know that there's actually black apples?
And they're pretty delicious too!
It's just that there's only a select few that's available to most people because they're easier to grow or they take less time to grow because the companies that control our food are so greedy.

That's really interesting. Seriously.
I wonder if its a difference in the soil or something that causes that.. or the amount of sun.

Cooking in the microwave ... thats definitely traditional
jmmmat 2 years ago
I love utilizing my microwave. It's quick and easy, and it reminds me that not everything has to take hours to prepare in order for it to taste good.
NaienaArygos 2 years ago
It's true, microwaves get a bad rap in cooking nowadays but they are are perfectly fine for a lot of things.
christopherawesome 2 years ago
Well, if the tradition of yams in their family started with them utilizing the micro, then yes.
myalteredself 2 years ago
using the micro it's good on potatoes , it preserve all the nutrients,, plus they get cooked fast and even
