I was in this unit right after they deployed to Tal-Afar. Saw many familiar faces, Sgt. Surmi, Sgt Bart, SSG Yun, Demayo, Lee, Cpt Adamcheck. Good times.  Glad I got in with them right before we deployed to Iraq for OIF 5/6 TFF!

I met a guy who spotted me in my uniform after the St. Patrick's day parade here in New York. He was all like "Hey sarge, come over here". Knowing that he must of lost his leg during duty, I came over and he told me he was from the 82nd airborne and lost his leg due to an IED. I shook his hand and snapped him a salute. He was cool he taught me a new handshake too lol. 82nd airborne... hooah.

yeah, if you enlist with your contract to go ranger, if they still offer that, you get a chance to be selected to go to one of the ranger bats, but there is a high wash out rate, since you would have gone to jump school after infantry osut your already airborne infantry. so you will likely get sent to either 82nd or 173rd if you fail, get injured, etc.. If I did it all over I would have done either that or the 18x which is for forces. wash outs are just gonna end up in airborne infantry units

are you tryin to get into ranger regiment, or are you just tryin to get your ranger tab? Because theres a difference between the ranger scroll which you get in regiment, and the tab, where you just go to the school for 64 days.

Does anyone know how long Ranger training is and where it's at?

yea i do it is 10weeks for basic (1week of that is induction), 3 weeks of Airborne Training, then after you do that you have to do a stringent orientation course before they even pick you for ranger training, then after you enter Ranger School it will take 2 months to complete.

you check out vehicles when you arrive overseas. most units get uparmors and 1117s.. infantry units..the ASV is tank like I suppose, very heavy.
