You know, it's a shame the first part of this video isn't shown. This was Ronnie's first appearance after being shot. When he showed up at the door of the House the place went absolutely wild for the longest cheering I ever heard - proud of a man whose bravery and good humor in adversity had endeared him to his nation. Ronald Reagan Foundation - let's show the whole tape! We want to see Ronnie being cheered as he deserved!
Too bad he didn't enact ANY of those plans. It was all on paper! Where was the budget deficit in 1984? I think what he said at 13:20 was funny...oh, yes we are going to RAISE your taxes, just not as much. HAHAHAHAHA!
@jah0524 Yeah thats called a tax cut.. You may not think it is, but it is. To change tax rates downward less than expected is a tax cut. To that end, Obama did cut taxes by keeping the Bush tax cuts in. With his policies though, the economy is not growing with those cuts. Its all about policy, not just tax cuts.
@yomammy13 wow. you need to go to school. obama didn't cut taxes, he kept tax rates that were instituted already. if he cut taxes on top of that he would have cut taxes. also, tax cuts alone do help. policy alone does almost nothing. this has been proven over and over again. having no policy and letting the free market do it's thing creates more jobs than trying to control the system through policy.
Isn't it amazing that political shills like Clinton and Obama have been told by their campaign people that they should emulate Reagan when giving speeches but the thing that really made Reagan's speeches great wasn't always what he said but that he truly felt what he was saying and he didn't rely on speech writers but his own innate speaking ability. This man knew what would move everyone forward and the regret is Clinton got credit for his financial policies effects.
It's so sad to see this video of a man who knew what to do when presented with a problem. He was a great man with conviction and determination and a spirit that no other President in my time has ever expressed! He was very optimistic and loved his country so very much. It's a shame what has replaced him in the office now. It's a shame that the current dreg in chief cannot and will not ever understand how wrong he is and how right Reagan was. God Bless you Ronald Reagan! You are missed!
the look of 'almost tears' around 17:00 to a standing ovation is amazing. this was a man that truly loved his country and felt BLESSED to hold the position of President. It angers me so much that Obama acts like he DESERVES it...
It is time that we as Americans learn what a true leader is all about! God Bless you Mr. Reagan. Rest well, and be assured that it is our time now to do what you did when you served our country. We will make you proud of those of us that believed in you and loved you dearly.
Thank you ReaganFoundation for posting this historic joint session of Congress! President Reagan had been recently shot and came back calling for bi-partisanship with renewed vigor, energy and charisma than anyone half his age could have! Masterful speech. Among his best.
Ronald Reagan would have been able to fix our problems better than Obama.

Ronald Reagan: "...our government is too big and it spends too much!"
Obama: "...our government is too small and it doesn't spend enough!"
What a difference! God bless Ronald Reagan -- and may He help our country.
