The intonation and phrasing are nice, but the tempo is quick compared to the versions that I've sung and heard. The piece needs to be flowing and moderate.
look even if it were a highway one should respect the composer's tempo indication. there is written 'andante moderato' . the editors since +/- 1903 indicate a quarter = 58, influenced by fauré's own pupils. even if one omits that consign, this version ,which I definitely do not consider as bad, is not andante moderato and considering the spirit of the whole opus too fast.
I think we are meant to think about the American soldiers in this culture. A film can do that. As a devout atheist the flagrant emotionalism of the music, for me, serves to make me even more furious than I was before. It's just too damn pretty! People are dying for their country (or has that, once again, become everyday routine!
Très bel ensemble d'Oslo ! Belle acoustique dans une très belle église. Le chef d'orchestre donne tout son être pour l'expression, les nuances .... Excellent !
i don't like this conductor , he moves too much, and his movements are not precise at all : he prefers to dance ! But, anyway, the result is beautiful ! and the acoustic is fine too
Very beautiful timbre in that church! Faure is easy listening for everyone. I was overwhelmed by his Requiem a long time ago,and it is the perfect piece for beginners :-)
I love this tempo. Most performances do this as a slow andante or adagio

"In paradisum" is a piece to accompany the movement of the casket to the place of burial, so are they RUNNING with the casket?

This is an excellent version.

why so much speed in interpreting that masterpiece ? too bad, the conductor didn't understood at all the spirit of "In Paradisium"

odd, isn't it, that the church is gorgeous, the performers are impeccably dressed, but the conductor looks so sloppy. I like the faster tempo, btw.
