Oh man...that first track is so brilliant...brings back so many memories. Me and my brother used to play mechcommander over and over. The game never got the props it deserved...sucks...
Seriously, thanks for the upload man, the nostalgia is killing me, haha. I remember the game being so hard when me and my bro first played it, and the music used to be a motivational tool. I wish they would remake that game, or make MC3 already...
Damn Too Quiet for nostalgically bringing me back to the 90's, I swear that track has trance like properties put on a loop or something.
The soundtrack actually immerses you to the BT universe during the clan war, and that you're fighting it with just regular plucky human beings who through blood sweat and toil must become hardcore veterans against a very brutal and monstrous parody of mankind. Then you fear for the worst that could happen from anywhere as missions unfold against Smoke Jaguar.
7.04.... Just wanna cry... I remember this song very well, like I'm playing this game in 1998. Outro was playing instead of intro in my game. So I could hear this song every time after launching the game. And this game was my first PC-game at all. And my favorite.12 years passed already......
Mechcommander is one of those games where a good soundtrack actually gives an unique theme to the game itself. I was thinking of uploading it myself, but it's good to see someone already done it before. One question though, I've lost the game disk a long time ago, and I have about 40 music files in my hdd which is a total of 27 mins of music. Is some files are omitted or is it because I had the gold version of the game? Also I think menu theme was different in the gold.
@1wingedangel3 If you have the Mechcommander CD you can literally copy and paste the songs from the CD onto your computer. If your computer doesn't automatically rip the tracks from the CD, go to computer and right click the Mechcommander CD icon and select open. Then under the data folder click on sounds and there should be twenty something WAV files labeled Song 00, Song 01, etc. Just select them all and copy and paste to your harddrive and enjoy.
Actually MechCommander will run on any computer (something about the files not being locked to the CD or some technical jargon). I installed it on my Vista laptop and it runs fine, even better than it did on Windows 98.
Or if that doesn't work, you could download Virtual Box and install Windows 98 on that, then use that to run MechCommander, and even the early MechWarrior 2 games to boot.
@jimbobtownley2 From recent experience, the _installer_ won't work on new computers but the game will still run if you have the CD in, copy the CD contents to a folder in your computer, and run it that way without actually installing it. I'm playing it on Windows 7 64 bit now.
the second song "Advance" is one of my favorites. i can see mechs marching thru cities and mountains in my mind, it's amazing. the credits song and combat songs are very good too.
@chambillgame Hecks yeah, Advance is like the theme I know that game by haha. Its totally awesome. It does kinda make the game seem more combat-ish lolz
all these songs are fantastic, I wish they were more than a few seconds long each

Nostalgia is setting in bigtime.
"Advance" was always my favorite track, I don't know why. It's got that ... "One mech down, 1000 more to go." feel to it.

I made up names for the songs too. I used, Liao theme, Davion Theme, Steiner Theme, Battle Cry, Paranoid, Waiting, and DFA.
frogjedi4 2 years ago
Yeah. I really like the names that you chose, especially DFA. They seem to fit more naturally with the music score than mine.
freebirthscum 2 years ago
Unfortunately there are still about 20 that I have yet to name.
