I already have the original Maycom EM-27 with the orange screen, i used to be an avid CB'er in the late 80's early 90's and bought the maycom just before i gave up doing it.
I have played around with scanners and seen people using Ham radio a few times.
Can you please advise on what exactly the mod does, is it still a cb and a ham radio as well? can you transmit on all frequencies also is there a chart or anyway of working out what frequencies are what channels etc? cheers Dan

Hi Crusty, the radio is great out of the box it's just you get lots of new features and frequencies with the mod. I recommend the maycom, you will like it!

I have yet to purchase a set and learn more about CB, but to someone that knows very little, could you explain to me why everyone talks about doing this mod, isn't the set usable as it comes out of the box?, or does not really pick anything up as so little people probably use CB now since the CB craze slowly faded away after the 70'sor 80's....
